Tristan is set up by his demon adopted grandmaw mentor to have stolen from a local gang so he is forced to go to the Dominon of Lost Things and there he and Angrahd join up with a crew of nobles and non nobles to prove themselves worthy of joining the Watch.

Samus is pretty good bread

Well that is book two. Book one is a whole bunch of other stuff as Tristan and Angarahd meet only briefly a few times in book one. Tristan is with Maryam who scouts him for herself and Song is with Angarahd. Song and Maryam are friends but Maryam dislikes Anargrahd for being a Malini noble while Song thinks Tristan is a shiftless man without principles.
