Questionable Questing

Were just spit balling idea's right now. I don't have any plans to write this anytime soon.
Andy333
Andy333
This is also so you can get idea's for your own stuff.
Andy333
Andy333
Truthfully I just have a lot of stuff going on in my life right now like finding a job, dealing with the lease on air bnb about to expire, my aunts health problems, and money issues. I just don't have the time to write as much as I would like.

That sucks and I have plenty of backed up ideas. I have to do a writing sesh on sunday to make up for not writing and a writing sesh tomorrow to get good practice in. learning how to like and have fun with writing is important
Andy333
Andy333
Yeah, for me the best writing advice I was ever given is that you need to treat it like a job sometimes. You have to write this many chapters or this many words in a certain amount of time, and if you don't force yourself then you'll always find excuses not to do it.

True but also learn to like your work and enjoying the process of writing

Andy333
You mentioned backed up idea's, what are you working on right now?
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
A warring paths chapter to finish up a fight on to then do a new chapter 1 as I am getting rid of the tournment arc idea as too forced and there's doing a chapter one for dream of chaos or attempting the urban dark fantasy smut idea or the smut fantasy idea

Any stuff your struggling with or need help with?
Andy333

Since I'm not working on my stuff right now, maybe I can help with yours.

My main struggle is liking my work, liking writing as a process, outline skills, and writing the damn work
Andy333
Andy333
Lol, can't help you there. That's all in your head. I can give advice, but to be honest even when I write something really I get super nervous sometimes when I first publish it and have to walk away for like an hour or two because I'm terrified I'm going to get a bunch of comments talking about how much it sucks.
Andy333
Andy333
I know it sounds stupid and I think it sounds stupid talking about it right now, but in the moment you know?

That feeling is the curse of all writers. if you don't feel it, then your not doing it right and have way too much confidence
Andy333

With outlines, something I like doing that helps me sometimes is that I'll block out an important conversation or character moment, and I'll just write the words down the conversation itself and then slowly fill in the action and the physical stuff with the characters later when I'm ready to use that scene.
Andy333
Andy333
Since it lets me remember an important scene even if its a few hundred pages away, plus it's also a really good writing exercise and really helps me get in the head of the charaters so even if I don't use the scene its still useful.

I write in drafts. Pour it out fiery hot as I go with a chapter outline behind it and the real trick is making a story outline
Andy333
Andy333
The secret to writing a outline is just figuring out the impotant scenes your books needs in order for the climax and ending to work. its figuring out the chain of events that led to the ring getting to mordor, or Luke to the death star. What conversations, fights, or personal discoveries are needed for the main character to fight the final enemy?
Andy333
Andy333
What personal stuff does he need to learn to win? Or lose if your writing a tragedy. And the once you have the list of stuff, then you need to sort it down into a timeline of events and now you have an outline. Anyway going to bed. I have a busy day tommorow, hope any of this helped.

And having a character that can go through changes and not be fully formed at the very start of the story
