Tristan is a remorseless street rat followed by a Goddess she expects will merge with him to turn him into a Saint, a Contractor fused with their god into a monster.

Throughout book two they clash. Tristan tries to solve problems but Song hates how he does so, while Tristan tires of her constant attacks against his character. It comes to a head and by the end of book two they develop trust and reliance on each other as comrades.
