Mon of the Dead

[X] Spend time with Smoke. You know he likes your presence and it'll help relax him to have a familiar face/presence while he recovers.

(x) what are the pokemorphs getting up to? Did we drop them off at Konoe's or something?
(x) There must be some way to get Jenkins motivated. Maybe if we point some bored Fighting Gym members his way?

Uh. The Lopunny's name is Jenkins. Who's this Jeeves?

(Processing my vote. Please hold... You know what, it'll have to wait 'til SB recovers. I need an archive trawl.)

I feel like adding more pictures.

Might have to settle for 'close enough', mind, when it comes down to it.

Points of note:
-We offered to get Tsukyomi Konoe cigarettes and lighters.
-> Blast 'Blue' Hardcheese cancels loot: Interrupted by Zombie Arcanine. (We haven't gotten anything this loot run, so far as I can tell.)
-Rei, Butch (magikarp) and Buff (zubat) are still with Konoe.
-We have a list of martial arts teachers. Happosai, 'foreign girl's grandmother', Dan, Ryu, Hinako (subject uncertain, I suggest investigating at some point), Dojo Master (Master level only).

Already delivered things to Konoe, but yes, Arcanine outta nowhere this time.

Argh, can't find any with kimono'd magikarp. Well, she'll evolve eventually. This will do for now.

Ok, good. So I take it that we did that while Smoke was resting? (Elsewise, I can't figure out when we might have done that.)

Picked up and delivered 'yesterday', along with raiding a bunch of furniture from dead stone guy's house.

Oh. Hunh. How'd I miss that?

Well, on with the show, anyway.

EDIT: Double checking, wasn't the stone-collector house looting the morning? I get the impression the Arcanine Incident was after lunch on the same day.

.... Maybe, yeah. Actually, yes. I misrecalled.

Also, finding a pink slime-girl in a maid outfit is pretty darn hard. Just finding a pink slime girl that isn't outright pornographic is tricky. But hey, pictchoors~

[X] Spend time with Smoke. You know he likes your presence and it'll help relax him to have a familiar face/presence while he recovers.

[X] Hugs for Smoke for saving us. Then make him rest and take care of him until he recovers fully.

[X] Take the rest of the day off, spend time with Smoke. Then bed time.

[X] Recuperation

Smoke seems antsy about just staying in bed.

Unless you're right there with him. Then he calms right down, whole body sagging a bit. He seems to fall asleep after only a few minutes.

You don't really nod off until after the robot clinks in and moves to a corner, muttering something about a 'standby mode'. Her eyes dim after that.

Nothing else to do but to rest until dinner. Vegetable soup. Delicious.

For most, anyway. Butch, when she arrives, seems really disappointed with the fare. You get the feeling that her eyes would be wide and dewy... if she had any, that is. She's definitely nibbling on a trembling lower lip.

You sigh and reach your hand out, only for Komoe to immediately catch it by the wrist.

"No. Brush first." She says, sternly, as the people-shaped zubat wilts. But provided with a plain toothbrush, and ears twitching constantly the whole way, she retreats to the bathroom.

You're a little confused as to why the teacher is insisting on oral hygiene before you remember some common facts about zubat. They don't inject poison unless they mean to, with a bite, but their teeth are designed in such a way that you will still want to have the injury, no matter how minor, seen to and treated immediately. Zubat fangs tend to easily spread disease and infection, even if they aren't trying to poison what they bite.

Rebuked, you wait for Butch's return, and a demonstration of shiny, clean teeth... with, on closer inspection, the distinctive differences of a zubat fang in the canines.

You decide, rather than biting, to just nick another finger. It takes a few moments to find something suitable to do so.

"What do you say?" Komoe interrupts again, before the zubat can latch onto your finger.

"..... Pleeease?" she responds, after a moment of hesitation.

If it weren't for the height differences, you're fairly sure the teacher would be patting her on the head. Instead, she has to settle for the lower back.

"They've learned a lot with me." Komoe chirps. "By level, they have increased by one, each! If you want them back, it will be two hundred...."

"What?" You say, dryly, as the zubat's tongue coils around your finger and she carefully tries to suckle out every last drop she can manage.

The teacher pauses, then rubs the back of her neck awkwardly.

"Hehe... sorry. Day-care certification exams." Komoe explains, without explaining anything at all. "They really stress some things. Anyway, they're learning well.... it's just that your little princess over there is kind of stubborn, the cheeky girl. She refuses to talk at all where she can be heard until she's mastered speech."

Buff waves lazily and unapologetically from where she's seated herself in a pool of kimono. You carefully pull your finger free, to Butch's disappointed 'aauu'.

"Anyway, whether they want to use it or not, they both have the basics down-" Komoe continues, only to be interrupted as Butch lifts her up from behind and cuddles her like a large teddy bear, or someone of her apparent age. The teacher's cheeks color. "H-hey now, put me down! Just because I look like this doesn't mean you can manhandle me like a kid-"

She breaks off into a squeal as Butch spins around. For some reason it sounds more like she's excited than upset. Then she coughs as she's put back down.

"Geeze... I'm over forty, you know..." she grumbles slightly, trying to regain her composure.

Cute.

[X] Well, you do appreciate this. You don't really have a lot of spare time, and you're not really a great teacher yourself...
[X] Linda is probably off looking for Dan or Ranma or somebody to forget about that Arcanine with. Maybe you should try her other coping mechanism for yourself (hitting the bottle)?

No, bad Guile. Let's not turn Blue to drinking quite yet.

[X] Yeah, let's not remember the zombie Arcanine. Maybe training our barriers a bit to forget (and so they're not so useless). Let's try the gentler way of training Komoe suggested... this morning...? Huh. Feels like it's been weeks rather than a couple of hours.

Glancing at stuff before fall-downs, there is a confusing point that looks like a slight discrepancy, but isn't exactly.

Yes, Komoe never thought about becoming a day-care manager.

But yes, she also took the certification exams for it.

It's one of the battery of tests involved to become a teacher of any sort: you have to either get a waiver and have a teacher's assistant, or be officially certified to mind both small children and pokemon, because sometimes the kids are lucky enough to have a pet before traditional age, or the parents send one along with them, and as a teacher you are obligated to keep both under control while you're in the classroom.

So basically, pretty much any teacher is qualified to run a day-care of either sort, whether or not they're actually interested in doing so.

[X] Encourage Buff, we are impatient of hearing her voice!
[X] Pet Butch, she is a good girl.
[X] Training barriers after dinner. Don't remember the Arcanine.

[x]You appreciate this, etc.
-[x]Ask if it's okay if you brought them by for more speech lessons tomorrow.
--[x]Is there anything else you should keep an eye out for when exploring, or are smokes all she really wants right now?
[x]If it's not too late, bring Buff and Butch by to meet your parents, talk for a bit, etc.
[x]Try to get a bit of psychic training in before bed.

If memory serves, Blue's parents were trainers themselves, and one of 'em had a Gyarados. While I'd suggest taking it easy tomorrow and doing some more training, another trip home with Rei in tow to clear out the zombies might yield some results.

Gyarados and... I can't recall, something with Lightningrod. They mainly did double-battles after getting together.

They left them with a friend because Gyarados, at least, are big honkin' sea serpents that don't much appreciate staying in the middle of urban areas for long stretches of time. Particularly when the owner's retired to raise a kid.

They got sent off to endless day-care a friend's place in the countryside.

I think you mentioned them getting sent off, but it's been a while. Thinking less Pokemon and more Pokemon-related goods, for what it's worth.

Oh my god I'm getting GyaraVire flashbacks; such a good combination of pokemon on paper, but completely fucking useless in reality.
