The issue with logging in with email addresses has been resolved.
Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com.
Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.
Have you tried turning Steam Input on? And connecting it to the PC via USB? I play pretty much everything with a PS4 controller as well.
If that fails there's many solutions. But really, Steam Input should do the trick.
As far as I can tell, that option was added after this thread was made, and it doesn't affect Reader Mode, just regular viewing mode.
Thankfully, the number of posts per page in Reader Mode was increased from 10 to 20 some time today, which is much better but still not quite as good as 30 per page.
The site's name is visible and readable, but now the header got too long and takes up more screen space on my phone.
...You know, now that I wrote it down it sounds like I'm an ungrateful asshole who keeps nitpicking. :v
I think you guys are doing a fine job getting the site back in shape...
I mentioned this several times in the XF2 transition feedback thread, but I figured making a thread for this is both more appropriate and more visible.
Before the transition to XF2, threads in Reader Mode displayed 30 posts per page, which was a fine amount. Not too few, not too many...
Minor nitpick (in comparison to being limited to 10 posts per page in reader mode), but why is there a "find threads" section in my sidebar menu, above the clearly more important "Watched" section?
If I wanted to find new threads, I would go to the forum index and look through them like a...
Refreshing the page, naturally, but also opening the conversations tab or clicking on the profile picture of a poster. That always refreshed the alerts icon back in XF1 and it still works now.
The weird behaviour I mentioned is the icon doesn't always update when the "there are new posts"...
See, what this transition truly highlights is the gradual enshittification of websites.
The New Internet has all the fancy bells and whistles, but the user experience and interaction is objectively inferior to what we had in the good old days when sites were simpler and all these kids were not...
It does have the numbers, but they don't appear consistently unless you do something to refresh them.
It's weird, it has weird behaviour, but it still has the red icon with a number.
It's funny that most complaints and requests can be boiled down to "can we please have the old looks and all the buttons whee they used to be, please"
Which actually is exactly what I'd like. QQ's old layout was extremely convenient and this modern UI nonsense feels strictly inferior.
Also...
Tbh I really liked the old look. I think it was closer to my platonic ideal of a web forum.
But really, how do I change the number of posts displayed per page in Reader Mode? I found nothing useful in the Preferences place.
