I've begun work on adapting the Chaos Gacha to my needs. It is currently a mess, and I'll probably never complete it, or at least never be happy with everything. But I figure I should make mention of it, and try and keep a log of all the changes I'm making.
Spent all last night changing bits and pieces of the source code of the app, which I've pulled from Bronzdeck's github. It'd probably go a hell of alot smoother if I knew what I was doing. I'll probably need to crack open my O'Reilly Python books at some point if I do any big changes, but I'm hoping that I can leave most of the source code intact.
Added a new Category, titled: Fauna. For summoning animals that can be used as harvestable resources. I'll likely need to do the same with Flora, too, but that is a ways away.
Fauna functions by giving the user of the Chaos Gacha a certain number of breedable pairs. They are completely independent, except for the fact that they are completely loyal to whoever tore their ticket. Besides the initial summons, they will live out their full lifecycles, reproducing endlessly so long as they can flourish in whichever environments they are summoned.
Even their offspring and descendants remain loyal to whoever initially summoned them.
Whoever summoned them will also be able to harvest parts and materials from each individual member of the species daily, for a total of 10kg or 22lbs a day of materials. This is harmless, so no butchering is necessary for those that just want pets but still want to benefit from crafting parts. This even applies to both offspring and descendants beyond the initial summons. But has a hard cap about harvesting use, requiring at least a greater population number than the initial summons, and also at least one breeding pair per species to benefit from the daily harvest.
Fauna summons will also replenish should their populations drop below a single breeding pair.
To help with overpopulation issues and massive ecological changes, there will also be a ticket for each Gacha tier that represents a redeemable token. When used, the user may redeem any single species of Fauna that matches the token's Gacha tier in value. All summons of the redeemed species will be removed from the world and the user will receive a refund ticket of exactly one lower tier than the original ticket they used to summon the Fauna species that they are redeeming. If the token is used to redeem a Bronze tier Gacha ticket, the user will receive a full refund of a Bronze tier Fauna Gacha ticket instead.
Besides that, I renamed Traits to Perks, because that honestly makes better sense. At least for me. And I resized the app's menu to better fit widescreen displays of atleast 1600x900, although when maximized it should be 1920x1080. I do this because I do not have, nor want any monitors of greater resolution than 1920x1080.
The Fauna summons list is pretty bare bones now. I'm going to be adding to it for some time. Currently working on Monster Hunter's Endemic animals.
My hope is to incorporate stuff from the Celestial lines of CYOAs, and maybe some things from Essence meta, Waifu Catalog, and various other CYOAs and Jumpchains I like.
I've some ideas for other rule changes. While I like the default achievement based system for determining when the user should roll, I feel there is room for "The Weight of the Pen" system for earning rolls as well.
I wasn't happy with just how tame the official Chaos Gacha is, so it is my hope that the changes that I will be making to it shall truly embrace the spirit of CHAOS!
If there is a big enough interest, I'll upload a build of my modified Chaos Gacha once it has more meat on it.
