Behind The Spotlight Chapter 150

"Cut! Good job, guys! Axel, rest for half an hour. Your stunt double will take care of this scene."

The director gave him a thumbs-up after being satisfied with the footage, his voice echoing across the set through the megaphone. They had just filmed a scene where Axel had to run 200 meters while chasing an escaping opponent.

His breath was still ragged, beads of sweat rolling down his temple.

"Alright."

Axel wiped his sweat, his chest rising and falling. His personal assistant handed him cold, refreshing water to soothe his throat, and Axel thanked him.

As of March, Axel had been filming The Born Identity for three months, a film based on a hit novel from the 80s. Before post-production began, Axel trained extensively for his role, and it was tiring. But because of his experience as a retired soldier, he didn't have any problems with the intense training. The drills, gun handling, and hand-to-hand combat reminded him of his military days, both thrilling and haunting. He even remembered his old days as a soldier... even the time when he got shot.

Anyway, the director of The Born Identity was satisfied with his performance. He said that Axel was adapting to his role well. Even his portrayal of an amnesiac man convinced the director. Axel had managed to show confusion and determination so naturally that the crew often forgot he was acting.

They only cast Axel because of his height and demeanor, which matched the actor they were looking for. But they didn't have many expectations of him in heavy scenes. Most thought he was just another comedy actor, yet his intensity proved them wrong.

Considering his great performance in Face: Swap, it was surprising how many still underestimated him.

Now, they witnessed how good Axel was in his role as Jayson Born. His cold stares and precise movements fit perfectly with the mysterious amnesiac assassin persona the director envisioned.

While the stunt double was filming a dangerous scene, Axel's personal assistant informed him that his son was calling. The assistant approached cautiously, phone in hand.

Axel took the phone and walked away from the filming location, passing by cameras and coiled cables, into a quiet section of the set. He answered the call once he was far enough away.

"Dad, our teacher told me that there will be a parent meeting this week. Will you attend?" John's voice was clear on the phone. His nanny was with him. Because of Axel's busy schedule lately, he needed someone to take care of John while he was gone.

"Of course, I'll clear my schedule that day. What date is the meeting?" Axel smiled faintly, leaning against the wall, his exhaustion momentarily forgotten.

"Friday."

"I'll be there." Axel recognized his priorities well.

"Are you sure? What about your work? I don't want your boss to get mad. I can talk to my teacher instead." John understood that his father was working hard to provide him with a better future. His words showed both maturity and concern far beyond his age.

Axel chuckled, his heart welled up as he listened to his son's voice, the corners of his lips lifting with affection.

"It's fine. I'll be there. You don't have to worry."

"Hm, thanks, Dad... I love you."

"I love you too." Axel smiled, his heart warmed. John was finally opening up to him, something that had taken time after years of awkwardness.

Once the call ended, Axel found the producer and told him that he would leave the filming site early on Friday, explaining the reason. The producer, a middle-aged man, looked at his clipboard, the filming schedule, and nodded understandingly. They were still filming The Born Identity in Los Angeles, and Axel always returned home every night to make sure he was there for his son, even if that meant driving an hour through traffic.

The producer had no problem with it. They could adjust the filming that day. The production was ahead of schedule because of Axel's performance. His discipline and punctuality had earned him the crew's respect. The producer was happy about that, even patting Axel's shoulder with a grin, grateful to have such a dedicated lead actor.

"Huup, huup, huup..."

Wyatt was gasping for air while jogging, cherry blossoms fluttering gently in the cool morning breeze. Right now, he was on vacation in Tokyo, Japan, to relax. He had met new people, eaten different kinds of delicacies from sushi to takoyaki and ramen, and watched all kinds of anime... some of which were questionable by Western standards but normal in Japan. Anyway, he was looking for inspiration.

He didn't forget that while having fun, finding inspiration was also an important part of his career as a director. His creative mind absorbed inspiration from every foreign city he visited. Actually, he was interested in filming a sequel to one of his movies, but he was having difficulties, the storylines and ideas floated in his head, but none felt quite right.

First was The Accidental Wedding Crashers. Wyatt felt like this movie deserved a sequel and could become a franchise. However, Uni-versus Pictures was interested in buying the rights to the movie. Wyatt and Collin had no problem with that, but William Edward was the difficult one.

This college guy wasn't looking for money. In fact, William talked to Wyatt and said that he was interested in producing the sequel to The Accidental Wedding Crashers once he graduated from film school. Wyatt respected the young man's passion. Considering that William was rich, he could probably do that.

Second was Week On A Cruise Ship. Wyatt was interested in making a sequel to this type of movie, but he was still searching for inspiration, perhaps a new setting, somewhere tropical. Maybe he could find inspiration in Japan. Uni-versus Pictures would probably be happy if Wyatt made a sequel to Week On A Cruise. Once a movie became a franchise, it gave the studio better leverage. Why? Because Uni-versus Pictures could use the franchise to maintain its status and keep a loyal audience.

Metro Golden Mayer was still standing because 008: Jamie Bond had kept it alive. The studio used that franchise as a way to hold on and survive in Hollywood.

As long as Uni-versus Pictures had movie franchises, they could use them to keep their business strong.

As for The Frightening Movie, which he had recently filmed, Wyatt wanted to let it rest first. It had exhausted him creatively, and he wanted to avoid burning out.

'If I can't find inspiration to film a sequel, I can try a new movie instead,' he thought to himself.

"Hey, Mister, why are you not jogging? Come on, you have to work hard. You said you want to get slimmer." A Japanese woman in yoga pants encouraged Wyatt, her tone teasing yet cheerful. She was sexy and gorgeous.

"Alright, alright," Wyatt answered, running up to her. He loved watching her ass bounce whenever she jogged. He loved running behind her...

The Japanese woman was a girlfriend he rented for a month while he was in Tokyo. Apparently, you could rent a girlfriend in Japan, something that initially shocked him.

Wyatt didn't take advantage of anything, he respected boundaries. Of course, his eyes were not part of the boundaries... He was looking for inspiration, after all.

Instead, his rental girlfriend acted more like a physical trainer, helping him exercise every day and motivating him, and it seemed to be working.

He actually saw results, realizing that he had lost 3 kilograms that month, his face slightly slimmer. Since his visa would last longer, he decided to stay in Japan for a while before traveling to Taiwan, Korea, and the Philippines. He planned his travels with a mix of excitement and purpose, hoping to find a story worth telling.

As for his box office share from The Frightening Movie, the accountant would handle that, he trusted his team enough not to worry about it.

As of March, The Frightening Movie had grossed over $181 million at the North American box office, while its international box office reached $168 million. Posters of the movie still appeared in theaters. That meant The Frightening Movie had grossed over $349 million worldwide.

With a 10% North American box office share, Wyatt would earn $18 million from the movie, a satisfying number that made him grin proudly.
