Questionable Questing

Anyway over time these old gods started moving away from Earth and there connection with humanity. With humans, as they grew smarter and stronger were over time growing past the need for the old gods anymore. With Slyvian in particular taking the break up pretty badly, attempting with increasingly horrific results to try and keep humanity inside her before giving up and moving on like everyone else.
Andy333
Andy333
With these horrific results being the so-called Marriage, where two and sometimes more people are literally fused together, body, soul, and mind into someone or something new. With Slyvian experimenting with these rituals in the hope of fusing humanity back inside and into her.
Andy333
Andy333
With the end of the old ones being ushered in by Alll-mer also called the ascended ones. Now quick disclaimer this won't make sense right now, but it'll come into play later. New gods are not as strong as old gods. New gods are dependent on humanity and its worship. They can be killed with mortal weapons. They make tons of mistakes. Old gods are forces of nature. They aren't human. They have no connection with us.

Slyvian sees herself as the mother of humanity and doesn't want the kids to leave the house? Gives some human character to this eldritch monster. That is very fucked up but with some sympathetic perspective.
Andy333
Andy333
Anyway Alll-mer is basically Jesus of this setting. He was a mortal man who along with twelve apostles used his great powers to heal and help people, and in the process inspired a revolution that took down the greedy cruel kings that worshiped the old gods. Since while the old gods were gone, they were so powerful pieces of their power still reminded even thousands of years after they left.
Andy333
Andy333
Now there's some argument ins getting who Alll-mer was. Some say it was Slyvian's last gift to humanity, and she crafted the perfect human to help usher in the new age before she left. Some say he was just a completely normal dude who stumbled his way into power and decided to use it for good. Regardless, he became the first human to ascend to become an old god and he allowed humans to advance past them.
Andy333
Andy333
Moving on. Without the old gods, there was a time of great chaos as all these monsters and entities that used to be scared away by the gods now took up residence on earth. Also all the old scriptures and guiding principles based on the old gods teaching were slowly withering away leaving the world in a state of chaos. So an adventuring party decided to travel to the city of Ma'habre.

Al mere becomes a old God yet not a inhuman monster?
Andy333
Andy333
With the city of Ma'habre, also called the city of the gods, being where the old gods used to reside and where remnants of their former power still lingered on. With this adventuring party taking on the mantle of the old gods and becoming the new one. Basically guiding humanity through a period of time and embodying different roles depending on what people need.
Andy333
Andy333
But the problem is that new gods are dependent on humanity to worship them for power, and over time their legends fade, the empires they helped create crumble, and people forget them. Thus over time they weaken and a new adventuring party rises up to replace them. Thus creating a bust boom cycle, As each time the new gods are at their strongest they bring about war and great change.
Andy333
Andy333
Then they weaken. They stagnate. They started making mistakes and losing touch with humanity. Their legends and power falls. Only for a new adventuring party to rise up and replace them. With only the old gods remaining forever in power, with out of all of them only Alll-Mere maintained his connection to humanity.

As All Mere is the Jesus. The God of true humanity
Andy333
Andy333
Except he's not enough to save humanity. So through some very convoluted series of events that would totally spoil the two games and the series, which seriously you should go play it, two new Old gods are created to rise up. Each acting as one step further for humanity to advance and judging by how the story is going, eventually in the long run for all of humanity to become old gods themselves.
Andy333
Andy333
With the only hiccup being the sulfur God, which is the remains of an ancient unnamed old god fusing together with the pain and anger in Alll-mer's heart that he specifically cast away before he became a God so that he could only be pure and empathetic. With this Sulfer god, named that since he's trapped in lava, slowly rising up over the course of the two games and is basically the satan or devil of the setting.

So he's evil or more complicated then that? Satan as tempted or punisher of humanity?
Andy333
Andy333
Both? Kind of? We don't know much about him right now, with the rumors going around that the third game of the series whenever it comes out is going to be specifically centered around the Sulfur god and trying to defeat or join him. But he's basically pure evil. He just all the nasty bits of humanity fused into one being. With joining him requires you to go through a trial which is centered around killing.
Andy333
Andy333
But on the other hand. His big message is transcending your humanity and becoming something more. With his eyes killing, fighting, and suffering are the tools to transform you into a better version of yourself. By suffering, you learn and grow. So his ultimate goal is to make everyone suffer more so that they can become the best versions of themselves.
Andy333
Andy333
So, he's evil but it's evil done with a purpose? I mean he doesn't get any joy off of seeing people in pain. But he does like seeing people hurting and then either fighting back or learning how to live with it. In his eyes that's the path for humanity to ultimately become like the old gods.

This is wacko logic
Andy333
Andy333
It's an old god. It's not human. Doesn't have human emotions or logic. lol.
