Her Eternal Excellency (Raiden Ei reborn as Argella Durrandon)

"How have you not noticed this up until now? I did not know you were half deaf, half blind, and certainly empty in the head."
Yeah, saying something so obvious when it already happen some time ago generally points you as not knowing the news at best or completely and wilfully ignorant at worse.

Which ironically happens a lot. Sadly.

Storm Kingdom

Storm's End

9 BAC

Argilac watched as Garrin entered his solar, pale and twitching, with sweat gathered at his brow. Dismissing the Maester, he poured a cup of wine for the man. Garrin had to take it with both hands since he was shaking like a leaf in a storm.

Argilac had an inkling what happened.

"Argella, I mean Princess Argella." The future good-brother of the Storm King started his speech, jittery as he stopped to correct himself.

"My King, she, your daughter, is not normal." Lord of Nightsong realized his mistake; however, King Argilac took no problem with it.

"No shite Garrin, she is a genius."

"No, not that. She did something to me; I felt like I was dying. I don't know how to explain it." Garrin drained his cup and then took the pitcher without permission, hoping the sweet wine would stop his shaking.

"Ah, that." Argilac leaned back, choosing to ignore his future good-brother's actions, as he understood what the man was going through.

"You know it?" Garrin put the now empty pitcher down, wiping his mouth.

"Yes, I felt her fury as well."

"Is she a sorcerer? or something else? The lack of storms and the trees, it must be all her work." Garrin was too busy to wonder why there were no storms, but now, it all made sense to him. Nobles and smallfolk thought it was the Seven showing their favor to Princess Argella, while in truth, it was the girl herself responsible for it.

"Argella said she wasn't a sorcerer." Argilac was both curious about the truth and dreaded hearing it, so the Storm King did the only thing that made sense to him and didn't ask.

"And you believed her?" Garrin's disbelief was evident, wondering what in the name of the Seven his king was thinking.

"Why would someone who can bring a person to their knees without even lifting a finger bother to lie? What if she is a sorcerer? Am I to kill my own daughter? No, no matter what she is, Argella is my daughter, and you will keep your thoughts to yourself." Argilac wasn't going to let anyone tarnish the reputation of his daughter, even if that person was the brother of his future wife.

"So, what did you say to her?" Argella had scared him as a warning when he confronted her for the disrespect she had displayed and tried to curtail her freedoms. So Garrin must have done something special to have felt Argella's fury.

"I insisted that she sell the cure to the Free Cities, regardless of their stance against slavery." Garrin still did not change his opinion, but he wasn't going to say anything to the Princess about it ever again.

"Just that? Because I know my daughter well enough, and Argella wouldn't get angry over you being insistent."

"I may have called her childish." He admitted, grimacing at the way Argilac narrowed his eyes. The aging Storm King's fury may not have been able to match his daughter's, but it still was a terrible thing to face.

"Seeing as my daughter already dealt with your punishment, I won't do anything further, but Garrin, if it happens again, me breaking the betrothal with your sister will be the last of your problems." Argilac warned, leaning forward to glare at Garrin.

It was one thing to save his life; it was another thing to insult his daughter, and Argilac wouldn't stand for it, no matter the person.

"Don't worry, my King, I don't think I can talk back to your daughter again."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oldtown

The Citadel

The Conclave of the Maesters had gathered to discuss the recent events in the Seven Kingdoms, specifically, the Storm Kingdom. Princess Argella's inventions were impressive, and though the Citadel had a hard time acquiring any knowledge on the inner workings of the machines, their effectiveness had proven to be unquestionable.

Greyscale outbreak had caught the entire continent by surprise, and the Citadel had scrambled to find a solution, only for it to become a moot point due to Princess Argella.

"Princess Argella's discovery of a cure for Greyscale was unexpected." Archmaester Kalım , the most senior healer with several silver links, was fascinated by the news, less so when the Maester they had sent over to test the cure reported that the leaves had no effect on other maladies. Still, that such a disease had been cured was definitely worthy of earning a place in history books.

