The morning sun broke over the misty peaks of Mount Paozu, casting long, golden shadows through the ancient forests. Here, isolated from the bustling cities of Earth, an eleven-year-old boy named Goku was entirely in his element.

With a cheerful grunt, Goku hurled a massive, fallen pine tree into the air, caught it effortlessly on his shoulder, and began the trek back to his small, dome-shaped house. He had a spiky mop of untamable black hair, a brown monkey tail swishing rhythmically behind him, and an appetite that could rival a black hole.

"Grandpa!" Goku called out cheerfully, setting the massive log down near the front door. He bowed respectfully to the glowing, four-star orange sphere sitting atop a small cushion. "I'm gonna go catch some lunch! I'm starving!"

Minutes later, Goku was perched on a branch overlooking a rushing river, his tail dangling into the water as a makeshift fishing lure. Splash. A giant, saber-toothed fish breached the surface, snapping its jaws. With a delighted laugh, Goku delivered a swift, crushing kick to the beast's head, knocking it out cold.

He dragged his prize onto the dirt road, his stomach rumbling.

That was when the metal monster appeared.

It came roaring around the mountain bend - a blue, boxy beast with four black wheels, moving faster than any animal Goku had ever seen. Inside it sat a teenage girl with teal hair, her eyes widening in sheer terror as she slammed on the brakes.

But it was too late. The car collided with Goku head-on.

BANG!

Time stopped.

Literally, for a fraction of a microsecond, the sheer kinetic shockwave of the impact sent a tremor not just through Goku's dense Saiyan muscles, but deep into the very core of his spiritual being.

In that frozen instant, the lock on his soul shattered.

It wasn't a possession. There was no foreign voice in his head, no alien consciousness trying to take the wheel. It was just him. Goku. But suddenly, the room of his mind expanded into a boundless, infinite cathedral. He remembered being a consciousness so ancient, so unfathomably vast and suffocated by its own limitless power, that it had deliberately fractured itself into fragments just to experience the thrill of a challenge again.

He remembered galaxies being born and dying. He felt the distant echoes of divine ki, destruction energy, and the martial rhythms of a multiverse he once oversaw.

And then, just as quickly, the cosmic weight receded, filtering perfectly into the innocent, cheerful brain of the boy from Mount Paozu. He was the entity, and the entity was Goku. There was no division.

Wow, Goku thought, suspended in mid-air from the bumper's impact. My head feels totally funny! Like I just woke up from a really, really long nap.

He felt an ocean of power roaring inside his chest - a blinding, golden storm of absolute supremacy. But as his instinct reached for it, his physical body violently protested. His bones ached; his veins throbbed. He instantly understood the reality of his situation: his soul was an ocean, but his current biological Saiyan body was merely a teacup. If he tried to pour all that power out right now, his physical form would shatter into a million pieces.

Okay, Goku thought with a mental giggle. I guess I gotta let my body grow up first. That's fine! Fighting is more fun when it's hard anyway!

Gravity resumed. Goku hit the dirt, skidding a few feet.

Inside the car, Bulma gripped the steering wheel, her heart pounding out of her chest. "Oh no... I hit a kid! I'm a murderer!"

She scrambled out of the driver's seat, pulling a capsule gun from her holster just in case, her knees shaking. But the smoke cleared, and her jaw dropped.

Goku was standing up, dusting off his blue gi. He didn't have a single scratch on him. He tilted his head, looking at the blue car and then at Bulma. Because of his newly integrated soul, he felt the mechanical nature of the car, but his childlike mind still processed the world exactly as it had five minutes ago.

"Hey!" Goku shouted, pulling out his Power Pole. "You're a metal monster! Are you trying to steal my fish?"

"M-monster?!" Bulma shrieked, her fear instantly replaced by indignation. "I'm a human! And this is a car, you uncultured little brat!"

Goku blinked, lowering his pole slightly. "A car? Is that a type of monster? And what's a human? You look like a goblin to me!"

"I'm a girl, you idiot!"

Goku walked closer, completely unbothered by the gun in her hand. He poked her leg with curiosity. "A girl? Grandpa told me to be nice to girls. But you attacked me with your... car!"

"You jumped into the middle of the road!" Bulma yelled, aiming her gun. "Stay back! I'm warning you!"

She pulled the trigger. Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three bullets struck Goku squarely in the forehead. To canon Goku, this would have hurt, leaving red welts and stinging intensely. But the awakened Goku instinctively - and passively - hardened his ki to exactly the limit his young body could tolerate.

The bullets flattened against his skin like they had hit solid titanium, dropping harmlessly into the dirt.

Goku rubbed his forehead. "Hey! That felt like a mosquito bite! What kind of magic was that?"

Bulma collapsed to her knees, terrified. "You... you're not human! What are you?!"

"I'm Goku!" he beamed, offering his signature, innocent grin. He effortlessly reached down, grabbed the front bumper of the heavy Renault 5 Turbo with one hand, and lifted the entire vehicle above his head just to see how heavy it was. It felt light. Too light. I definitely need to find heavier things to train with, he noted internally. He gently set the car back down.

Bulma, realizing she was dealing with a monster of a child, quickly changed her tactics. She put on a sweet, disarming smile. "Okay, Goku! You're very strong. My name is Bulma. Have you, by any chance, seen a glowing orange ball around here?"

Goku's ears perked up. "A glowing ball? You mean my Grandpa?"

Ten minutes later, inside Goku's house, Bulma was holding up two glowing spheres - the two-star and five-star Dragon Balls - while Goku held his four-star ball.

"See?" Bulma explained, her eyes gleaming with ambition. "There are seven of these Dragon Balls. When you gather them all together, a magical dragon appears and grants you any wish you want!"

As Goku stared at the glowing orbs, a ripple of ancient knowledge echoed in the back of his mind. Dragon Balls... Zalama... The Namekians... The shattered realms. The immense scope of the universe - gods of destruction, angels, demon realms, and cosmic dragons - hummed like a quiet song in his soul. He didn't know the exact names or the specific histories yet, as his child brain couldn't articulate them, but he felt their presence in the cosmos. He felt the threads of time that tied everything together, leading far into a distant, challenging future.

"A dragon, huh?" Goku grinned, his tail swishing excitedly. "That sounds super fun! I bet the dragon is really strong! Can I fight it?"

"No, you can't fight the wish-granting dragon, you weirdo!" Bulma sighed, exasperated. She looked at the strong, bizarre boy and an idea formed. "Listen, Goku. The world is huge. There are cities, oceans, and tons of strong guys out there. Why don't you come with me? You can protect me, and you'll get to see the whole world!"

Goku looked at his Grandpa's four-star ball. He felt the vastness of the universe calling to him. He knew, deep in his awakened soul, that there were fighters out there who could shake the stars. Beings who could push him to his absolute limits. But right now, he was just a kid, and this was step one.

"Okay!" Goku cheered, strapping his Power Pole to his back. "Let's go find the rest of those balls! But if we run into any strong guys, I get to fight them!"

"Deal," Bulma said, smirking.

As they walked out into the bright sunlight, Goku threw his arms behind his head, matching Bulma's pace. He was the most powerful entity in existence, trapped in an eleven-year-old body, setting off on a dirt path in a tiny, quiet corner of the universe.

And for the first time in an eternity, he was truly excited to see what would happen next.
