So. It was the day that you had dreaded. The day you had dreamed of. The Springtime Familiar Summoning. Today was the day. You would, for the first time ever, cast a successful spell. You hoped.
You had done all the research, all the reading... You've practiced the spell until it become not an incantation, but a mantra.. For your teachers had made it clear, gently, but in no uncertain terms that this was your last chance to prove yourself. Prove yourself a true noble, not a failure.. Prove yourself worth the family name, worth Cattleya's regard.. worth your mothers respect.
And so you waited. Patiently. Well, mostly patiently. It's not your fault Germanians are so annoying, right? Still, there is one thing for sure.. Your Familiar would blow her stupid Salamander out of the water.
..And then.. it was time. And so you incanted. And so you cast.. Nothing. Silence. Not even an explosion.. Once more you try, for the same result. The mocking of your peers grows. You beg the teacher for one last try..
You will succeed this time!..
