My day's been pretty good. Its finally the weekend and I just got back from having steak at a local restaurant called Sizzler's with family. In Taffy Tales, what I am drawing from, the MC is against his Red personality doing the fucked up shit he does but just lets it happen. I was thinking the Dark Soul powers of the MC are a wereowolf transformation, a uncontrolled warping of his mind and body that he can only hold back before they burst and he changes.

So this dark side of him, is it something alien possessing him? Or is it just the darker side of himself being given free reign? Kind of like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Very Dr Kekyll and Hyde, the inner ego, the primal Id. Now, most Dark Souls don't become corrupted till later in life they have a pre Dark Soul expirence to anchor them, to act as the mask that Taffy who is the normal persona of the MC is.

Our Red didn't have that, he was born warped and it got worse as he got older till he was willing to go to a therapist to create a new self to hide his corruption and that self took over. With other Darksouls, they have a time before being a Dark Soul to act as a reference point for how to act and feel, MC doesn't have that and thus the two selves.

So does a person have some sort of mental break or traumatic event to trigger the dark soul? Or is it just a constant voice in the back of their head slowly wearing them down over time until they eventually fall?

Its a problem that comes with increasing soul power. When people go to expand the limits of their soul, they risk destroying it and turning it into something else, once it starts breaking they can fight it and get out of the fall or it can slowly or in one moment snap

In this case, MC would start story with a normal life but he's on edge. He's bringing a knife to his college, he thinks its for luck but is it really? He's protective of his sister and friends, he's irriated. Its this slow building of dread which is later revealed to be the Dark Soul of the MC realizing other corrupted auras are swarming the place.

MC has weak soul power as his real soul is the Dark Soul, but that changes today as he goes ape shit when they try to ntr mind break his childhood friend. MC wakes up in the hosptial no one sure how he survived. A new presence awoken inside him, offering to help protect their family and friends and warning him of how wrong then town is turning
