Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

It was why I agreed when he said that I should do another public appearance. Said if I stay involved with the populace, it makes me seem more approachable. Just last week, he had
That's an incomplete paragraph there.

Editing in reaction:
The audience had a live action on Las Mola going from an in interview to being an absolute badass with no breaks then immediately straight to work without panicking. And he's worried about being cooked because of the deaths because of rebels?

We have a real Ciaphas Cain right here folks! Hero of the Empire Las Mola!

Myr'thos controlled their reaction. They had no wish to instruct some plebian, but they were bored. Their For Glory account was temporarily banned at the moment because apparently calling a Mon Cala seafood was 'against TOS'. Fools.

Lmao of course the Sith would be a toxic gamer bro

I want to look to the future, let's assume that the rebellion happens, let's assume that the new republic would take control of the galaxy and order the arrest and trial of all planetary governors and high ranking people. The fun part comes in that nobody on those planets would agree to convict him or anyone for working for him, especially with these attacks. Hell, I am willing to bet that a petition would be started to vote him as "Governor for Life" and would win with 90% votes.

Because this, this is the kind of action that solidifies the loyalty of those planets to the level that Padme had on Naboo.

How this live broadcast looked from the other side gotta be crazy. The governor acting goofy and patriotic only to lock the fuck in.

He shoots a Droid, dodges shots by Inches, CATCH a grenade and throws it back, shoot into a random corner and HITS A COMMANDO DROID, and makes a call checking if everyone else is alright.

GOATED IMPERIAL LEADER. Just aura farming while hiding a panic attack
Not to even mention how it would look that after wiping out a large part of the attackers with their own thermal detonator he pets his mugwuffin to calm it down before no scopping a commando droid.

Truly this man is a Profesional with nerves of steel and charisma none can match

Bro, bro, bro...

These rebels are not making a good case for the wider Rebellion or even other Imperial planets that think of defecting or supporting the Rebellion.

What potential Imperial turncoats would see Edin and Minda, two of the most prime examples of the Empire working as intended, and then see the rebels bombed them and attempted a decapitation strike on them, and decide to not turn to the Rebellion?

They have handed the Imperials a propaganda win so fucking big it has effectively crippled the Rebellion in Minda and Edin.

All of the civilians in these places will never align with the Rebels. I don't want to bring up real world events into this, but this is literally 9/11. Like, that's the only event that I can think of that is analogous to the attack in this chapter.

Another problem is this rebel terrorists are using CIS droid which is the most stupidest choice because entire galaxy still remember about terror CIS droid bring to galaxy.

It would be less damaging to rebel reputation if they use regular troop but now they basically shows rebel are new CIS, which empire propaganda department will have a field day about it.

the alliance is going to die in the crib because of this. in-fighting and split offs, due to conflicting demands. it's just going to leave the rebel groups isolated and easy pickings for the empire. additionally, Las is now on Everyone's radar, not just ISB, Rebel Intel, and the odd nerd anymore.

he is now a household name because of the attack on him, and his sector. any potential of flying under the radar of imperial highcom is gone, everyone from the run of the mill grunt to the commander of flagships will have heard about him somehow in a month. radical "rebel" groups are going to rally behind the idea of killing him, simply because he survived the first time.

additionally, he's basically became a beacon to force brand fuckery, simply because he survived the latest bullshit. as we all know the force likes to fuck with potentially important people.

The best part is that even 'on-the-fence' current members might just see the Rebellion going out of their way to destabilize the 'Ideal Imperial World', and start wondering if any of those 'imperial atrocities' that got them to defect were possibly actually Rebels manufacturing a reason to join them. Sure was convenient that the Rebellion was right there to help you after, wasn't it?

