Environmental manipulation and reality warping. Magic to control things around someone. Vs raw aura amplification. Instead of domains of alteration they control around them, harnessing pure power. Fire fists, thunder kicks. Whatever power type they have embodied in some kind of mighty combat. Transformations into monster and beast hybrid forms.

So reality warping, is it just changing the characteristics of stuff? Making Water hard, shuffling sand around, bending earth into various shapes? Or is it full on anything you can imagine? Turing a sword into a snake, making a goblet never run out of water, turning your bones into rubber?

Cresting a unique dimensional space around you, changing and shaping elements, summoning, but never internal reality warping.

Kind of reminds me of Vista from Worm or some of the space warping bullshit from Doctor Strange. Sounds cool. What do you want to do with it?

Just anime setting with these hax reality bending magicians with sophisticated techniques and on other side are warriors pumping mana like steroids to make bigger thunder sword slash

Math nerds versus steroid jocks. lol. Magicians who use their powers to constantly shift space around, attack in all angles and degrees with a complete disregard for physics. Versus warriors pumping so much magic they can shatter congregate when they jump and cut faster than the human eye can blink.

Different elemental and concept magics vs Black iron dragon, sky titan spear, glacide Phoenix swords. Organizations pairing the two types together as partners

You should make the jocks have a more philosophical bent, to where they see mana as a tool to purge the weakness and impurity from your body and become a higher better form of yourself. With maybe a little biological manipulation too as the mana causes changes to your body, like bigger lung capacity or more twitch muscles for better reflexes as it reinforces and upgrades you the more you use it.

I like the warriors being philosophical about transforming the self while the magicians see it as a tool to manipulate the world

Furthers the nerds versus jock comparisons too since it's spiritualism versus logic.

Now for a actual setting

That's the hard part. lol. It's why there's so many over power Harry Potter or Naruto stories. The powers the easy part it's integrating that with a whole world and compelling cast of characters.

Well I guess the first question is Modern, Sci Fi, or Fantasy? Since the time period's one of the most important when deciding a setting.

Fantasy modern?

You going for a masquerade or try to more thoroughly integrate the fantasy stuff in the modern day?

That just leaves power levels. How they compare to guns and modern militaries? How integrated and involved or antagonistic and independent are they with local governments? Stuff like that to figure out the relationships and logistics of the Masquerade.

Oh whoops. Goddamnit. The world ladder is still tripping me up. lol. But if you don't want guns just make the magician anti physic's shield make them malfunction and have the muscle guy's strong enough to shrug off bullets even on the lower ends.