"If I remember correctly, weirwood leaves have been tried as a cure before, yet they had no effect. The purple trees are more than just a change in color." Archmaester Conley was the historian of the Conclave and was getting old enough to be replaced soon. Many substances had been tested, and while the ones with caustic properties showed effectiveness, there was no true cure for Greyscale until now.

"Rumors claim it was Princess Argella who created the mutant trees with magic." Lakon's Valyrian Steel links glinted in the light, his thoughtful frown making the wrinkles on his face become more apparent. After the Doom of Valyria, the Citadel considered magic to be dead, yet the events following Argella Durrandon's birth could not be explained any other way, bar divine interference.

"While impressive, the cure pales in comparison to her, what did they call it, ah yes, the Iron Works. Weeping Town produces more steel and wrought iron than Lannisport. And her paper-making machine has severely damaged the parchment sales of Oldtown." Yorick was the youngest of the Archmaesters in the Conclave, and had been brought to his current position due to his talent with his sums. By their estimates, if the current traction of the Storm Princess' success continued, the Storm Kingdom would be a very wealthy kingdom, rather than one of the poorest.

"What has the Maester of Storm's End had to say?" Archmaester Luden kept records of the Conclave, and rarely spoke, but this required everyone's voices in his opinion.

"Princess Argella explicitly forbade him from sending any of the manuscripts to us due to our refusal to give her the books she requested." Archmaester Gavel , responsible for the rookery and the one in charge of handling the most critical communications of the Citadel, shook his bald head, as Maester Larry seemed more afraid of Princess Argella than any reprisal from the Citadel. He was the one who wrote the refusal letter to the Princess years ago, and since the young royal sent no letters after that, it was obvious they would not be getting those manuscripts easily.

"Hmm, perhaps we could strike a bargain with her?" Seneschal of the Citadel, Tagon, finally spoke after listening to the arguments. The wealth gained by the Storm Kingdom due to Princess Argella's genius might be impressive; however, they were the Citadel and would not go begging for knowledge to a girl barely a sliver of their ages. They would try to see if a good bargain could be struck, but if not, then the matter would be closed.

"We have nothing of value to offer for her machines, save perhaps the Valyrian glass candles." Lakon knew it would never be accepted; however, his purpose was to see if the Storm Princess actually possessed magic, and bringing the glass candles near her was a sure way to check.

"Should we consider granting her access to our library in return for the manuscripts?"

"Considering will not be helpful, so perhaps we should send a letter to the Princess?"

The Conclave continued until sunset, as several more matters were brought forward.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Storm's End

Lords of the Storm Kingdom were as impatient as they were prone to solve their problems with violence.

The construction of an Iron Works in her grandfather's lands and the promise of Power Looms for Blackhaven had the remaining nobles were speeding up the infrastructure construction in their respective lands, all the while queries about what boon they would receive flowed like a flooding river.

Ei had other matters on her mind, specifically, plans for a grand library in the Storm Kingdom. First, a faster method of copying books was necessary, as she would convince her father to pass an edict that all books the foreign merchants had brought would be rented with coin for a few days, with the price depending on the value of the book.

Books would be copied and sent to the library she would be building near the Storm's End. Weeping Town would be the obvious choice due to the trade the town received, but with the Iron Works and the paper machine, it would be too much power in the hands of one lord.

So the library would be built near the Storm's End, and books from every settlement that traded with the Storm Kingdom would be gathered there, open to all citizens of the kingdom for learning, including with reading lessons sponsored by the royalty to increase the literacy rate.

After that, Ei would need to build a press, mass-press books, build more libraries, and eventually, public schools.

Which all required funding, meaning she had to continue her efforts to grow the economy.

For now, she was going to mass-produce ink and build a typewriter.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Princess, may I ask what this contraption does?" Maester Larry asked, inspecting the small device. It wasn't like the massive paper-making machine and had buttons with letters and punctuation marks.

