So what are the arts of the Samurai? If ninjas are all about brutal death, what have the Samurai honed their techniques for?

I'm thinking Ninja's really empathized jutsu's which in the beginning where illusion's and then over time evolved into more elemental attacks and then the variety they have now.

While the Samuri's went really hard on channeling their chakra through their weapons and armors. Beginning with reinforcing it, then channeling different elemental attacks, and now their at the point where the high end samurai can do bullshit like cut mountains in half or cut the chakra out of jutsu's.

Basically my idea is that Ninja's have a whole bunch of tricks and have a lot more variety in their attacks and techniques. While samurai are a lot more rigid and in their attack and strategies, but given enough practice can become even more bullshit than Ninja's at times.

Elemental armor styles for Samurai is a really cool idea

Jutsu are a arsenal of deadly elemental and other weapons and their taijutsu styles are savage assassin techniques. While the samurai focused on raw power and honing a limited range of moves for use in greater war. A flame and lava Ninja has a tool kit of ninja fire arts while a Samurai has a bomb on a sword

I'd have more ninja techniques with swords for deadly stabs and cuts and so genjutsu is the first ninja art? And from there the other arts developed?

Basically a ninja will plants bombs, put poison on their blades, make deals, lie, cheat, steal, do anything they can to give as many advantages as they can think of. While the samurai just walks up to you and challenges you. No bullshit. No fuss. May the best man win.

Of course real life is a lot more complicated than honest samurai and disloyal Ninja. In fact the reason Ninja get hired so much more than Samurai is that shockingly they are a lot more diplomatic and are a whole lot more subtle. But that's how the average civilian sees it.

I'm thinking Naruto's world was like ours, except in the middle of the feudal age chakra started to appear. Their was a huge warlord period but then it settled down with the creation of the village system for Ninja's and for the Samurai either the surviving nobles came to a agreement or they had their shogun conquered everything and forced peace down everyone's throats.

I'm seeing naruto having to get used to a lot more bloodshed and killing. Naruto the show tried to chicken out of ninja by having the Abnu be the black ops when they are all black ops. a Shinobi is a warrior of death. But the series never grappled with this, using danzo and Abnu to pawn this burden off

And the first uses of chakra being inspired by nature. Stuff like learning how to move water and fire. How to manipulate the senses, or how to connect with nature chakra with over time it growing in complexity as science and their understanding of the world improved.

I imagine attacking a civilian of a Ninja Villiage is grounds for that villiage coming down on you like the wrath of god

I could imagine there are laws where Shinobi in merc work can't get revenge on people for killing their loved ones on mission, but in return people are told do not fuck with the villiage. If you attack the villiage or harm a citizen of it who is not part of the missions or dare stirke at a ninja's home, all bets are off
