You've definitely captured the scrolls-lore vibe here. That feeling where you only comprehend the barest bit of a epiphany. Like tasting the smell of a meal in the air for a brief second before the wisps are gone again. Frustrating but undeniably pleasant.
All hail SaintJibblies and the Holy Gospel of Leonidas!

Theory time: He was almost certainly going to call him Lorkhan here. Lorkhan was the trickster god that is basically responsible for Mundus (and therefore the mortal races existing). And what does everyone's favorite skeleton do? Goes around assisting in the preservation of Mundus and life from world ending threats. Also, after the creation of Mundus, either as a punishment or it willingly happening, Lorkhan's divine center thingymajig, the Heart of Lorkhan was removed, and the remnants of him were exiled to walk the mortal planes. So, Mr. Skeleton is probably the remnants of Lorkhan, and goes about helping save the thing he is responsible for creating."You were never meant to remain this long, L-no, you go by a new name, for now. What do they call you? The Veilwalker? Apt..."
Yeah... I have no clue what went on in this chapter. I don't know if this chapter is worse or I'm not sufficientlyhighenlightened, but it certainly feels like the story has been making less sense as it continues. Which is fairly on topic for Elder Scrolls stuff, but it would be nice to understand at some point. ;P
I am fairly certain this is a metaphysical concept, not someone literally dreaming. Metaphysics is quite difficult to understand if taken to the material. The world of the Elder Scrolls is literally the dream of a slumbering god. Every person in Tamriel is technically an infinitesimally small portion of the dreaming god in question, and they only have their individuality because they don't realize their world is a dream.
One of the paths to power is mantling, described as "Walk like them until they must walk like you" - you are "reenacting the mythic patterns established by [the gods] until their power is surrendered to the mantler" - you behave like a given divine being did, following their patterns of behavior, and eventually you become that given divine being.
So it's not too far-fetched of an idea for the sheer weight of Belief to empower things - even never-before-seen languages. They already believe Masky is some sort of ancient being that has practically always existed, and that may or may not have already had an impact. Masky might actually be Lorkhan, might have always been Lorkhan, or might only recently have become "always been" Lorkhan.
TES is a drug trip waiting to happen, just try to enjoy the lizards and cats.
Love the progression so far. Also love the writing style and the Immaculate depiction of such a subjective and ethereal art as magic. A wonderful balance between explanation and allusion. The story so far was an experience: distinct, but somewhat mirroring the metaphysical descriptions of Dylz in their blood mage story. Completely delightful.Trust me, I'll be dialing the insanity up even more but I'll also be giving reasonings and explanations along with it all!

"Cedric blinked. He stood in the murky void now, submerged in its fathomless darkness, lost, alone, and without a guide to get out."