Rather than explain, he watched as Princess Argella sat on the chair and began to press the buttons, and he watched with wonder as the arms inside the machine pressed letters into the paper with clicks, while the piece of paper slid to the left after each letter.

When it was at the end, the Princess just pushed the top of the machine to the back, which raised the paper a bit higher to write on the second line.

She pulled down a small lever, releasing the paper from the machine, and handed it to Larry.

"This is a typewriter; I built it to increase the speed at which a person can write."

The letters were simple, uniform, and easy to read, and the writing was faster than what any literate man would have written at the same time.

With this, the Citadel could copy books in days, rather than weeks, and could be a great addition to their endeavors when it comes to gathering knowledge, but there was the small problem of Princess Argella being wroth with the Citadel.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

King's Solar

Typewriters were delicate and required a mastery of working with smaller parts, which not many artisans had, except jewelry makers, and making a typewriter wasn't exactly their field.

So, Ei had to make the small machine herself.

Ink, seeing as it was mostly used by the nobility, was not produced anywhere in the Storm Kingdom and was mainly purchased from other sources, mainly the Oldtown and the Free Cities.

Which was about to change, as she had commissioned the start of an ink workshop in the lands of House Morrigen of Crow's Nest, along with another paper machine and several jewelry workshops, as the first two would mostly be used for her own projects, and profit would be low.

All that was left was to convince her father on the matter of mandatorily acquiring and copying every book that entered the kingdom for a small fee as compensation.

"You want to take books from the merchants and visitors? Why?" Argilac might have been drunk, but he wasn't drunk enough to just pass an edict like that.

"I intend to copy the books and build a grand library to increase the prosperity of our kingdom."

"If you say so. Do as you wish." Argilac shrugged, pressing his seal on the letters, which would be sent to the relevant trade places, along with the typewriters and scribes.

He was sure Argella knew what she was doing.

"So, Beric, you were saying?" The Storm King resumed his conversation with the red-haired lord of Griffin's Roost.

"As I was saying, the woman was something to behold, for a smallfolk. Had really great tits, though the husband looked like a goat's arse."

Argella furrowed her brows just as she was leaving, wondering what the noble was talking about.

"What is he talking about?" Had the noble, who was married and had children, cheated on his wife and was gloating about it?

"He is talking about taking his right as a lord." Argilac shook his head. Really, what were pleasure houses for?

Argilac watched his daughter frown, and she walked back to his desk, standing before him, obviously displeased.

"I thought that disgusting and degrading tradition was not practiced anymore and was merely a leftover. Father, I insist that you ban this act immediately."

The right of the first night wasn't really practiced anymore in the Seven Kingdoms, at least, not as much as it used to be, but it still was prevalent. However, it was an old tradition, and the lords might not appreciate their freedoms being curtailed.

"Princess, they are just smallfolk; they are lucky that I even took interest in them." Beric Connington said, face flushed and drunk with wine, which revealed his inner thoughts, as otherwise only the foolish nobles would speak in that manner, lest they incite rebellion in their own lands.

Argella's face became hard as stone as all traces of emotion left, and Argilac knew something was about to happen.

His daughter grasped Lord Connington by the collar, and launched him at the wall.

No eleven years old girl should be able to throw a grown man like that, much less lift him.

Argella was no normal eleven-year-old girl, and she proved it once again as the Lord of Griffin's Roost slammed into the wall and fell down, knocked out.

The wall, which was sturdy enough to withstand the fury of the storms that battered it for thousands of years, had spider cracks across it. Argilac sobered up immediately, looking at his daughter with a gaping mouth.

"I won't insist again."

The following day, the right of the first night was banned across the kingdom on the pain of death.

In the next chapter:
Maester Larry fidgeted on his feet as Princess Argella frowned before she began to fold the paper in various angles. When it was finished, it looked like a triangle with a grip below, and she launched it to the fireplace at the other end of the room.

It sailed through the air, did a loop, and fell into the fireplace to be used as kindling.

