With a franchise as large and varied as Disney, that's for the best. You don't want to be stuck trying to untangle a plot thread you need for the main story, distracting you from having fun with each of the princesses.

With the MCU, they should've stopped after Thanos, let it sit for a couple years then do a semi reboot. With maybe a couple crowd pleasers like Guardians in-between. Because the big problem is Thanos actually. It's hard to turn back the clock and get rid of time travel and alternate dimensions once they're introduced.

Plus none of the writers were even willing to consider the impacts of five years with half the population gone then back again. Hell I remember Kevin Feige, saying he didn't think any of that matter until COVID happened, and while watchers were willing to ignore it and focus on the last Avengers battle. Going forward none of the writes had a good idea on how to acknowledge it.

And despite how much the super fans complain and screamed about nobody taking Marvel seriously, their writers were not up to the task of handling that heavy of a subject.
