[RWBY] No Victory in Strength (Minecraft Jaune)

2. Do you guys think Jaune should've agreed to go all-in on empowering Atlas like Ironwood wanted or was he right to say no?
Jaune absolutely has the right to set boundaries. He needs those so he wont get taken advantage of. Yes his abilities are a great asset but Jaune is more than his abilities and he isnt a robot for people to order around.

Questions:

1. Who do you guys wanna see interact with Jaune next and why? Either a character or a faction as a whole? The commissioner has final say, of course, but I'm curious all the same. Maybe the White Fang now that Ironwood (and Atlas by extension) had their shot?

Hmm. I'm morbidly curious about seeing how Jacques is reacting to the madness that is Jaune, though I don't really want to see the two interact. I would also like to see more of Ruby and Jaune being adorable together. The two of them making plans for incredibly powerful weapons and stuff together that they then test would be adorable.

I do think that Jaune was right to refuse Ironwood, and that Ironwood went into this exchange with the wrong mindset. I'm also suspicious of Winter's timing there and think that she may have been prepared to come in as an appeal to Jaune's good nature.

Honestly, after seeing all these Huntresses and People in power trying to use Jaune, I just want him to return back to his kingdom, with Ruby (and maybe Pyrrha) as the only love interests.

Screw everyone else.
He can just expand his own kingdom's forces and be ready for Salem when she comes.

Regarding Jaune's refusal of Ironwood - He was absolutely right. People keep trying to drag him under them, but they don't realize he isn't one of them. He isn't a citizen of Atlas or Vale - He's the ruler of his own lands. They need to start treating him like how they would a foreign king.

I'd prefer someone who's entire reason for even interacting with him isn't to get something from him. Someone who is content with what he's already given them and who wont ask for more.

And I guess that would only include Glynda and Pyrrha, I think.
I think Ruby would also qualify.

She enjoys the weapon upgrade, but she didn't ask for that stuff. And she pretty much just wants to date him because he shares the same interest and love of weapons as her. Which is a way better reason than Blake or Weiss or Yang's.

Man the Mt Glenn reclaimation is gonna be amazing! Cant wait to see how Vale bitchs about it. And since it was abandoned they cant impose anything. And i think it is fair for Jaune to refuse people. Best set boundaries so that he doesnt get treated as a pushover.

What's wrong with Yang? She's also not asking for stuff.

Wasn't she explicitly in this just for kicks? Like she joined just to prove a point about her own attractiveness?

She says she likes him cause of his looks, personality, and being established. Shallow maybe, but she's not asking or expecting Jaune to spoil her. Especially since her plan is to be a wandering adventurer.

So basically she just wants to get laid.

Fair enough. That honestly does make her better than Blake or Weiss, so I retract my prior statement.

I can actually respect Ironwood for being so direct. He didn't try to hide what he was asking behind colourful words just directly went for it. Sure he was overreaching massively but at least he was honest, more then most of the others could say.

He's still rather entitled given how much he expects from Jaune. First meeting and already demands Jaune's loyalty to a kingdom that's not his own.

Realistically he was hoping for Jaune to have national pride in Vale not Atlas. His issue is one of perspective, from Ozpin's view we learn that the outlying settlements of Atlas are almost never independent which seems opposite of Jaune's own experience of them being effectively city states. Ironwood simply doesn't have experience with people who don't consider themselves as part of the "parent" kingdom.

Also no one interacting Jaune except Ozpin understands what it means for him to have no need for wealth or connections so Ironwood was under the impression he could give fair recompense for the work.

Huh, nice. I'd like to say I totally planned that out, but in truth of the idea was that Ironwood short circuited and he just defaulted to what he usually uses - nationalism for Atlas, because he pretty much always talks to Atlesians outside of rare occasions. Jaune has t point out he's not Atlesian but James continues regardless.

But I like this idea of it being values dissonance due to the different relationships of settlements in Solitas so I'm totally stealing it :D

Nah, Ruby was offered stuff, but genuinely she mostly just has a legit crush, even if he didn't give her more stuff, she's coming on strong, but its her first crush so you can cut her some slack. Yang, kinda just wants sex at this point. Weiss and Blake are...problems, but then again they usually are, Blake especially, though its been even between the two of them in this fic.

Why do people think Yang just wants sex? If it's just sex she can go to a club. She wants a relationship. Her reasning might not be super deep, but she's a 17 year old. How many teenagers enter their first relationship for the deepest reasons?

It's one thing being generous and helpful, it's another being a dormat.

Yep. The recent chapters are establishing that Jaune is not one. He even tells Coco he's more or less rescinding his offer of tripleshot because she acted so entitled to a guy she literally just met.

Plot twist, Velvet becomes very good friends with Jaune and he offers to upgrade her camera. Coco after failing gives in but also offers her expertise in fashion if he needs it, because there's no way she's letting bad fashion exist.

Wonder how many will leave the White Fang after all this. Leaving only the extremists and the naive.

