Exactly! Just like everything else in psychology. lol. But from what doctors do know, it's the combination of certain genetic traits that cause your brain to be wired just slightly off, and then that's combined with an abusive childhood or horrible environment that sets it all off. I watched interviews with detectives that deal with this stuff, and their explanation is genetics is the gun, abuse is the trigger.

A little bit of that, a little bit of genetic engineering that gave all Viltrum really heavy breeding fetishes to help with the repopulation efforts, just the way his more emotional human side is interacting with his Viltrum side causing some weird feedbacks, the lack of training to rear in his instincts. All of that and more, mixing together.

How is the human side causing weird feedbacks?

Humans have more natural empathy than Viltrums. So Mark has a side that can just snap someone's neck without feeling anything, and then he has a side that can look at that same man and understand that he might have a wife or some kids and then feel bad. Which creates that weird feedback loop, where he knows he should feel guilty, angry, or sad, but he isn't.

Yet viltrumites clearly have empathy for friends and family naturally too. So they don't have none. How it differ from a human?

He knows intellectually controlling his mom and his sister into being his breeding slaves is bad, and yet for some reason it feels really good. It's the intellectual side of him fighting against the emotional side causing him to lock up and try to repress himself since he doesn't understand it. Which is where a lot of his problems come from.

And Mark clearly likes saving people and thinks they should be saved and thinks people hurting is bad.

I would say Viltrum have selective empathy. They can basically turn it off and completely ignore it if they need to if they get into combat or get angry enough.

It's like with Nolan and the Flaxion's, once he's locked in so to speak he won't feel a thing commenting genocide basically. Of course if he has an intimate relationship with someone, then he can't turn it off. No matter how hard he tries.

Ah. And in this AU, Nolan has too many connections to the Justice League and the young heroes he's trained to turn off the Empathy. Nice. So how do things start to get weird with the breeding slave desire turning on for Debbie and Blackfire from what it was before Flaxen invasion? Flaxen where his empahty for the first time in his life is locked out by viltrumite killing rage?

Well I mentioned it before but even if he's able to turn off his empathy, he's still intellectually able to record what's happening and then unlike most Viltrum, Mark is able to ask himself later why the hell did I feel so angry. Which leads to him asking himself some other uncomfortable questions. Why did it feel so good to let loose? Why did Blackfire and Eve look so hot covered in blood?
