What's wrong with real life? You just have the normal MC working a boring job, slowly waking up to the more mysterious world around him. It's actually quite similar to a lot of detective novels in that way, probably why urban fantasy crossover with noir so much. Someone who doesn't know all the major players in the crime or police world who acts as a reader surrogate as they get thrust into this dangerous world after stumbling on a murder plot. Having the detective explain all his methods and complex ideas into a digestible method for them. And seeing the relationship grow and the mystery of who they can trust.

Have that same character arc slapped on to your MC and his new companion a very untrustworthy Succubus, who may or may not be plotting something, and you've already got half the story written for you.

Eh I get that. I specifically struggle with sci Fi sometimes just with how my brain works, I feel the need to explain in a logical manner how all the technology works and how it affects everything when honestly having an in-depth explanation of hyperdrive would've hurt shows and movies like Star trek and star wars more than helped.

SignlessAcolyte is pretty good. He likes writing stories, rather than just straight porn so anything you get with him will take a few chapters of set up before you get to the fun stuff. But the guy also has his kinks and isn't afraid to show them. Has a couple one shots that are pretty good too. Almost Friends from Cyberpunk, about V and Takemura bonding.
