[RPG] KH: Hard Day's Knight 1.2

"Alright, let's go then." Paul said, and as he said so a jeep drove up to the diner. Inside was a a woman around Paul's age with sunglasses on.

"You call for a ride?" She asked, Paul just chuckled at that.

"Yup, glad you were able to get here so soon. Come on, we've got a ride." Paul said while walking over to the jeep and putting his phone away. Hraz meanwhile hopped into the back of it, getting ready for the ride while checking the equipment that was brought in the back.

 

"..." The Cleric was obviously hesitant about getting into the strange transport. "...Is this... Self moving carriage reasonably safe?" He says, looking to Paul.

 

"The...carriage, jeep in this case, is safe. Problem is the driver." Paul said, taking the front passenger seat.

"Not my problem if you have problems with my just getting you to where you asked as fast as possible." The woman said with a shrug.

 

Taking the Privateer's word for it, Konstantin then proceeded to slowly squeeze himself into the Jeep.

Of course, given how goddamn big he was, it was a tight fit, and the jeep listed precariously to the side due to the added weight.

 

Seeing that, Hraz sighed and called for the four Moogle knights to join in...mostly to try and balance out the weight a bit. All four of the small warriors piling in on the other side of Konstantin.

Immediately after they were in and something like buckled in, the woman driving began laughing and got the jeep moving. Heading right towards their next destination at speeds that would be a bad idea on a long straight and flat road let alone in a forest.

"So yeah, if things go smoothly. We should be getting there in just a couple minutes...assuming no one crashes us into anything." Paul said, turning to look back at Konstantin and let him know how things were looking. The driver just laughing as if she were mad.

 

"...Your friend seems to enjoy going at such speeds to a concerning degree." Konstantin observed, his tone eerily stoic, though perhaps it was because he was focusing much of his willpower on not letting the sheer speeds they were going at get to him. "Does she get your crew killed on a regular basis due to this?"

 

"Killed? Not yet. Hurt though? Well if you aren't careful and don't have something like your seat belt on...it's happened more than once. Although one of those times was because there was suddenly a spear of Earth sticking out of the ground one second before running into it." Paul said, nonplussed at the jeep going at a 45 degree angle for a few seconds. "So, I'd suggest put on the seat belt if you don't have it on." He continued, gesturing to his own seat belt.

 

Konstantin attempted to place on said seat belt, before discovering quite abruptly that it did not fit, as it was not made for someone of his sheer size. Oh dear.

"..."

Accepting the possibility of injury, he quietly cast a Barrier Miracle over his body so that any... Unwanted impacts would be absorbed upon the event of an accident.

The barrier was invisible to people without magical sight. It stretched over the whole of Gravity Falls, like a gigantic glass dome. It stretched up high overhead, and the Jeep quickly approached it. As it crossed through the barrier though... Konstantin slammed into the barrier, and out the back of the vehicle. He flopped back onto his back, crushing parts of the car underneath his massive body.

 

"...Hm." He didn't think that was supposed to happen. Good thing he'd cast that miracle. He might bruise a little, but he hardly noticed anything hurting. With a huff, he hauled himself to his feet and dusted himself off, slowly getting off the crushed Jeep.

 

"Well, that's...worrying. Very worrying to see." Paul said, hopping out of the jeep alongside Hraz. Who was carrying a bunch of their gear.

"Yeah, if what I've heard is accurate. Then that is a very not good sign." Hraz said, handing Paul some of his gear while fastening some of her swords in place. The Jeep toppling over onto it's side as a method for stopping, with it's driver just pulling herself out and the Moogles helping her tip it back onto it's wheels.

 

"Perhaps it is, but what does it mean?" He pressed, going up to the Barrier and kicking it a couple times.

 

The Barrier continued to light up... And at Konstantin's fingertips, Darkness began to grow. They could all feel the Darkness, the Evil, burning from it...

 

"That the barrier that is meant to keep things like creatures of darkness and basically demons from passing through, is for some reason keeping you from passing through. That is-"

"Extremely stop touching the barrier before something really bad happens." Paul said, trying to move to get Konstantin from touching the barrier any further. And hopefully stop some horrible thing from happening.

 

He almost immediately withdrew, taking a step back and looking at his hand, his expression a sneer bearing a hint of uncertainty and concern. "It can't be... I, a Cleric of the Order of the Holy Flame, Tainted?"

He took another step back, shaking his head. "I- No, no I cannot let this be. Perhaps if I pray for a time I can purify my soul of the Darkness..." He muttered desperately. "Or- No, perhaps a session of Flagellation will work to bleed the taint from by body. I just need to find a whip and..."