I mean, it absolutely was the Empire doing all the warcrimes, but still. :V

Good chapter, just one thing...

and my first time trying it since I read about it in a phycology textbook,
Textbooks about algae do not often contain public speaking lessons (at least in our time, maybe things were different a long time ago).
Maybe change it to psychology instead, makes it more approachable by the modern audience. :V

Considering that Thrawn seems to be aiming to make Minda and Edin a part of his power base they first will need to actually win here. Thrawn has his blindspots which bring him down in old books but Las covers them handily and I'm not sure New Republic would be able to muster the forces needed to deal with that combination. At least not for the next 2-3 decades while they are trying to to put out all the fires and deal with multiple Imperial remnants. The fact that Minda has an active R&D department and now also has a shipyard makes it a very tough nut to crack.

Aliance won't die in whole galaxy because of a work of a single cell on backwater if rissing sector. Sure localy the well is poisoned and midna and neighbours is unlikely to join New Republic, but Emperor will still die, Death Star 2 will still blow up, Empire will fall.

Luke having our tech could maybe make him able to save life of his dad but original trilogy will probably stay mostly intact

Yeah, spin the PR as rebelión fucking with Emperials that is why is not working the Empire and everything Bad on the Rebels. Even the atrocitoes was just fals flag from the Rebels or just plain Imperials just done with the Rebels and traying to get rid of them no Master the cost

"I saw an opening." she replied, eyes studying them as she circled, angling her right side to protect her injured shoulder.

"You saw a ruse. Battle is as much a game of the mind as one of the body."

Kaela gave a light nod. "Thank you for the instruction."
So Grant is an Imperial ground commander who woodcrafts in her spare time and is being trained by an ancient Sith in combat. She somehow keeps getting more terrifying. Other commanders may get trained in the New Ways, Grant is trained in the Old Ways.
Gary, on the other hand, is slower on the workload, but more than competent enough. He's also been really good at PR, helping coordinate with the PR department to keep the propaganda lowkey but effective.
The PR person, the most feared individual for the powerful.
"As for population and immigration, we are currently working on that. The Rothana yards, as a consequence of them having been secret for most of the company's existence, are heavily automated. Still, at least another 10,000 workers will be needed if not more. Right now, we are working on building more housing and expanding cities planetside. In the future, residential space stations might be purchased and shipped, but that is speculative at best."
Best part is this probably only counts the factory jobs. There is also the knock on jobs like services, raw resources, and the like.
"In terms of effectiveness, I ask questions. There are many aspects of this job that are not my area of expertise. While I study when I can, at the end of the day if I want to help the economy, I ask an economist. If I want to help the ecosystem, I ask an ecologist. No person is an island, and to govern as if I was one would be folly."
Delegation, the superpower of leaders. Shame a lot of governors get a bit too control happy.
Before Fad can continue on to the next question, something about security concerns, an explosion rings out.

As dust, ash and screams start to emanate from all around me, I hit the deck, pistol in my hands as quickly as I can manage. Behind the cameras and away from the facade of an office used to conduct the interview, I can see figures moving through the smoke, blasters firing as they contest with the Stormtroopers outside.
Well that is one way to get the Rebellion noticed. Then again not all exposure is good exposure. Attacking a popular talk show is not going to be a good look.
Most take cover while, out of the smoke, droids step out. Basic B1 battle droids painted a deep, blood red with a black five fingered handprint on their heads.
Oh goody, everyone in the Outer Rim loves battle droids. Unleashing unfeeling killing machines on a room full of civilians will not bring up any bad memories.
Through all of this, Myr'thos is dodging and weaving between blaster bolts, newly made vibroblade cutting through the droids like a hot knife through butter. On occasion, they would raise their arm and fire out a stream of blaster fire from the integrated weapon on their wrist. A holdout weapon that they had complained was unfit for a Sith of their caliber. I had told them they needed a ranged option.
People watching who don't know: "Wow that is a really skilled bodyguard Las has."

Seventh Brother: "Wait that fighting style looks familiar, oh BY THE FORCE!"
Mugwuffin, having been kept backstage, finally found her way to me, curling up next to me. As I petted her, more for my own sense of calm, I felt the bond thrum.

