My Dao is [TBD] (Xianxia on Earth)

In the year 2025 the world changed forever. A great rift opened in the sky and a giant stepped through. And immediately collapsed.

He was dying. But before he went, he told the world many things. First, Xianxia was absolutely true. He had originally lived on Earth before dying the first time and being reincarnated into a Xianxia world. Their worlds and ours were separate though, and time flowed differently in theirs. He had lived for a very long time indeed, before hearing the news that another group of previously isolated worlds were going to be brought into the fold. Curious, he had checked them out and immediately recognized his original worlds. Realizing what this meant, he had taken a gamble, destroying the God Gate that was meant to connect to our cluster of worlds, while going through himself just before the destruction. Unfortunately, he was mortally wounded in the attempt. Now his will was for us to learn to cultivate, so as to be more ready when the inevitable happened and our world was rediscovered and attempted to be colonized.

To facilitate that, he used the power of his soul and treasures to open our world to the Taiji, the source of all. Now the world could cultivate properly. That also meant that everything else could cultivate as well though, leading to superpowered beasts, machines, and other horrors appearing around the globe.

This is the world you grew up in, one full of monsters, both human and other, with humanity knowing that it MUST grow stronger as a whole if it is to survive. The world has "unified" with one theoretical government. Of course, the main government is more of a referee than anything, only dealing with the most blatant of offenses. Instead, the world is truly governed by the Six Provinces: Asia, Europe, Centralia, Africa, America, and Meridia.

You live in Center City Detroit, a grand walled city on the shores of the Great Lakes. You have made it into the Steel Heart Sect, one of the many Sects dedicated to raising disciples into true experts. From this moment on, you will be baptized in a path of endless war and self-improvement.

Nah, it's fine. Honestly, pretty vanilla. I will add that with that Day you are committing to an aggressive form of the Justice Dao, i.e. getting the criminal is your priority, protecting the innocent is of a distinctly tertiary importance.

This isn't a criticism of the idea, I'm planning on doing a post like this for each new idea.

I'm going to hard pass on it being the anime Ryoga. For one, I am intending for most elements of modern culture to have survived, meaning Ryoga would exist in a world where he is a manga. That's just too meta for me. Second, his wandering ability would pull him from the initial environment I'm intending for the story and make him an absolute bitch to write.

On the Dao thing, Dimensional Travel is fine, as is it being unintentional and you needing to learn to control it, but making"killing Ranma" a part of your Dao would be a bad idea. You need to constantly act in accordance to your Dao to avoid Heart Demons, but if you ever succeeded, the basis of your Dao would vanish, leaving you unable to act on your Dao, also leading to Heart Demons. Don't make an accomplishable task your Dao, and remember that high level cultivators are basically Azathoth.

Powerful, yes. Also VERY slow cultivation. You will desperately need resources to cultivate with. Still, you would likely be one of the most powerful figures on your cultivation level.

I just did a internet check, and yeah, Taylor can be both male and female. I have seen fanfics where Taylor is a dude without changing the name. In this case, a male xianxia expy of the Queen of Escalation is exactly what I'm going for.
