I don't know if I like Madara coming back, felt like it was the moment the more realistic tone of the beginning wasn't ever coming back, but I do think Black Zetsu could work as the final antagonist of the series.

Instead of the final battle being a fist fight with Kaguya on the moon, have it be everyone racing against time to prevent Black Zetsu from completing his ritual which will release an eldritch abomination. in my mind Kaguya would work a lot better as an Abeloth from Star wars, a threat everyone wants to contain, rather than a dragon ball z villain she was like in the anime.

I think Kaguya's story is great. That whole cycle started by her and her kid and his kids. What it needed was worldbuilding beforehand. Which maybe it did get that. I never watched to the end of shipuden. Foreshadowing this mythological epic. and Naruto demon fox taijutsu lad or something else?
