• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Your oppressors are sporting flashy new colored names! This is to help us stand out in the forum lists and such, or when you see us in profile posts. Administrators are maroon, and Moderators are teal.

You may have noticed a few people with green and orange names. These are donators and subscribers, respectively, who gained the colored names in exchange for losing the banners under their avatars. Future donators and subscribers will also get the colored names.

In the future, banned users will be distinguished between tempbans and permabans. You might even see people get muted.

Finally, the User Title Ladder(what changed your title from New Member to Member, etc) has more than 5 entries. If you don't enter a custom title, it will give you a title depending on how many messages you have posted. It starts and 0 and runs up to 10k. Have fun acquiring them. :)

>Transparent Administrator baner

Oh now that's just pretty.

Unable to post but still able to view the forums I'd imagine.

Could be something different but that's what comes to mind first and foremost.

Yeah. I discovered how to do it. It's not just post, either. Someone that is muted is unable to post, like, edit, PM, profile post, or vote in polls.

Seems like it does everything you'd meaningfully want from banning someone, unless they were being banned for being underaged.

The only thing they're still allowed to do is read the NSFW sections of the board without sockpuppeting and eating a permanent ban.

Exactly.
I can't see why tempbanning people for reasons other than "You can come back when you're old enough for porn" would be a thing when you can tempmute them instead.

Neat! That said, you may wish to be aware that with the colour changes, they can be harder to read, especially when using greyscale mode (for eyestrain issues) when using the Dark Responsive High Contrast style. The orange isn't bad, but the teal and green become fairly low contrast, and the maroon Administrator colour is very, very low contrast (for reference, I can read regular text with the brightness of my monitor at 0. I can't see the maroon until I get to about 8, and have to go up to about 28 to read it comfortably, at which point, everything else is much too bright).

Another thing is that, unlike the banners, there's no obvious way to tell why the colour is different when one runs across someone's name. Assuming that one of the functions of having a visible distinction for donors and subscribers is as a sort of notice or reminder to people that "financially supporting the forum is a thing that you too could be doing," it loses some effectiveness if people looking at it can't tell at a glance why there's a difference. My apologies if this is something that people have been asking you specifically to get rid of, and it's been discussed already. I did check back over a year in the Suggestions & Bugs section and didn't find anything like that, so I'm hoping that I'm not rehashing something. Thanks for all the work you do for the forum.