That was one way to make your opinion known.

"I will relay your answer to the Citadel, Princess."

"That would be wonderful, Maester. Do I have any other correspondence?"

"None, Princess." Sole child of King Argilac had already handled the rest of her work today with speed and accuracy even her father couldn't match.

"What of the preparations for my trip to Parchments for the Iron Works and the coal mine?" Lord Lucan had requested the Princess' assistance because she had the most experience with the Iron Works as its creator.

"We should be ready to leave before midday, Princess."

"Excellent."

I am guessing either the Stormlands were conquered or managed to remain independent like Dorne

If somehow assimilated, I'd say that Orys would somehow get along well with Argilac as family, not gonna replace Duranndon with Baratheon but will still be remembered

Oh no, the Targaryen's aren't conquering Ei's territory, it's just the time before Aegon and his sister's start to conquer what will be left once the Electro Archon is done.

Storm Kingdom

Storm's End

9 BAC

Ei read the letter she had received from the Citadel and wasn't impressed at all.

"To Argella Durrandon, Crown Princess of the Storm Kingdom,

We have watched with trepidation as your machines created wonders for your kingdom, and as the sole center of knowledge in the entirety of the Seven Kingdoms, the Citadel seeks to add your valuable machines to our library, with the guarantee no similar machines or buildings will be made available to other kingdoms.

The Conclave merely seeks to ensure the knowledge itself is not lost to the ravages of time rather than any desire to break your control over the machines.

In return, we shall grant you access to Citadel's knowledge on any matter you may wish, bar higher mysteries for obvious reasons.

We eagerly await your answer.

Archmaester Gavel of the Conclave."

Parchments

Two Days Later

Since Parchments was close by, the journey was short, and as Princess Argella exited her carriage, Lord Lucan Penrose stepped up to escort her inside. His son and the Princess' uncle, Robert, were away on a task, and as such couldn't attend.

"Granddaughter, welcome to Parchments." He bowed his head, not only because Argella was a Princess, but because of her accomplishments.

That, and she was dangerous.

"Thank you, grandfather." Argella nodded back, eyes wandering around, taking in the sights of Parchments. The old castle was constructed with grey stone and was surrounded by two walls to offer additional protection. It had high battlements, and guards constantly patrolled both walls.

"How have you been since we last saw each other?" Lucan walked next to Argella, guiding her inside while her guards and attendants followed. His granddaughter did not bring many people with her, most likely for faster travel.

"Well enough, working as always, and you?" Word of Argella's latest invention, a machine that could help a man write much, much faster, had already spread like a fire, which, along with Argilac's edict on renting every book that entered the Storm Kingdom, made it clear to the keen-eyed that the Storm Princess was going to create a center of knowledge of her own, though not many saw any need for it due to the existence of the Citadel.

He wasn't even going to mention the miracle cure to Greyscale.

"Lordly matters keep me busy. You will be pleased to know we have already made great strides in the construction of the Iron Works." Due to the courtesy between the nobles, work wouldn't be mentioned to a newly arrived guest, but Lucan knew his granddaughter had no patience for false pretenses and preferred to get to the heart of the matter.

"As expected of you."

"There is something that has been bothering me." Argella slightly turned to Lucan, waiting for the old lord to continue. " The lack of storms. It has been many months now, and yet, not a single storm haunted the kingdom."

Lucan had no doubt it had something to do with Argella, and while he was curious, the storms might be a part of their lifestyle, but they also caused destruction, so he wasn't going to complain.

In fact, he was grateful about it.

"Is that not fortunate? The storms severely impeded my work in Weeping Town; I am sure you do not wish the same." There was a teasing edge to her voice, as if she was taking responsibility for the sudden disappearance of the storms and could bring them back just as easily.

"No, I don't."

Lord of Parchments used to believe that the stories of Duran and Elenei were nothing more than myths, though Argella's very existence challenged that.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ei met the wife and children of her uncle Robert, spent time "resting," and just waited until tomorrow to head to the work site.

