Questionable Questing

I mean I guess the drow wife has some potential. Maybe some intrigue there or we could get a glimpse at the mini civil war they're going through, could be an opportunity for some weapon or ancient magic to end up in Malon's hand and make him a legitimate threat. But as it stands he's again stuck in the middle of nowhere reduced to ranting at captured slaves about how strong he is.
Andy333
Andy333
Which I mean is fine, but for the very last chapter in your quest and the next villain your trying to hype up I was kind of expecting someone a little more threatening and dangerous.

With Malon he isn't a grand villain. He's a pirate plotting to with the help of the Drow slave city control the waves. A gangster
Andy333
Andy333
And he works well with that roll, I was just a little excited to see some of the grander more lovecraftian threats. Maybe the Others? Although your planning on making them more human. Maybe some giant three head dragon out of the ruins of Valyria? Some ancient unknowable god? I kind of want to see how you would handle an almost mythical beast or other worldly monster in your story.
Andy333
Andy333
I feel like that's the natural progression of the story. We have the mythical heroes, as flawed and as sex obsessed as they are, now here are some mythical threats for them to deal with.

I don't do eldritch or monsters. Any God or epic monster I write is human
Andy333
Andy333
The scariest part about eldritch monsters isn't that they're inhuman, it's how very human they actually are despite how different they look and think. But I get your point.

Politics and religion and emotions are what I work with

Malon's goal as we develop him is to be a likable family man and free spirited rogue who's a absolutely horrible human being
Andy333
Andy333
Give him some scenes with his sons, make it entirely non sexual and have it be the interesting mix of horrifying and wholesome as he earnestly teaches them the tenants of the Iron price and its faith. Make it feel like your standard Sunday school sermon, complete with immature little boys who would rather be play fighting outside, an exasperated dad who's trying to teach them.
Andy333
Andy333
Then end it with him finally reaching them with this amazing adventure story that proves the bible is more than just silly names and boring rules. Make it look and feel like something you would watch on the Hallmark channel and roll your eyes at. But then make the things he's teaching be entirely centered around rape and slavery, and have everyone treat it as something completely normal.

That can combo with idea I had of him taking them out to sail and its a grand adventure turning dark with raiding a merchant ship and Malon offering his sons any of the girls on there. But only if they pay the Iron Price. One boy easily does it while another can't. Malon slaps him and tells him this is what he does. This is the family business and he needs to he strong.

Revolted and crying the boy cuts the throat of a captive. When the other son goes to mock him Malon tells him it'd also a bad thing to too easily take a life. That a man like Euron Crow's eye does that and he is not missed.

That actually reminds me a whole lot of the twin scene in breaking bad, give me a second.

Was never into Diablo to be honest. My parents were though surprisingly since they usually don't like video games.
