The thing about the cube that most of the characters in the story are going to get wrong is that there's no technology what so ever in it. You can't scan it or put it through any analyzers because it'll just look like a normal toy. For Gloria her research starts with looking into the burn victem finding out his story, maybe talking with some of his family or friends.

And in the proccess of that she hear's about an underground bar, no one has ever heard about and when she goes there it's comppletely empty except for the ruins from some massive party that must've been held here.