Of course, her current predicament was unexpected.

During training with crossbows, one of the guards tripped the other, either as a joke or because of pettiness, expecting the shooter to miss.

The guard in question stumbled, stepped on his own feet, turned his back towards the ground to cushion the fall, and accidentally fired the crossbow towards Lucan Penrose.

Lord of Parchments would be dead before anyone could even understand what happened, but to everyone's shock, Princess Argella absentmindedly snatched the bolt from the air.

The Electro Archon wasn't really paying attention to her surroundings, too absorbed in her world thinking about the library, and only realized what she did after the whole training yard saw her.

Looking at the crossbow bolt in her hand and at her pale grandfather, who was becoming an ugly red now that he realized death had come really close.

Following the scolding, which included curses, profanities, and an order to hang the guard whose insipid jest almost led to the death of his liege lord, it drew enough attention for Ei to leave discreetly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lucan had invited his granddaughter to a private dinner in his solar. He didn't really have an appetite after almost dying, but food wasn't why he called Argella either.

"What are you?" He had asked if she was a sorcerer a couple of years back, and while Argella said no, she did not say what exactly she was.

"Curious all of a sudden?" Argella swallowed her pudding, leaning back on her chair.

"I almost died today, and I am old, older than many in fact, and I have no doubt the Stranger will come for me soon. I would rather not go without having that question answered." Lucan had lived longer than most other lords; hell, most of his generation was already dead, but today's accident made him realize his own mortality.

Argella hummed, her gaze piercing through his soul as she considered whether to tell him or not.

"And if the answer is not something you find to be good?" She asked, pointing the spoon she was using to inhale the desserts laid out before her at him.

"If it is something bad, we'll try to stop you. Should we fail, we'll be dead; if not, then you will either be locked up or dead yourself. However, your actions so far tell me you don't have any ill intentions, regardless of what you are." That or she was fooling them, and in that case, it might be too late before anyone figured it out.

Argella continued to eat, eyes closed in deep thought.

"I am Raiden Ei, God of Thunder and Eternity, and some other titles that don't really matter in this world. I died slaying the Heavenly Principles, the ruler of the heavens in my world, and woke up in this body at around two years old." Words weren't the only thing she offered, as before his eyes, Argella began to grow, and her dark gown with gold linings began to fade away.

In the place of the young girl stood a fully grown woman dressed in a foreign attire, and she summoned a ball of purple lightning in her hand.

Lucan laid down his almost clean utensils, leaning back on his seat to look at the ceiling, absorbing her words.

He began to laugh so loud, guards barged in worried something might have happened, before slowly closing the door back. His face slowly turned red, and then purple, and it was only the burning of his lungs that stopped Lucan from laughing anymore.

"A god? Of all the things I expected, that was not one." Lord of Parchments kept chuckling as his perplexity returned to what it normally was.

"I have so many questions."

"Ask."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lucan was numb. He felt nothing at all after listening to his granddaughter. Well, she wasn't that now, was she?

He didn't know which revelation stunned him more. That she was an actual, living god, or that she was from a different world, or that she was supposed to have died but simply found herself in the body of a mortal.

Did Argella Durrandon even exist? Had Raiden Ei taken over the body of his granddaughter, or did she not exist in the first place?

The god that was sitting before him had no answer to that question beyond she was reasonably sure there was no soul in that body, and for the sake of his sanity, Lucan was going to accept that.

"What do you plan to do now?" Argella, or Ei, being a god changed a lot of things; most importantly, it meant that the kingdom was safe.

"Same as always: see to the prosperity of the kingdom, take back the Riverlands sometime in the future, ensure the Ironborn threat is neutralized permanently, and just about that." Ei had ideas after that, but no solid plans yet.

Lucan blinked, realizing that the destruction of Ironborn wasn't just a possibility, but a certainty with her. "Let's hope I am around to see that happen."

