The world known as Neque is currently in a rather...tranquil state.
A world dominated by demons was not exactly as bad as one may think. Mostly anyway. While incredibly ambitious, selfish and individualistic the demons that rule the world were not lacking in reason. While aggressive they weren't instinctively cruel, while greedy they still could be negotiated with and they, like any other race, had a healthy amount of civility in them. For most of the races which inhabited Neque the demons were an affable or at least tolerable existence to have around.
Except for the humans.
Forcibly conquered and enslaved centuries ago, humans have had the unfortunate circumstances of becoming a slave race to the demons. Though the reasons for the demon's until then unprecedented violent and power hungry behaviour was now vague today, it is without a doubt true that their actions had been born from their instinctual lust for power. For centuries the demons had made sure to maintain their control over the humans and oppress them at their leisure to a degree beyond their normal egotistical behaviour towards the other races of Neque.
Resentment towards their malevolent overlords has increased exponentially since then and it is assumed that the only reason that open rebellion hasn't sprung yet is due to the massive power gap between the two races. Even then the frequency of minor conflicts occurring has increased over the past few decades and though their control over the humans hasn't wavered the demons are beginning to feel something ominous coming soon. They will soon regret not taking this feeling seriously.
...While all that is important, the focus of this story is for now not on the humans; but rather you.
You are called [ ] _____ and you are a [ ] Male/Female
You are also a demon who has just graduated at the young age of twenty from your studies at the military academy in this city of Metuo, the secondary capital of the Demonic Empire. Like most of your kin you have been subjected to the whims of your ambitions and had joined the luxurries academy at the prospect of gaining power. Such opportunities to get commander training are rather rare and if it wasn't for your family ties and a whole lot of happy coincidences, you most likely wouldn't have ever been able to get the opportunity to learn there. Among the students of the you have gained notoriety as being:
[ ] The most ambitious of the ambitious. Even among the self serving and power craving demons you are something special. You were known for having a force of personality that will get whatever you want when you put your full passion into it. Which you did. A lot. You are also known as somewhat reckless.
[ ] The sane and rationale one. An uncommon trait that most demons seem to miss, you are known for not immediately following your whims and thinking things through most of the time. It has allowed you at times to outmaneuver your rather rash comrades and put yourself at the top. While you have no lack of ambition yourself, you have in secret been called a rather indecisive person who over thinks things.
[ ] An...unusual person. For whatever reason you have the tendency of thinking in an odd manner. It reflects in your speech which has caused you to be called a consummate liar or an exceptionally good twister of truth. It reflects in your actions which appears to have vague, undecipherable motives behind them. And it reflects in your unnatural personality which has caused your classmates to call you either insane
or a genius as you seem to somehow, in ways that people have difficulty comprehending, always find yourself benefiting from your actions. You find their claims rather amusing.
You will most likely have to send a letter back to your family informing/gloating to them about your success at school, especially due to the degree that you have succeeded in gaining power. You currently live away from your family in an impressive mansion near the outskirts of the city. It is a remarkable building with high value and is notable for being one of the larger houses in the city, especially considering the lack of occupants living there. It was because of exceptionally good opportunities appearing to you that you had obtained the house and:
pick two
[ ] An exceptionally alluring and powerful sword with much history behind it, though most of that history is still unknown to you. You had found this sword deep in the bowels of the mansion; sealed and hidden away. It was mere accident that you had stumbled across it and unsealed it. The few times you brought out the blade you had been swarmed by collectors and even veteran warriors all asking/demanding for the sword after catching a single glance. They had offered fairly outrageous prices for it that was probably worth your house a hundred times over that would even be enough to pay to get into the ridiculously expensive academy, but you had always turned the offers down. You had even had to fight on multiple occasions against thieves attempting to steal the blade. There seems to be something about the blade that draws you and other demons to it...
[ ] Two servants, a human female and her son/daughter. You had purchased the female several year ago so that you could have someone take care of your mansion while you studies at the Academy. For the first few months she was somewhat apprehensive towards you holding some of the resentment that all humans seemed to harbour towards your kind and only began to warm up to you after months working with tolerable if not warm conditions from you. The real change came when she was assaulted and horribly tortured by several other humans who had grew loathing towards her due to her connection to you, and you had saved her from them. She became incredibly affable if not obsessive towards your kind afterwards, along with becoming somewhat unhinged. She had a child some time later and to your surprise found that the child displayed unnaturally great potential for magic.
[ ] An incredibly large collection of knowledge that is now being stored within your extended library. Donated to you from a mysterious source you have yet to find any clues as to who has sent you these books. Despite studying the material in great detail over the past few years, you seem to have only managed to scratch the bare minimum of it's contents and have little idea of the relevance of most of it with your current knowledge. Truly if you were to attempt to sell the books you could at least gain enough money to pay for your current housing ten fold. But this appears to be a rather unique opportunity for you and you are loathed to give up any advantage you could get. As they say: knowledge is power.
[ ] A large amount of gold. Quite simply speaking, you are really, really, really rich. Really with this much cash some of the less ambitious demons would be fine with what you have and would be willing to settle down and live a good life with this much cash. They aren't what you would call demons. With this much cash there are several more doors open to you then with normal demons.
With all that you have, you are having difficulty thinking that things could possible go wrong.
