That would make it a crossover.
It's been here for a year and a half, and other places (like FF.net) for a lot longer. Alas, the non-horny part of this website is dead.

Was the dog meant to be an expy of Courage the Cowardly Dog?"Don't worry about it," Bilbo waved. "He just took a dive in Tom's wine again, he'll be back to normal by tomorrow. Well…" Bilbo eyed the dog skeptically. "The purple in his fur might take a while to fade, and there'll be a tad more bravery in him than usual for a spell. He might be prone to gesticulating helplessly like a two-legged for the while, when something startles him, but he'll be fine."
Yep. There was a dog that Tolkien wrote about, called Roverandom. I played a bit, though, with the level of sentience allowed to animals on Arda.
I liked some, not all of what the movies did. 'No character at all' is a very low bar to clear, that doesn't mean I don't consider their characters to be a bit too cartoonish in places (which is a HIGH bar to clear compared to what they do as a monolithic group in the books). Also, the off-screen canon makes no sense - Balin is supposedly their banker but doesn't do anything with money and in fact is shit at it. Meanwhile, his keen eyes that make him the lookout don't exist. Also, Bifur having an axe in his head would have dosqualified him from coming along at all, let's not kid ourselves.I'm mildly confused by the dwarves, however. You said at the start that you liked at least some of characterization and individual flair the movies gave them, only to deja vu them into their book selves via Tom. May I inquire where would this be going?
Thank you for taking the time to appreciate it.Just caught this. Binged this. Loved this.
Thank you for something so beautiful.