Protectshieldhiderun

I got the gist of things. She was making sure that the droids just barely missed me or the other troopers. Not crushing them, just messing with their aim a little.
Not so fun when the Force plot armor is on the Imperial side eh Rebels?
"Is that a blaster mark on the wall behind you?"

"Yes sir." she responded. "Some assassin droids attempted to kill me."

"...Are you okay?"

Her eyes seem a tad confused for a second before she responds.
Grant still doesn't know how to deal with a boss that actually cares about their subordinates.
A bombing of MegaBuilding C's construction site
Before those ex-slaves were pro-Empire for saving them. Now they are fervently anti-Rebel for trying to blow up their collective house.
an attempted suicide run into the barracks with a ship,
Good news guys I found their ship! Although that is probably not their primary vehicle unless they gave up any hope of escape.
and even mediating with some of the locals, which I wasn't aware of until like five months ago.

They're called the Tula, are all nomadic, have really cool landshark looking mounts, and play some sick ass instrumental beats for their rituals. They got a whole section of the museum for them, and a bunch of land rights. Even gave me a handcrafted ceremonial bone dagger as a gift. It's sick as hell.
Normally the Tula would be a source of dissent and attrition for an Imperial garrison. Thankfully Las is not randomly deciding to torture and try to wipe out the native hinterlands group for the crime of not being Imperial.
"Currently? Casualty numbers are unclear, but the suicide ship was shot down and the droid attacks were repelled well. We estimate no more than 5 deaths right now."
5 dead for a multi-pronged attack including suicide troops and killer robots? That is an amazing success. Las actually benefited from the Scarred Hand not being more indiscriminate and gunning for Imperial leaders.
Shit. That's still bad. Sure, it could be worse, far worse, but I remember that quote. 'One death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.' Yeah, it's Stalin, and yeah, it was probably an excuse to be generally an assholish leader, but it rings true through the identifiable victim effect. If a thousand people had died, people would rally, sure. But now that only a few died?

People would have names to rally around.
Las completely unaware that he is one of the names people are going to rally around as the hero of the hour.
The social upheaval this could lead to, not to mention the potential imperial crackdown that could follow, has the potential to ruin me.
Just make sure your sister doesn't start bombing the city with her Star destroyer in a rage. Or your other sister starts doing strafing runs on civilian properties where Rebels may be hiding. Better yet, just try to stop mass Stormtroopers deployments at all.

A Commando Droid. A fucking COMMANDO DROID!
What fresh hell is this, that... B1s I can see. But how in the fresh hell is are Commandos active. Those things were near top of the "get rid right the fuck now" list. Fuckers learned in ways droids only do if they don't get memory wipes from what I recall.

Best thing he could do imo, spin this around:

"So you've resorted to terrorism, whoever wishes to claim this. You've resorted to terrorism because you deemed us to be a threat? I wonder, is it because our prosperity? Our peace in this part of the system offends you? Do you think what your doing is right?

You know you are, it matters not what I say when you are a bunch of cowards, not wanting to face me and used a bunch of CIS droids. You feel threaten, and yet too cowardly to face me.

I won't deny its effectiveness. But, seeing the evidence of me being yet to be killed, it clearly failed.

So I will say this... You fear and hate the Empire so much, you are willing to disrupt the peace of the people. Harming the innocent souls in the way... How Imperial of you..."

Or something like that. Taunt them in a way it drives them in a fury of blindness that somehow turns the tables for MC that it would be fucking awesome.

I love grant, and I love how strong and loyal she is!

I also find it funny that for all the mc feels unqualified and scared, he's a genuinely good fighter, and probably one of the best governors in the galaxy, and this only makes it more clear to everyone around him. If he didn't have to govern he probably could have the time to become an extremely competent fighter, on par with the fetts or grant lol.
