Questionable Questing

Magic as we understand it grows as I like to say from people looking at Gandalf and thinking, what if he cast thunderbolts? High fantasy magic is characterized by the conjuring of energies, forces, elements. It's the ability to cast forth power as a beam or projectile or wave or alteration.

What you are saying I see more personal enchantment and you have to focus in on what rituals you learn. Specialize in the rites discovered and practiced, and none of it can make a caster invincible against a army.

Cersie having magic paints a target on her back unless she has an isolated witch's Red Keep to modify her sons and daughters and lovers.

That's the plan. The readers may not be willing to kill an innocent person for power, but to protect Cersei's kids or the waifu's? That's a completely different story. The more magic comes into play, the more in danger the characters are going to be, and the more tempted the readers are to dive deeper into magic

Can they teach their kids it?

I'm going to have a vote for that, but the plan is that Cersei's kids won't be as strong, but can definitely learn it.

On Beta writing, there are two things to consider. Do you mean grammar or do you mean content changes? The difference between spelling and paragraph structure edits and edits to the substance, adding in sentences and ideas.

As for how to get one, you know any friends into writing? That's usually the best way

I think the biggest problem for me with writing is that when I'm in the moment, slapping out sentences and chapters, a lot of times my thoughts are moving so fast I have trouble actually getting them down on paper. It's like I have the scene or conversation already in my head and if I don't write it down in the next few seconds I'm going to forget it.

But then I come back thirty minutes later or an hour when I've calmed down and I'm not in writing mode and I see all the stupid little mistakes I've made. Stuff like switching wood and would or adding a comma instead of a period. Then I see more fundamental issues like repeating sentences and over used of certain words.

I think the best thing for me is being able to come back in hour or two later, sometimes a day or two later, and recheck my work to fix any problems I see. The only problem with that is when your writing fanfiction you kind of need a scheduled, not only for your readers to look forward to, but so that I have to actually sit there and write and not procrastinate.

If I constantly tell myself I need to recheck my work an hour from now to fix any potential mistakes then I'm going to get into the trap where I never publish anything because I'm always rechecking my work.

So I don't know, maybe just having someone I have to explain my idea's too will help my brain slow down, that and just having someone who can edit spelling mistakes will speed my process up so much.

I say give yourself grace periods. You know when your going to write hot, do that, and then return and look over it and adjust. And space that out as needed.

As for ideas, there's always looking among players for a creative sort. Same for grammar mistakes being taken by someone good at that. Send out the distress call and go searching

Question, on the scale of fucked up to wholesome, how do you like to portray incest kink and blend the two?

It depends on the character's, but half the fun in any forbidden relationship is how fucked up and weird it is and incest is the ultimate taboo.

But I still like my relationships in stories to have moments of wholesomeness and intimacy.

I like the ownership and controlling nature of Cersie's relationship to Asha. A permanent power imbalance, but also clearly she loves her daughter and how much Asha loves her. A closed circle of intense passionate feelings for the other's attention

The balance is always trying to make it nice while also having it be warped. With my quest with Jackal, I think I've leaned too much into having it come off as natural without it being fucked and am working on correcting that.
