Hmm, when you say images in fanfics, do you mean putting them IN the chapters themselves? I'm not a fan of images IN SFW fanfics, I feel like it breaks immersion/story flow and any reference art should be left for the end of chapters.

Yeah, I do see them more in the NSFW stories because authors are writing with one hand so they're a little lazy about descriptors. And because there's some idiot readers who keep asking for a reference picture the moment the character shows up when they could just bing it. Er, google it.

But I guess I have some nostalgia for those books that put a few pictures in the middle, or just picture books, or comics, or something like that. Because it's one thing to have a reference picture, it's another to have a picture acting out an important scene in your story, right?