Side note, Sienna is definitely gonna try to snatch up Jaune but he gets so fed up he just up and leaves.

Ghira and Kali though doesn't ask for anything and just welcomes the friendly human, after all he knows he has nothing to pay him with so might as well be friends with him.

Also I wonder how many will just up a move to Domremy after all this. Both human and Faunus alike.

definitely setting up to assasinate him or marry Weiss or Winter to him and gain another tool

If she likes him for his looks and personality imo that isn't shallow at all. It'd be shallow if she was interested because of his wealth or something.

Sienna is interesting to me. She's a legitimate believer in the cause, unlike Adam, but she is also anti-Human and her platform runs in it. She cannot ask Jaune for help since it would undermine her position, meaning her only chance really is to kidnap Jaune and enslave him because that allows her to have her cake and eat it too. Asking for help would discredit her whereas enslaving a Human is just karma.

Of course, all this does is piss off the god-tier craftsman…

Idk I was thinking she'd use him as a tool to further her cause. I mean people (human and Faunus) are hypocrites we can bend our values if the reward is great enough. And in Siennas view, Jaune would definitely be worth it. She can even use his acts of helping Faunus to get others to support her. Which can also be a flashpoint for the White Fang to splinter into two. Less extremists vs extremists.

Problem being Sienna is anti-Human personally and her group runs on it. She takes Hazel's presence in her throne room as an insult in canon just cause he's human. Having to ask - or worse, BEG - Jaune for help discredits her and terrorist groups run on zealotry, so she only looks worse off. She enables violent extremists like Adam, so doing a 180 and suddenly trying to pass Jaune off as an ally would NOT be held well.

That and Jaune wouldn't help her willingly. This chapter shows he's not a doormat and he would not see the appeal in aiding a terrorist who has been running an anti-human platform. He also wouldn't help Jacques for similar reasons. Sienna is used as the moderate reasonable one in fanfiction, but her short appearance in canon shows her to be a terrorist. Her only complaint about Adam attacking Beacon was that it makes them look bad. Not the innocent people - majority humans - who were killed.

This is the start of a new legend, he will become just like Brandon the Builder for Remnant. Who built all this incredible buildings and cities, Jaune the Builder, why? He was bored
jaune THE master builder,he has friends in the monster hunter world right? when can they visit him, and another thing he has a golden army {his knights} the reaction is gona be funny

Bad memories and/or bad faith, I believe.

Cuz yeah, Yang honestly has the best motivation to want to get with Jaune, because her motivations for being attracted to Jaune are simply that she's thinks he's attractive, not because of what he can do or what he gave her.

Which by the way is an actually shallow motivation to want to get with someone. Wanting to be with someone because they're rich is far shallower than because you genuinely find them attractive.

Even Ruby likes Jaune primarily because of what he can do with weapons, not who he is.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure Yang has done more to actually get to know him than the other girls on Team RWBY. Where she learned that he has some experience with girls that only want him for his Semblance.

So my vote for who he interacts with is definitely Yang and Pyrrha, who is similarly less shallow in her motivations for finding him attractive than the rest of the cast.

I mean, Ruby liking him for what he can do with weapons and looks is basically, "The pretty and nice boy is sharing my main hobby, and I love bounding with him while doing my favorite things." Sharing hobbies and (clearly) thinking he is attractive while he respects her skill in her hobbies, even as he is better than her at it, is hardly superficial reasoning.

and with how both of them seem to treat crafting as a big part of their lifes? Ruby probably has the firmest base to want to have a relationship on.

Ruby isn't interested in Jaune because he gives infinite ammo, that is a plus. She is interested in a boy that is good enough to craft weapons with her wile respecting her. And if he respectfully teaches her new things? Well, she would indeed like a senpai

I think the biggest issue from Jaunes perspective is things like helping Atlas is a serious time commitment, potentially even resource commitment depending on the details and in doing so Jaune loses opportunity cost / time in helping other places in far greater need. There is also the aspect of lack of things he might want but some of the tech Atlas has in secret might actually be of interest at least mild/moderately like robotics, while Golems fill this role for Jaune I think he might be able to be convinced in the potential necessity to acquire Atlas robotics technology as a failsafe incase something happens to himself. After all who knows what esoteric abilities might exist that might bypass any of his abilities, protections etc so haveing at least some things not reliant on himself could prove useful. Plus perhaps there might be a way too hybridize robots and golems into something new.

As for things Jaune might do / interactions he might have I think it might be useful to more openly prove he does not need money by selling off a bunch of stuff, again this also serves a duel purpose as well in perhaps forming a 'treasury' for any trade for the rare things his town might want from the outside world. Nothing wrong with having a large reserve of cash even if it might seem unneeded its better to have then not have and could be a good way to offload things that are taking too much storage space.

Hm, what do you guys think of Coco? Did she come off as any worse than Ironwood, Blake, or Weiss?
