Naps are very good. How did the seminar go, and my aunt and uncle were doing really good. My uncle in particular, he lost some weight and was still a little weak but he's moving around and doing stuff. He's taking trips and planning. For a guy who just got out of surgery a couple months ago he's doing great.
Sorry, had a quick snack. Garlic Bread is so amazing. But my cousin's doing alright too. Her kids are having a rough time, I mean it's a divorce, but especially since the two of them never fought and with how quickly he left. There were just never any signs to give them a heads up so they're feeling a little lost. But my cousin got a book deal and has started writing again, so she's actually doing really well.
Tried reading Throne of Glass by Sarah Imass over conference. This horrible book. Got only 5 chapters in. Went to read Lords of Underworld paranormal romance instead. Better but also had silly writing like instant love at first sight.
Makes me think of these female author sex romance fantasies vs a guy's
I think the guy had some issues he was holding onto for a long time and instead of openly acknowledging them he kind of turtled up and ignored them until eventually they just broke over. Kind of like how someone explodes over a broken cup when they've been having a bad day, when the real reason their mad is that they hate their job or their boss or whatever.
Although with how quickly he moved on, and packed up all his stuff, I'm willing to bet he's been seeing someone for awhile. Six months is what my cousin thinks. You don't move out that fast unless you already have someone ready to come pick you up, and especially out of a ten year marriage. He has a girl.
But yeah with female romance and male romance, I think a big key difference is that guys are usually a lot more straightforward about not just the circumstance but also their feelings and what they need to do to fix it. I big reason I know the author is a male versus a female, is that when females write arguments, the subject matter will be one thing, but the feelings will be something completely else.
Girls write of a mysterious stranger who becomes devoted to them. Guys have a childhood friend or a incest harem fantasy of hot family women. A girl in work or class they like. Guys seem to want known girls to become theirs
Two people will be arguing about trusting one another only for the girl to suddenly break down and admit some tragic backstory about her mom or the dude will suddenly get angry and smash something since a past girlfriend cheated. The argument isn't just about trust, it's also an excuse to explore some deeper problem or reveal some hidden emotions.
While for guys, when they argue it's really practical. I need this from you. I want this. This is how we can compromise and figure things out. A lot of times it's about finding a way to calm down and remove the emotions from the issue, so that the two can figure things out logically.
I want to disrupt that idea. Being straightforward is true, but guys aren't always logical. I'd say in many cases trying to be directly logical is code for ignoring the feeling or driven by anger. Guys are bloody stupid when it comes to their emotions.
And for paranormal romance talk, Lords of the Underworld has these demigod soldiers made by the Greek pantheon who were meant to protect Pandora's box but opened it and are possessed by the demons in there as punishment. Each book a new girl calms the savage beast inside the Lords.
I completely agree. I think trying to break everything down into something that can be placed in a box or is completely logical is really stupid because people are not logical and will make really dumb choices without any regard for the consequences and trying to rationalize that, instead of trying to figure out the emotions, will just lead to resentment.
But, I think this ignores the fullness of the guys. I think these narratives of improving guys are as bad in their way as guys making fuck slaves of girls. Both deny full respect to either a guy's or girl's character. Often the troublesome parts the intended audience don't want to deal with.
