While using death dates as a reference makes sense, Uma doesn't use that mostly because of one thing, Fate. Their irl Fate plays a large role in their current life and it even dictates their achievements in their new life. I know, it sounds silly, but its something Uma likes to reference often and also plays around (e.g. Shakur knowing she will lose the triple crown by 7cm, Suzuka feeling a foreboding sense at her irl final race, Cafe almost following her irl fate). That Fate in Uma is something that is hard to change yet its possible through the power of dreams and friendship.
And Shirogane's fate should not put her into racing, so she really has no psychic preconceptions about what her fate in racing would be. She's mostly just happy to be alive and living a carefree life, for the most part.
Carefree by her standards, at least.
Being alone ruins a lot of opportunities for her to further bond and interact with her fellow uma girls.
And from what the story so far, she ain't a social butterfly either!
This is still Salaryman/Tanya in uma form. They really aren't very sociable by nature.
That's what you have the Tactical Goldshi Kidnapping Crew for
Mostly unnecessary, since Shirogane is going to be on a trainer team, and is attending a school, which means she will have class with other students. It's not like she's going to be hikkikomori in her room all day.
- Expressways: 100 km/h is the standard limit, though it can be lowered depending on conditions. Some expressways in Japan have a higher limit of 120 km/h.
- Ordinary/Suburban roads: The speed limit is typically 60 km/h, unless otherwise posted.
- Urban areas and smaller streets: Speed limits are often reduced to 40 km/h.
- Residential side streets: These can have limits as low as 30 km/h. As of 2026, many narrow residential roads across Japan will be officially limited to 30 km/h.
For the most part, deliveries would be running in Urban areas and smaller streets, so Shirogane was mostly running around 40kph on her deliveries when there isn't much traffic. Given that Fujisawa is actually quite population dense, much of the time, moving at the speed limit would not have been possible.
Would Evil Nice Nature even be able to dent Shirogane? Her best debuffs tire other racers out, making her devastating to those that focus on speed with the minimal needed stamina for the race length. Shirogane is a Stamina monster so a speed debuff like Dominator would be more effective against her than All-Seeing Eyes or Mystifying Murmur.
Shirogane would be largely unaffected by what other racers do aside from their physical positioning and speed. In game, she probably would have a Competitive/Defiant ability where getting debuffed boosts her Guts and Acceleration or something...which would probably make her pretty meta in the game due to the prevalence of debuffs in PVP.
Shirogane can't speed up to a sprint at the last stretch as she'll effectively be sprinting the entire race.
To be fair, even a runner with Shirogane's endurance isn't really going to able to sprint the entire race on longer races, though she could probably manage that on shorter races.
Also, while its possible that Uma weight heavier than human, I doubt they actually weight as heavy as a horse considering some trainer have been able to carry Umas
There are several scenarios where differences between one weight or another would have obvious logistical effects; for example, various instances of umas driving cars or riding public transportation, stairs, ladders, walkways, or chairs without noticeable reinforcement, and so on.
If umas really did weigh similar to horses, they would have a lot of problems, especially since they would be exerting greater pressure on the ground with only two smaller feet. You'd see umas falling through walkways or decks, and probably chewing up tracks they run on. You would also not be able to put more than maybe two umas in an elevator or else it would exceed the weight limit. On the other hand, it does seems quite likely that umas are a fair bit heavier than humans...which does raise the question of how they can swim, since humans are actually kind of borderline bouyant (is this why umas have big boobs?)
The story...it writes itself
Overseas popularity potential
first generation of Polish descent...born concurrently with Polish Independence
Polish umumusume are rare due to 'historical events'
Descended from Poles who escaped the German/Soviet occupation via the help of a Japanese ambassador ie 'Sad Poles, bad Germans, bad Russians, Good Japanese'
Wearing a Polish Uhlan outfit
How is that not a PR gift?
Shirogane: "This is the only outfit I can really afford at the moment."
Her fans: "This si the best thing ever!"
Her winning concert will also probably be a Polish song she learned from her mother, since it's not like Shirogane listens to music on her own time. It would have a negative effect on her job since she has to listen to the traffic around her. Also, if she sings in Polish, the Japanese audience won't be able to catch her messing up. Then she gets a big Polish fanbase, and she has to buckle down and practice singing, to her consternation.
It's kind of a funny thought for her turning into Poland's idol horse despite not being in Poland, serving as an inspiration for the young uma population in Poland.
Shiroganes top speed, while pushing herself to her current limits is probably closer to 70kph and sustainable for 15-30ish minutes.
Her current max speed is closer to mid 50's under normal circumstances, but she can indeed keep it up for a significant amount of time. It will also increase with more training, or if circumstances result in her going into frenzy for whatever reason.
I wonder if shiro will ever compete in marathons and ultra marathons in her spare time for fun?
If there's an uma section of the Olympics, she might end up there for one reason or another.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet, but I absolutely love that she has both ear ornaments. Because she reincarnated more than once, and her previous lives had her both male and female.
She also has two human parents, so didn't have anyone in her immediate nearby family who would find hat a bit weird.
Isn't the red band around the base of the tail also a warning that the horse kicks?
Shirogane punches more than kicks. Which is very weird for an umamusume
I have found what Shirogane's first winning song should be:
Unfortunately, putting aside that her name isn't Gold Ship and her finding the lyric, her mother's the one who taught her Polish, I think, and she's not the sort who would survive the sheer embarrassment of her mother hearing about it.
Keep in mind that while Shirogane is half-Polish and is fluent in the language, and to some degree the culture, she still grew up in Japan, and thus would be mostly out of the loop in regards to Polish meme culture. She would probably pick on the more well-known Polish songs, like maybe:
The national anthem would probably be a bit too on the nose.
