Well I was thinking how chi is emotion and imagination, with the boss and that old injury, you would think with enough time and enough control over his chi he could heal it. So why not? Well I remember this interview with the actor who played House, the tv Doctor he's actually Britsh its kind of amazing how good of a American accent he came up with.

Anyway, he mentioned that after years of faking that weird walk he has to do because in the character's backstory his leg was crippled, the real actor actually started to develop problems in that leg that over time he's actually contemplated having surgery to get it fixed. Anyway how this ties in with the boss is the pain and humiliation of that injury was so severe he emotionally and physically can't ignore it.

So what I'm thinking is that the boss slept with the daughter of a prominent light figure, and her dad kicked the absolute shit out of him in front of everyone after he challenged that man for the daughters hand. And the real tragedy is that the Boss did really love her and he did genuinely want to be a better person to be with her.
