Masochistic hate of the main character is a big part of the games' appeal and at least the antagonists are worse.

Nah, Mikado would be interesting, but I'm not seeing him getting the same information network/gang without the communication level of given by the internet and cell phones.

Plus I just want to see a quest where Nobunaga is actually used, mainly due to a recent sengoku binge. An Alexander is fine too though.
 
Actually, I'm curious about Sarutobi. Does he get summoned as an old man? Do we summon Heroic Spirit Sarutobi, all of his skills, the prime of his youth, plus Noble Phantasms? I'm assuming Voidhaxx covers the cost.

Sarutobi's awesome, I'm just wondering what version of him would be used and what kind of story he'd be used to tell.

Mostly I'm thinking, "Fuck, Kirche is only gonna have this summon for a few years tops, and what else is there for Sarutobi to do be exercise his pimp hand on all challengers?"

Admittedly, the Professor would be fun.

But I'm more tempted by a quest using historical figures. We get lots of anime around here.

Honestly though, Sarutobi being Lifedrasil (sp?) would probably be best fit. Shit-tons of power, another suicide technique, the one most likely to justify extended lifespan and revitalizing Sarutobi. Also, The Professor don't need no Gandalfr haxx.

Double points if Sarutobi has the Death God's Seal on him, and the Familiar Runes are the only thing keeping the Shinigami from claiming its due.

That's the thing, isn't it? In a way it's better if it's the Professor and not the leaping-monkey who gets through. The Professor went out like a boss and might well decide that if this is the afterlife, it's not so bad, and trust in the strength of the city full of people he left after him...

And he could teach Kirche. I hate having arguments about whether chakra counts as magic, so I'm saying up-front that my best guess is that willpower is primarily yin-chakra and mages have a mass kekkei genkai that lets them cast seallessly without correspondingly-high levels of yang-chakra - at least, that's what Sarutobi would conclude. Void mages would have the disadvantage of not being able to cast non-Void spells without seals and physical conditioning.

Just... no. Sometimes it's true, sure; I bet the real Tokugawa Hidetada was not a total bro like Benitora.

But neat new interpretations add to the awesome and prestige of historical figures; they can't diminish them by being 'better', because there would be no standard by which to judge the new versions better were it not for the existence of the original.

And it goes both ways. That's why Nasu-Gil is still an enjoyable character, even though he can't measure up to his incarnation in the myth or the guy he's loosely-inspired by.

Silly people, those cups are so beautiful. I mean, golden skull cups? that's kind of awesome.

Though if he actually made cups out of them was debatable, he did have golden heads. And that's a sure sign of a upstanding and classy fellow.

Lack of knowledge: European language had me confused at Athalhund though.
