Oh yea good catch, edited! I was thinking something else when I wrote that line, but now I realize that even if it makes sense to me due to knowing the background plot, it doesn't make sense to readers, and anyway, contradict makes sense and still suits the plot I have in mind. Thank you for pointing it out!