"You may be old, but you are spry. As long as you are careful, you should live for a couple more years." Ei may not be the ruler of death, but Lucan Penrose didn't look like he was going to keel over and die any time soon.

"I'll live long enough just out of spite to see those Ironborn fucks die." Lord of Parchments would crawl out of his grave to see Argella send the Ironborn to hell if he had to.

"Language." She warned without even taking her eyes off the dessert.

"Really?" Lucan blinked, not expecting her to have an issue with the language he used of all the things.

"I may have given leeway to keep my identity a secret, as much as I did anyway, but I don't appreciate that kind of language in my presence. Now that you know the truth, be sure to compose yourself better." Had any of her loyal subjects from Teyvat seen a person use that kind of language in her presence, heads would roll.

"Yes, yes, your, wait, what should I call you now?" If a god didn't want him to swear, Lucan would mind his tongue to avoid her wrath.

"In formal settings, my subjects called me "Your Excellency," but seeing as I am neither the ruler of this kingdom nor your god, you may continue to call me Argella, or granddaughter. Either is fine." Argella—he was going to call her that—explained, finally finishing her dessert. She had eaten enough to kill a grown man and did not appear to feel any discomfort.

Perks of being a god, Lucan guessed.

"I don't know what a god is supposed to act like, but you're not what I imagined." All the teachings of the Seven did not prepare him for a dinner with a god who also was partially his granddaughter.

He did not know anymore.

"I care about talent, dedication, hard work, and loyalty, not sermons, rituals, or worship." In fact, none of the seven—well, six Archons and one Sovereign Dragon—she had met cared about those superficial concepts that only served to boost one's ego.

"I don't know what brought you to this world, but you are probably the best thing that happened to this kingdom. Thank you." Lucan, with uncharacteristic humbleness, bowed his head to Argella, grateful for all that she had done and would do in the future.

"You are welcome."

"I just realized something. Is Carn from your world?" The deity before him blinked before her form began to morph, and in seconds, a man of average looks stood before him.

"There is no Carn, just a guise to make my affairs easier." She started with the voice of the man before returning back to her child form halfway through.

"You can change shape like that?" Lucan leaned forward, fascinated at seeing magic, or a divine miracle, so close in person.

"Yes."

"Then why do you take the form of a woman?" Old Lord of Parchments did not mean any offense, but with the way her eyes narrowed and his hair stood on end, Lucan figured he did offend her.

"And what is wrong with being a woman?" Ei asked with a challenging look, and Lucan relized he was in a dangerous territory.

"Nothing, simple curiosity."

"Me and my twin, Makoto, always were like this, and unlike this world, women in Teyvat are not treated as if they are second-class citizens." Her pointed glare told Lucan things were going to change drastically with her on the throne.

"You have a twin?" He didn't know if they could handle two gods.

"Had. She died five hundred years ago." Argella's tone told him she did not wish to speak of it any longer.

"My condolences."

"Thank you."

They only left the solar at midnight, with Ei answering Lucan's questions about Teyvat and her future plans.

In the next chapter:

"Hmm. I suppose you would know better. What of Jocelyn?" The Lord of Parchments loved his granddaughter. She was a sweet and dutiful girl, but Argella's interest in her had him excited.

"I was thinking of educating her to be a secretary, an aide who will organize my work."

"Do you really need that?" He had seen firsthand hand how fast Argella handled work. If he was that fast, Lucan would have a lot fewe wrinkles for sure.

"Need? No. I am immortal; I can always find time to finish my work, but humans are not, and as such, any delays will be to their detriment. Also, it will be a step towards changing how women are viewed in this world."

"It has been like this for eight thousand years; do you think you can change it?" Lucan knew this was dangerous territory. He too was of the mind that women should stick to the roles they had for the last eight thousand years, but saying that in front of Argella was a tremendously stupid idea, so he kept it to himself.

"I would prefer it happen through example and understanding, but if I have to take my blade to it, I shall do exactly that." Her gaze told Lucan the future wasn't going to be all good, for the lords of the kingdom at least.
