    The anime is about
    Alien invasion / emergence of strange creatures.
    The emergence / invasion points will spread an environment that can cause sever mental problems(super creepy)

    The MCs are people chosen by governments to drive Gundam like robots to explore and do tasks in those areas ( apparently normal techs have difficulty collecting data)

    The Gundam things A I is based from souls so the driver need to be super close with the A.I or is a blood relative.

    kinda sounds like Neon Genesis Evangelion to be honest.

    But there's also plenty others that probably fit that bill.
