  • For some reason I don't remember seeing the parts of Journey to the West where that dude murders the dragon king of the river and then the dragon king's ghost goes and haunts li shimin to death, but people say it's there

    mandela effect or censorship?
so you know the ultimate villain in stephen chow's kung fu hustle, the guy who said in the world of martial arts speed determines the winner, so anyway he does that toad kung fu, right, so apparently that's from like the sequel of the return of the condor heroes, there's a villain in there named ouyang feng, who's kinda an asshole rapist murderer good guy, anyway he uses a toad skill too

so they made a Chinese version of breaking bad and it's actually really good like it's it might not be as, you know, well acted, because it takes a lot of cues from source material, but it's more complicated and delves deeper into the south east asian trade, and it's... dirtier and grittier too

I think the main difference between this series and the American breaking bad is that in this version the guy has a full head of hair, he's savvy and smooth and capable of charming anyone despite being middle-aged, well-connected and capable of managing a giant business empire based on drugs, and well educated in all sorts of information so that he's never caught off guard or caught flat footed

I mean, they both tell different stories. If you just say it plain like that it's obvious since there is more to it when you have "circumstances" and thus it's more interesting plus people like for there to always be a reason for stuff to happen even if some stuff is just random. Something something Paarthurnax struggling with the circumstances of ones birth.

It's weird that "Horcrux" is translated as "魂器", when the literal definition of the words is "soul device", which kind of makes sense but not really since whore crusts are more like soul containers or whatever, right, but you know, "魂器" is used in a lot of other medias and settings, especially the ones with soul stuff or "soul" stuff, you know the kinda fantasy magic that just gets labeled "soul" without any reason
I think what's interesting about this kind of "multiple settings SI'd at the same time by one MC" type thing is that you could, instead of a "know all" or "know none" scenario, you could have the MC be familiar with some settings, and unfamiliar with others, for example if MC only knows anime but not games, or movies and not anime, etc. in this way you can mix "invincible genre" with "exploration genre"
If you think about it, mortals being puppets of the gods is apt enough, if this world is a simulation and the ones outside determining fate are players, then the little npcs inside the simulation are puppets, or whatever

    basically danmachi
I just don't understand why Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid is so well know in a sort of cult following way in China, like every isekai story that is a multiverse has like a one in ten chance of having the MC come here to take a flower
"I want to be the King of Pirates", but in Chinese, you know, "我是要成为海贼王的男人" can also be translated as "I want to be the Pirate King's man", or perhaps "I want to marry the Pirate King"
A lot of these Chinese Naruto fanfics write Hiruzen like he is Mao, especially with how he sacrifices his son, the other one not Asuma, in the third war in some of these stories like as an example to the villagers or whatever, you know

saw this one weird idea where the SI MC gains the concept of "world trees" or just really big trees, and they isekai multiple times like branches into different settings with like a giant fucking tree in the middle of things and each instance of their isekai is connected with the other ones
I was reading this fanfic, and this MC/author-insert had to choose between 1. having his sharingan open (he's an uchiha anyway), thunder breathing from kimetsu no yaiba which is just a sword art that looks cool, and the sui sui no mi which is the devil fruit that lets you swim through everything so if you develop it you could probably swim through the river of time...

I guess it's a double negative feedback loop; I don't like the MC, but he's representative of the author, so I don't like the author, so since I don't like the author, I don't like that he's inserting himself as the MC, and since I don't like the MC, I don't like the author, and since I don't like the author, I don't like the MC
Imagine cultivating for 227 million years to become golden immortal, and then another 100 million years to become emperor in heaven, and then you're like, I might as well ascend now to an even higher existence, right? And then you do that, only to arrive in a wuxia setting.

Wuxia is the ultimate level... because when your god tier power is equal/based on the environment, well... gotta start from scratch!
The truth of Journey to the West, in essence, is profits.

After all, when Wukong caused havoc in heaven, all accounts and records were destroyed, and all things were in chaos.

What does this mean? It means that this is the perfect opportunity for everyone involved to embezzle and steal the accumulation of heaven, which is the sum of hundreds of millions of years of wealth.
    d.fish
    d.fish
Therefore, afterwards, only those involved and Wukong know how much is really stolen, which is why every time Wukong goes up into heaven for favors or anything else, he could get exactly what he wants, because those heavenly immortal officials all know that the only blackmail material there is is in Wukong's hands.
    d.fish

For example, how many peaches were really eaten, how many golden pills were really stolen, how many armaments were really destroyed, how many heavenly horses were released and lost, how many celestial fairy virgins were really raped... who knows except the ones involved in each specific case, and Wukong?

There was this one "isekai with a livestream system" genre type story, where one of the members of the chat send this message after the MC started hareming:

So there's this one character named Frill in Wonder Egg Priority (you only need to watch her episode, the series meh), and she's like a this imperfect, selfish, mischievous loli daughteru made by these two otaku nerds, and they fall in love with a woman, and fight over her, and she chooses one of them, and Frill kills her because she stole her daddies from her

"The stronger the bloodline, the harder it is to produce offspring" has got to be one of the most retarded tropes in chinese fantasy

Looks like western dragons are superior, just look at them D&D dragons literally fucking everything into being half-dragons, having offspring everywhere
You know, it's really weird that there's very little scenes in shonen fanfics that depict just girls talking to each other. Not really locker room talk, but, you know, like, uh... for example, if in DXD, the girls talking about what gross shit Issei and his friends did this time, or, um, not really gossip, but tots part of it, I guess, you don't really have environs or culture for this in Naruto, but One Piece?
