Questionable Questing

Main character should not be able to take on armies with magic coming back, but is the strongest force multipler. Cult and army and political power, and the Long Night is something of a very very long term threat, if the Quest goes really well might survive on after that

. And I'd say the Realm, personal magic is good for what the MC can personally accomplish, and their will be threats that need their personal attention, but the real strength is in the kingdom they cultivate

What is important would be realm mechanics. Pathfinder kingmaker has a couple like culture, economy, and stability. Simple things that cover a lot of related areas.

How your day? And I have been pondering tone. Game of Thrones is infamous for its Red Wedding, but should politics be that dangerous in a Quest? You don't want players to feel powerless and always reacting, but dangers are good for investment, traps and treachery

Day was pretty good, saw a movie, had some brunch. As for politic's? Its a balancing act. I've said it before their should always be meaningful consequence for the actions of the players, but main character is also a powerful lord so the story needs to respect that.
Andy333

No one's going to openly threaten a powerful lord, no matter how degenerate unless their a religious fanatic or its another powerful lord looking at war. Knights, Maesters, and small folk should always respect the opinions of there lord, but just because you listen to them and pretend to agree with them, doesn't mean these groups can't creatively interpret these orders to their own ends.

You should have a mechanic were an advisor has their own goals or plans and they should take advantage of whatever plan the player has to help in that goal. Say you have an advisor that corrupt. Have them take advantage of a player's infrastructure plan to pocket some of that money for themselves. Maybe have a role against the intrigue advisor or the players intrigue to see if they get away with it.

What I have learned over my years of being part of Quests is players fucking hate twists and sudden fails. Yet, Game of Thrones is built on being deadly. Its something I see a lot of fics not get, they like the characters, but they don't embrace the tone. Game of Thrones isn't the deadliest book series ever, but the Red Wedding and Theon's betrayal tell you that it is a uneasy place

This could be interesting. I want to encourage the players to invest both corruption porn and characterization time in their advisors loyalty and goals. I like this idea of the different parities having their own objectives that the player has to plot around

Its going great. Slowly the votes are trickling in

Once you prove to the readers you consistently post more chapters you'll get even more.

Typically we do a weekly thing per Quest, with interludes in between but we are also doing two quests right now, so maybe twice weekly for this quest but no interludes. I'll have to ask Jackal,

Looking like a Rhaella quest is what it will be. I can work with this
Andy333
Andy333
Nice. What do you think her characterization's going to be? Smart? funny? Awkward? Lonely? Religious? Atheist? How do you think her husbands abuse will affect her? How did the tragedy at Summer hall effect her? I'm really interested to hear if you have any character arc planned.

So, I want to show you how fucked we are for inspiration
"Rhaella was said to have always been mindful of her duty.[4]"
This is the only bit on her personality bio in Westros.org. There are going to be votes after MC choice to develop her personality and beliefs. Oh, and on Westros.org? Her images? Most of them are her being abused. She is a one character trait dead woman
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
But I have some ideas. Pending Jackal's approval, players can pick what Targaryen kings and queens inspire her, and that can help with her personality. They can also choose what her image of the ideal queen is. As for concrete personality ideas I want to hit is about empowerment.
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
I like degradation of woman into sluts and whores. I enjoy objecificaion and bimbofication. I'm for woman being sexy horny bitches in smut. We can't make this a serious femniest empowerment bit. We can have Rhaella think about how noble woman are without control over their lives and unable to protect their children or the name of their house
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
Rhaella was fucked over by the system. Unable to act as a queen, as a mother, to seek power for her family and secure the glory of her house. She couldn't exert royal agency as a matriarch of her children and family, and was surrounded by men who sided with the mad dangerous king. She wants to change that, to make Westros a land of queens and daughters of queens.
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
But I'm doing this in the framework of a noble caring about noble concerns. She wants other noble woman to have the power to act as nobles and to serve as role models and leaders for their children and to ensure for future incest marriages that there is love. She wants to be the glory of old Valyria reborn and worthy of her blood

As for Areys, I have notes on the doc for the opening post of her that Jackal can use to expand on the tragedy of Areys. I want players to be conflicted and hurt over what to do about him. She is his sister-wife. She knew him all her life and they were happy before, she both hates him but wants what she lost. She thinks she might be at fault while loathing him and thinking he ruined everything
