Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

Awesome chapter.
"So, my job here is to turn Minda into a decent system within two years or be carted off to the Infantry frontlines to die in some pacification campaign. I don't want that, obviously, so I'm working hard to make the Minda system worthwhile. The problem with all that is that if I improve too many things, or the wrong things, or make too much noise and draw a lot of attention, then I'm going to get the attention of people higher up. I don't want that kind of attention, because it means more work, more danger, all while I just want to spend my time working to improve the system. Being a part of the Imperial bureaucracy, especially at this level, is a cutthroat game of politics more than it is about actually doing your job. I have absolutely zero interest in being a part of that game. I just want to do my job and avoid my death. So no, I don't want the credit. It would bring undue attention to me. Just let one of your bosses take the credit or something, I don't care. So long as it doesn't come crashing down on me it won't matter."
Quick, please tell me someone recorded this and then send it to Vader, Ardus Kaine and Thrawn!!!

Frankly speaking, Darna was worried. While all these projects were useful and potentially even vital, the governor was spending the Capitols savings quickly, and would be left with little currency in case of emergency. She could only hope that

These were all sent ahead to the governor in a compact form, but it was the final message that shocked her, sending the rubber ball flying right into her lekku, but she ignored the pain in favor of the message. It was on her datapad, what seemed like junk mail. But, with her past experience, she knew it was code. Rebel code used by the cell she had run with.
Is this cut off? I feel like it's missing a few parts.

As I witnessed the shock on the faces of both her and the Commander, I sighed. "Ok, just because you don't get it doesn't mean I don't."

Ahh... see, this is the type of statements that get the MC mistaken as some kind of secret genius mastermind. Something like:

MC: "Yeah, so that's what I'm doing, because I really, really, really don't want to die."

Everyone Else: "What?! What kind of plot is he planning? How has he created so many innovations? Has he been faking being an idiot to go unnoticed? Has he been a secret genius mastermind this whole time?!"

Also the MC: "Who's such a sweet Muggywuffypoo~~"

Mugwuffin: *happy purring*

I fix her with a stare. "Now, Zyx. What. Do. You. Want."

"I can't just be visiting my little brother?"

"No."

For a second I think I see a flash of legitimate hurt flash across her face before she schools herself. "Well it's the truth. I had a great deal of leave, and decided to burn some to come and visit."

"I don't believe you."

Between this and overall chill reception. I think he's just brought unwanted attention from his family.

My take on these is that once word gets out his family via spy sister, questions and thoughts will be quick to pop up.

Probably along the lines of:
- Wow, he's matured quick. Really quick
- Maybe we were too harsh on him?
- Does he have a secret backer?

Mugwuffin was strangely easy to train.
This is what I thought when she first showed up.

Admiral Thrawn would probably approve of the MC's lack of lust for power and willingness to just /get to work quietly/. Heck Thrawn might decide to have a Fleet construction yard for Advanced TIE prototypes (TIE Advanced X1, TIE Defenders, etc) and/or small Fleet ship repair/refit/construction yards meant for his ships. Maybe he'll even have some shipyards rated for Victory class star destroyers and smaller built/moved to Minda.

TftC!

Yeahbsolutely.

There ain't no way his Sister doesn't tattle on his ass. He doesn't know it yet, but he's accelerated Mother Mola's timeline.

Hell, Spooky might tell Ace and Cappy too! It'll be a big, happy family reunion~!

Yea, funny thing about the way imperials work, everything above a certain level is more about who you are and who you know and who owes you favours (or who you owe favours to) and how much money you have and which sources of money you control that matters more than actually doing your job...

And one can reasonably assume that the data pad market among the imperials is most likely a monopoly since militaristic goverments like standardizing and dont like having many different variables in their workloads. Kind of like how the us military beurocracy has a standard pen that is issued, but in star wars it's probably in the form of data pads and data chips given to officers.

And Las is clearly smart enough to know that he shouldn't get in the way of some corpo whom is benefitting immensely from the empire and has been making bank with it for almost 2 decades at least ( and several orders of magnitude worse if they were the standard data pad providers to the Republic beurocracy before that)

To be fair, it's pretty standard cliche for the evil mad scientist / mob boss to have a cute furry companion to slowly pet as they monologue thier plans to the rest of the cast / audience. So Las is already most of the way there, just need some spunky hero to pop in to foil his plans, or to actually have a plan in the first place. He actually doesn't need one since he already controls the/his world.

Thanks for the star wars version of Sim City. It's pretty fun and uplifting just seeing progress over long term narratives helped by future tech and an optimistic attitude to hands free governance.

It would be hilarious if he fixed the issues with defender and got tasked with mass producing them.(The big issues are the strut placement as their alignment isn't the same as any other tie so a whole new housing structure would need to be built to accommodate each one, and the removal of the hyperdrive)

Also can we get an image of Minda? Cause depending on how it looks we could make a corporate/military retreat so that members of the Imperial navy/army could have a vacation/meeting spot without it being gaudy or over the top, he'll the jungle/death world could be marketed as a hunting retreat.(Tarkin would love that)

As we exited my office, I stopped by Darna's desk, handing her the paper. She simply affirms with a nod. As I do this, a quick hand motion has Mugwuffin curling herself around Zyx's leg, keeping her attention away from my actions. Just to ensure she didn't look too closely at the document I was passing over.

On a side note, Mugwuffin was strangely easy to train.

Mugwuffin, huh?

Smart critter. A little too smart, I think.

We've found the rebel spy!

To be fair, his family is politically aligned with the Tarkins. Their patriarch's response to successful Imperials generally goes like:

Tarkin: "Wow that is a really successful project."

Inventor and/or Imperial Bureaucrat: "Why thanks for the compli-" BLAM!

Tarkin: "My successful project."

It stands for Military Intelligence. I chose that for it's acronym because II just looks like a 2 in roman numerals.

I think traditionally, at least in legends, it would be ISB. Imperial Security Bureau.

But that was more focused as a military police, and investigative force. More Gestapo than Abewer.

We have to hope she doesn't work for Daala.
Daala was busy in the Maw, and is still a captain if I remember correctly (being Tarkins mistress means she does have career opportunities though), you're likely meaning Yvanne Isard - head of the ISB/Imperial Intelligence.

So, Tarkin groupie mom has 4 kids but no one knows their daddy...suspicious.

Railgun ammo take volume and mass on ships.
Also Consortium of Zan are the only ones using mass drivers on capital ships outside of old mandalorian designs. So it's better not to have any catnip-info around.
