Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

For example, the city of Rolling Green's was expanding its farmlands by a shit ton. The problem? They were reaching the limit of easily accessible suitable farmland in the valley the city was located in. Other areas are difficult to access. The companies there were thinking about vertical farming, but the power draw for such facilities is quite high. Therefore, I just threw money at them for the construction of some new solar farms and a generator. Should keep up for a decent while, if nothing else.

Why solar? As a power source, it's nothing but gimmicky garbage, and building solar farms on the surface will only compound the issue of land shortage around the area. Even at 100% efficiency (which is impossible, because entropy is a thing) solar will never be reliable or productive enough to use as a serious source of power. The closest thing to an exception to that rule is to build massive orbital solar farms that can be of arbitrary size and can stay perpetually in sunlight with the right orbital track, all the while wirelessly transmitting power to the surface. But the issue with those is that it's still wildly inefficient in terms of resources used, not to mention being hideously vulnerable to even a weak pirate/rebel attack knocking them out. Star Wars has access to the tech to build cheap, functional fusion reactors, which are a million times more stable, efficient and powerful than solar. It's literally better in every possible way.

Glad to see this updated, but I also understand needing to lock in for your finals.

As for a ship, I think a Larger ship. Perhaps a heavily modified Lucrehulk?

One that allows him to carry a decent compliment of droid fighters, and modified-to-droid-control larger ships.

I mean, droid TIEs existed, so droid Xwings could be possible, along with many other ideas. Droid-Yt-300? The options are really limitless here.

I push at the droid option for a few reasons.

1st, it helps limit our guy needing even more crew. He wants to disappear, so the crew not has to be veted, but using droids lowers the chance of crew loss, thus not needing to vet people over and over.

Next, Lucrehulks were huge. He not only could carry a large amount of carge, he could even have specialized containment for unique or rare goods.

A Lucrehulk could also hold repair bays, someto not only help him, but also a service he could make profit off of.

Things like backup generators, hidden weapon emplacements, smugglers hidden storage, and more are all options.

Hell, he could 'fill in' the center area of the donut with even more hull. A sloping deck that rises up and covers the inner Sphere could provide so much more space for all sorts of fun or unique technologies or ideas.

If he gets ahold of one where the inner sphere was both a droid control core, and a factory (like the ones that landed on Genosis) he has immediate industrial capabilities right there. They would need to be retooled for more general work, but its an option.

Sep droid designs being remade for not only modern warfare, but also other options is also a possible profit maker for him.

Droidekas remade to be spacehull repair droids? Rolling around in shipyards, using tools instead of blasters?

B1 battle droids being basic farm/mine/etc labor?

The ideas are limitless.

All he really should need then is a trusted crew, like a certain scary lady, a terrifying spy/assistant, some RnD nerds, an angry red lady, and a forceCat/pillowthief/shipcat.

i get the feeling MC will design the best merchant ship/mobile shop the galaxy has seen , perhaps sale/business model etc. most likely has a espresso machine/mini bar or café to encourage sales lol (Ikea model)

planning to have it built as a personal project only to find out the yards are backlogged with orders due to how popular the design is and the guild inundated with request for the sale/business model data. lol

MC will create a mercantile boom for small-medium companies . and the minda stock exchange and finance sector reign's supreme .

Chapter 55
My thoughts.
Okay if he wants to travel. Create a giant cruise ship. Only build it like it is a q ship. With all that that implies. Something like a Lucrehulk the biggest version available or something bigger. A floating palace.
He can use the excuse he is creating trade lanes ans lines of communication with other governors. Allowing him to personally travel to the places he is interested in. With luxury and security.

Still, in the back of my head, that little dream of a ship and the open sky remained.

Freedom.
Yh this is a much better idea, getting a ship exploring the galaxy and making money.
Plus with a ship, easy to escape.

Now we need a ship for our guy. A light or medium freighter?

A YT-1300 light freighter or something original?

You will never get that dream that you have due to the sheer dint of competency you've shown.
Fast-forward to the Imp-NuRep peace talks, The sticking point is: Both sides choose him as leader due to his what they each see as his staunch Imperial-ness/egalitarian leadership.

Que: Las Mola of all breakdowns

Las(Sobbing in the corner): I just wanted to live fancy free
ForceCat: We get fancy treattreattreat now? (Gungan Pâté)

O-HSHC: "Both is good"

Las does plan on eventually exploring the galaxy as some sort of merchant/trader.
I for one do not expect he will ever escape the desk job.

No, he's too competent and well liked. The poor bastard won't be allowed to retire for decades at least.

