    Recently read this Pokemon SI where the SI is the nephew of Sakaki (Giovanni), and the setting is where "connected families and the super rich are draining the world's resources and oppressing the poor with ultra massive wealth disparities" or basically China, and the SI thinks that Team Rocket are good guys because they're trying to overthrow this system.

    Sadly, it also came with the standard Chinese Pokemon webnovel tropes--tier 1, 2, 3 "gods", "psuedogod pokemon", tiering in "powers", limiting pokemon potential, nerfing the shit out of bonds, girls fall instantly for the male protagonist because he cooks good, protagonist is handsome according to every girl, and poor people can't do anything about anything

    I think the thing I wanted to tell you most about is how there's this Chinese trope where cats refer to their owners as "shovel officer" or "shovel minister", as in the owner shovels their shit out of the litter box and that's their duties, and this means the owners are actually underlings who wipe the butts of cats. Anyway, Eevee keeps calling the SI "shovel officer".

    Apparently the reason Chinese web novels label America as "Lighthouse Country" (aside from dodging censorship) is to mock America, it's referring to that poem about America, 'You are the light of the world...' and those other references to 'beacons' and 'city on a hill', like '... we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world.     So there's a Pokemon character in Gold/Silver named Earl Dervish (Giovanni in the Japanese lmao), whose Chinese name is "初始", which means "beginning" or "initial", so those MTL Pokemon stories keep saying "Earl Dervish Pokemon" when they're supposed to be trying to say "Starter Pokemon" because no one fixed this error in the MTL's word bank.

    I don't feel so bad about Fakku buying the rights to all those doujins... in their English version only... since I can just read the Chinese version that gets posted everywhere. But it's a little weird that this can happen in the first place.
