My father's grave isn't even there.

They're pretty good but their bread pudding is shit, or it was last time I was there. They didn't properly cook the sauce so the whole thing was like eating a whiskey soaked muffin essentially. I got a buzz off of it.

Speaking of fine dining, I am once again stopped due to my diabetic bladder and am taking this time to have one of the most broke ass "meals" you can eat without dumpster diving for it: a pack of instant ramen broken up dry with the flavor pack sprinkled on to give it some flavor.

Just woke up, sleeping in this car gives me such a crick in my neck.

Anyway it looks like 135 miles, no idea what that is in metric. However, Mr "McHorney" is an absolute legend and sent me some gas money so that and the bag of pretzels I bought with a dollar I literally dig out from the seat cushions and I think I'll make it.

Hopefully he'll stop ghosting me now. Either way I'm not going back to Pensacola.

EDIT: traffic jam on the goddamn interstate so I'm off the highway waiting til it clears some so as to not waste gas

I considered looking in gas station ashtrays for a butt, I honestly don't have the energy for that.

Jesus, I've gone all out now. I rooted through literal garbage for cigarette butts. Found 'em too. I'm just glad nothing looked edible in there. I'm nauseous regardless.
Cleaned my hands with rubbing alcohol from my first aid kit.

Edit; worst part? I really enjoyed the two to three drags I got from each butt. It feels shameful in a way I had thought was burnt out of me.

You know what I want? A small garden where I can grow some potatoes, onions, and garlic. Also a large chungus of a crockpot that I can experiment with making Forever Soup in.

That's mostly it.

Essentially? You make a big pot of soup or stew and rather than just serving it all up you eat some and keep adding more ingredients and broth and basically keep the whole thing going indefinitely.

You can add all sorts of things over time. Even change out the pot or container it cooks in.
There was allegedly a pot of perpetual soup in France that had been started in the 15th century and kept going, switching up to new soup pots over time until wartime shortages killed it during WWII.

The soup/stew will pick up all kinds of flavor over time as various ingredients are added to it.

It just sounds… like a fulfilling pursuit.

Vegetables can go either way but put in raw you'd want to let the soup simmer for awhile. I'd say if you want to throw in raw vegetables you'd be better off adding them before going to bed.

The soup needs to be kept around 200 degrees Fahrenheit minimum at all times to remain safe to eat. This also makes it easy to get new ingredients cooking.

For meat? I'd generally say seasoning and browning it before adding it would be the best policy.
However a thought to keep in mind is that boiling meat from raw will make the flavor of the meat suffuse the entire soup, so if you've got something particularly flavorful even before seasoning just cutting it up raw and throwing it in could have great results. Just make sure to let it cook for at least a few hours after throwing raw meat in.