 

The Darkness flared like flames from his fingertips... And shot off, back towards the town. Another flare of darkness... And Heartless shakily rose from the ground, surrounding them.

 

"I think before any of that, we should take care of these wretches first." Paul said, drawing a saber with a damascened pattern and a pistol. "And whatever it was that flew back towards the town."

Hraz and the others drew drew their own weapons, mostly swords. With the driver sending a text while pulling out a shotgun. "I've sent a few messages. The rest of the crew should know what's up, and hopefully those keyblade kids will know soon too." The driver said, putting her phone on her side and readying the shotgun.

 

"Noted." He said, before taking a deep breath to calm his heart, before taking a tight grip on his Hammer, summoning white lightning to course through it, and swinging it full force at the nearest grouping of Heartless to smash through them with Purified Strength.

 

The Heartless were weak little shadows that swarmed, trying to strike at Paul and his crew like a mass of furious ants!

 

Sheathing his blade with holy and light magic, as well the pistol with the same mixture of magics, Paul began lashing out. Firing off a few rounds with his pistol at some of the Heartless, as well slashing at some of them with his word.

As he did so, Hraz and the others began attacking. Mostly close range for the Moogles with their holy swords, while Hraz used a fire whip alongside her foil. Then the driver fired off a round or two with her shotgun.

 

Dice Rolls: 6, 19, 11

Several of the Shadows burst into dust, their captive hearts floating away. The swarm parted and retreated, gathering more numbers, before they rose in a column and fell like a tree!

Dice Roll: 17

The strike clapped like thunder, and the Heartless swarm was blasted back, many vanishing and releasing their hearts. More Heartless sunk into the ground around Konstantin, darting about and probing for weaknesses.

 

Grabbing his Warhammer by the middle of it's shaft, he smashed it pommel first into the ground, sending a shockwave of Light rippling outwards from him to force them from their cowardly states. "Be judged!" He called out.

 

Paul just kept firing some more shots off with his pistol, not wanting to switch over to full on magic spells yet if he could help it. Hraz continued to use her fire whip to attack, not really wanting to risk trying one of her Ivalice summon spells here. And the four Moogles attacking, mostly lashing out with their swords. Though one using a Choco Meteor to try and take out a few more at a time. Plus the driver just still using her shotgun from the jeep.

 

Dice Roll: 10

A few Heartless were forced from their states, popping up. Others scattered away, trying to hide in the underbrush.

Dice Roll: 11, 6, 2

The Heartless slipped into their flat, shadow forms, skittering like roaches to try and get behind the combatants. They were getting more numerous.

 

Approaching the outskirts of the town from the direction of the ship, the knight Deryk was aimed for the eating hall the rest of the crew had gone to, hoping that they could meet there in time or see them drive by.

*beep beep*

The knight paused at the sound coming from his own person before fishing around for the advanced contraption he had been given. The 'cellphone' was fished out and opened up. Pausing on the side of the road the armored knight squinted at the text as he focused his mind to understanding the words.

One stood out as very familiar and important from his lessons. "He-art.. heart..less. Heartless!" That was the name of those beings of shadow so like the Ghosts from the world of darkness that necromancers summoned in his world, the ones that had overrun said world.

Heartless were here? The rest was a bit too much to decipher right now so the knight paused before looking around. If there was obvious signs of the dark creatures he'd move to engage and failing signs of that he'd try to rouse the commonfolk to head to some shelter.

 

The tall, armored Cleric continued to lay into them with his Hammer, no mercy in his blows, every strike one of Holy Vengeance against Evil!

 

"I need some of you to hold them off of me for a bit." Paul said, and immediately afterwards the four Moogles moving to protect Paul as he prepped a spell.

"What are you doing?" Hraz asked, still striking out with her fire whip spell and occasionally with her sword.

"You know how I picked up a whole lot of different magic spells, but am not exactly much of an expert."

"Ye...wait."

"Prepping an Illusionist spell. But I need some time to prep it. And then all these asshole will be blasted with some holy magic." Paul said, readying the spell. Taking more time than a full more proper Illusionist might need for the spell.

 

Dice Roll: 5

His strikes were a bit ineffective. But he could hear Paul talking about preparing a spell. Maybe he could help.

 

Thinking quickly, he raised his shield high and cast a Sacrifice Miracle! An ethereal shield manifested over Paul, and Konstantin readied himself to retaliate. Any blows struck against Paul would instead hit the Cleric in his place.

"Sol Invictus." He whispered.

The Heartless were not entirely mindless. They recognized that something was happening. They gathered into another swarm to try and charge Paul and his crew!