I sighed, plopping my head in my hands. This fucking spy. I don't know what fucking blackmail or corporate secrets she was able to drag from the depths of RHE or, god forbid, KDY itself. And frankly speaking? I don't want to know.
What's funny is that from what we can see in the previous chapter, it wasn't really blackmail, just good intel.
She continued, seemingly unaware of my little internal freak out. "These factories contain specialized machines made for creating more complex internal parts for ships, which RHE will no longer need. This will allow us to reduce the amount of external shipping needed."
And with Las' domain having a lot of mineral resources already, his shipbuilding industry might be almost completely self contained to his little fiefdom. I wonder if R&D could design a small warship using only resources found directly on Minda and Edin?
Legends is the real problem here. Cause the Empire doesn't die, it just breaks into a million warlords vying for a useless throne. The Pentastar Alignment, and who knows how many other statelets and the like will emerge, desperate to cling onto useless power.

Don't they know the sheer weight of paperwork that such power produces!? Of course not, those fools would just delegate it all, or ignore it, and then be surprised when their populace rebels or the economy collapses!
To be fair, the New Republic is a bit guilty of this too. For instance I pretty sure the Corporate Sector Authority remains in power over 30,000 worlds for several decades after Endor. There is also the Hapes Consortium.
For example, the city of Rolling Green's was expanding its farmlands by a shit ton. The problem? They were reaching the limit of easily accessible suitable farmland in the valley the city was located in. Other areas are difficult to access. I wonder how many worlds rely on Ugea now for food exports? The rising quotas are probably forcing governors to focus more on resource extraction to the detriment of internal sustainability.

Sure other planets in the sector make food. However, I doubt the Agriworlds in this sector have a shipping capacity on the level of the Minda system.
There were other problems as well, of course. New mining installations need expansion to deal with the abundance of resources.
The best problem to have, especially in a galaxy wide resource shortage.
Reports about some weird resources on that jungle death world that I didnt want to touch with a ten foot pole.
My guess is those weird resources are going to attract the attention of the Special Weapons Programs causing Las to touch the jungle world with a smaller pole than he'd like.
This means more planning will be going into full arcs, characters will be expanded on to the best of my ability so they feel like characters instead of names that occasionally talk, and I'll try to both tie up loose plot holes and avoid creating any new ones.
My advice is let the characters do some of the writing for you. If their personality traits are established enough, they should have their opinions on what you are writing about. Give them an event and think on how they'd react based on how you already wrote about them.
Also, since this has been on my mind recently. Las does plan on eventually exploring the galaxy as some sort of merchant/trader. What ship should he do it in? Light freighter type beat, or a proper crew sorta thing?
Whatever ship it is, it should probably have a Corellian fried ice cream fryer installed.

If he DOES escape and gets a bigger ship, his intel sister will get wind of it and help cover things. Then his sisters will join him because the Empire is toast, and baby brother got a ship that big for the whole family to escape, OBVIOUSLY, he's a visionary like that. Oioro might join as well, she could use a vacation.

You will never leave that chair, Governor.
You will rise through the ranks.
Become Moff.
Then Grand Moff.
You. Will. Never. Leave!

Cute, nice cup.
And no, the bribe does not lessen your vacation time.
But still, very cute cup.

Ah, nice.
Acquisition is great.
What a bargain.
What a steal!

That was Hosnian Prime, different planet.
It's part of the stupid as hell rotating Capital deal they decided to do. They literally had elections on where to relocate the entire Capital.
It's truly incredible how Disney made the New Republic even more incompetent than they already were in the EU.

C-ROC Gozanti Cruiser. With a Class 2 Hyperdrive put in instead of class 3. It's very fast, with a need for a large enough crew to keep things interesting for the plot. And enough weapons to keep pirates at bay, especially if you keep more of the originals Gozaniti armament.
4 Retractable Quad laser cannons
1,200kph atmospheric speed
Crew of 12, but only 1 at minimum
4k metric tons of cargo space.

Suffering from a lack of creativity and ability to write a competent villain? Just make the good-guys-but-specifically-not-the-hero-played-by-the-high-profile-actors-and-actresses suffer from actual brain damage to compensate.

Can't wait for a rampant R&D to make a Deathstar Equivelant and Las trying his best to cover it all up but it inevitably leaks to his enemies and they immediately back the fuck off

He has a Sith with him, bet they know some depo or research/factory world that he could waste money on, find useful ship Blueprints and Technical data on. Might even recover some old republic droid kits to reverse engineer for his own production.

The solar energy collectors could just be a whole bunch of extra panels put on top of existing tall buildings and having some extra panels here and there like on the side of highways. Also could put in a few panels here and there in public parks around the edges. Those panels might not be able to power everything, but it should cut down on the amount of dedicated fusion generator power needed. The MC could also fund putting extra wind energy collectors on tall, government or apartment buildings. Effectively this would allow for a more decentralized power grid, thus if/when the Rebellion/Pirates/Imperial Warlords damage the large main generators/fusion reactors or cut the large energy transmission lines, then more of the buildings/people would still have some power. Funding more small scale electrical self-consumption systems should keep the local citizens happier should *something* happen to the main power grid. Also this would effectively "waste" money, while keeping the people happier and less likely to string the MC up when the Empire falls.

TftC!

While I do like the gozanti, I prefer the military one
It's a bit blockier and that fits better with a freighter I think
The sleekier one seems more like a higher but not highest class passenger ship
