Pornhub Content Purge

I can't believe Pornhub pulled a tumblr...!

edit:

The NYT article that caused it all:

edit: changed link

I mean what choice did the site have when Visa and Mastercard pulled their services in response to the article. The hub gave no shits about moderation til their income was turned off. The nuclear option to try to maybe get that turned back on was their only choice.

And so power goes to porn companies who've now had their "competition" kneecapped. I wonder how much they pushed to see this happen. As a side note, the duopoly of Visa and Mastercard and their ability to dictate what happens on the internet needs to die in a fire.

Hmmm... this is not to troublesome for me. I basically didn't use it.

There was like one old as fuck TV add where some guys were using a car video game and it turns out as they were pimping out the car, it was also changing the lady across the street and they gave her a titjob and stripped her and stuff.. that was kinda neat. Other than that... ehhhh... I think there were a few silly Japanese hypno porn things I checked out once because they were so over the top silly nonsense? I normally don't watch live action porn and there is more specialized sites for animated stuff on the rare occasion that I fee like checking something out instead of reading...

I wonder what it says about me that I know exactly which ad you're talking about. It was an ad for Juiced, a racing game. I'd link a video of it but this is technically in general rather then a nsfw section.

As far as I have heard, they deleted everything that wasn't verified.

Wonder which new site is going to rise from this vacuum of 'porn drought'. Since I doubt Pornhub is going to be able to verify millions if not tens of millions of porn individually, or the flood stream of unverified porn that will hit when PH makes a solution of sorts. And I though 2020 could not get anymore. Now they are taking my favorite animated movies down!

Bing, indirectly.

I'm betting that the porn site market will balkanize, especially as most of the current major porn sites will likely follow suit (for the same financial reasons), meaning that the resulting vacuum will be filled with the horde of smaller players. Meanwhile Bing will continue its "memetically brutally honest search results" as it has a sugardaddy (Microsoft) and thus being much less beholden to the opinions of financial powers like visa & mastercard (what are those 2 gonna do, boycott Microsoft? I doubt it).

Thus regardless of which sites filled in the demand most degenerates will use bing to find them...

Someone suggested elsewhere that the reason Pornhub did a massive purge was to set up things so they could sue Visa and Mastercard if they didn't make Youtube, Twitter, and other big sites do the same thing.

Anyway this is annoying since Pornhub had a bunch of PMVs and SFM stuff that is now gone

Wait, is Bing actually a good search engine? Last I checked it was pretty bad, but I guess I last checked last decade.

These days for most regular/mundane searches Bing is comparable to Google (and honestly most major search engines are comparable in terms of performance). One major edge Bing has over Google though is their NSFW search capabilities (especially as you can fully turn safe search off, unlike with Google despite whatever Google officially claims). The reason for this lies in Bing's long standing unpopularity: because no one uses it, degenerates gravities towards it, knowing that no one's gonna check their bing search histories (this mainly being back in the day when families had to share computers). Also it helps that Bing is much less beholden to ad sponsors than Google, hence their seemingly few fucks given attitude.

As for their "more honest search result" reputation, just check out this: Google vs. Bing meme compilation

Visa and Mastercard are well above the threshold where they should not be allowed to pull such bullshit unless a court orders them to do so. It's like if the postal service stopped delivering your mail after the neighborhood gossip monger spread a bad rumor about you.

Yeah, they really should not be able to just cut people off like that with no prior warning or chance for correction to change the problem. But strongly worded messages probably have been sent to them before by various groups so the instant shutdown at the first excuse is possible if they had the will. Looks like enough people high up had the will at that time.

I have no idea what their contracts or terms of service requires or even say legally but its porn so people is not gonna rise to defend them especially against removal of CP and other content. And the hub as a company is small and no major backers to help cover lawyers like Google for YouTube.

People not rising to defend porn is why we have the long ongoing situation where obscenity is used as an end-run around the right to freedom of speech.

I can't imagine YouTube pulling a purge on a similar scale... Like it certainly could happen, especially if Google's parent company avoids any sort of credit card system of their own, but I think such a purge would be an incredibly significant event in the history of the internet!

Should we use some archived link instead? I try not to be too paranoid, but I do not want the article to be updated from right under us. I suppose it would also allow people to read it without giving NYT the satisfaction of clicks (for those who care about that), but mainly it might be good to be sure about what was in the original version.

I have heard that in some cases, companies are legally required to follow up with every formal complaint. The threat of a big enough cancelling wave (e.g. some bots maybe) might have so high a monetary cost that a company cannot afford to keep supporting something. Of course, I am no legal professional so anyone more informed is free to come in and declare how wrong I am.

Well here's a snapshot someone else already took of the page. Generally speaking if you have a url from a "news" site you can always put it into an archive site and find an archived version of it already there.

For extra spiciness, note that they only found like, a bit more than 100 cases of actual underage porn in pornhub. Because contrary to expectations, Pornhub does put some effort into moderating things, or maybe people are less bastards there than usual.

Meanwhile, facebook has like millions of reports of underage stuff/pedophilia. Comparing the proportions shows pornhub as being amazingly well behaved in comparison.

But the fucking banks hit pornhub instead, because society keeps on shitting on the people who just want to enjoy themselves.

I hate it.

Why can't they just leave us alone?

Because Facebook isn't responsible for countless chargebacks from people who don't want to admit that they paid for porn.

Hello Newgrounds!

But more seriously, the more live girl content, is screwed in comparison. Point of view wise.

As is, I've went on a deep rant/speculation on SB. But as is, modus operati wise; I doubt PornHub will regain it's bank account access, if it's still showing some semblence/signs of Pornography after this. Or no stingy automata or moderati response in content verification.

I hear new grounds got their own version of flash now since that isn't supported anymore

Is this related to the search engine not giving results when you type into the search bar?

Oh shit. Oh FUCKING shit.

Something similarly horrible just happened. Pastebin has gone off the deep end and set every pastebin with NSFW content (obviously using shitty and highly indiscriminate bots to nuke whole swathes of the site) to 'private', meaning only the creator can read them.

There goes all of the CoC and TiTs sex scenes, or even just general posts from such settings.

There goes any fanfics posted there.

There goes all of the myriad monstergirl stories, whether lewd or not (I can't find this non-NSFW paste about a weresheep's daily life).

And if the paste was anonymously posted? GONE FOREVER.

It's snowballing, and getting worse and worse. Fucking hell I hate this year.

At this rate, O Canada or alternate sources/sauces aside. It's going to at worst, be a potential "guide/strike" moment to go all Darknet, or deep/"local networks" instead, at worst.

And if it goes as far as that? How long until it no doubt hit's QQ By the purse or equivalent? Or worse, even if a porn site has decent controls against kid porn, those banks will defund them regardless, if going under a conspiracy lens?
