Sneaking His Way into the Multiverse (RWBY Jaune, WC-lite mechanics)

So that was awesome. I like how you're presenting the different power systems. Aura is really good, well rounded, and has a little bit of flair from semblances. It is excellent for making supersoldiers. ESPERs are great for making bullshit.

I want Accelerator to get aura. His semblance would probably be like Ravens, Teleport to friends and know when they are in trouble.

Jaunes semblane has activated two times and both without notice. He really needs to sit down with Tatletale and see if she can figure out their semblances. If you need a power for Tattletale, how about Switch? Like boogeywoogy from JJK, Tattletale can switch places with an ally. As she developed the power, she could eventually teleport them to her or vice-versa. This would represent her general stance with fighting, "my friend does that not me, here fight him instead."

Just found and binged this story. Ngl I didn't expect to like tattletale this much

I can't wait until they leave this world. It's starting to feel like a powerscalers wet dream, and Jaune and Lisa just don't mesh well with how genuinely shitty everyone is in TnI.
I like that the author of the novels does interesting things with it. The core of the story stays on the people rather than making it a question of whose power is stronger.

She honestly makes this fic kind of exhausting for me to read. I wish there was just any kind of counter weight to her.
Noted. Don't expect her to magically change. Personality clashes and imperfect team dynamics are interesting to explore. Harmony in chaos and all that.

Personally I am liking the current arc. It fits well in contrast to the last world to see them again in over their head and struggling. I feel like Jaune does his best work under those conditions, and Tattletale is more fun when she's both finding her powers really useful (e.g. against the memetic attack/information warfare enemy of last chapter) and making crucial mistakes. This world provides opportunities for both.
I'm happy to hear it! One big thing I did not want going into this story is having the plot turn into how they would make all these plans that they then carry out without a hitch, instead of how they as people interact with the different worlds.

Tats isn't that annoying. She's probably the best way to cut right to the heart of things, which works well in a fast world hopping story like this.

Good on Jaune for surviving the first slap, though. Props for that.
She definitely allows for greater interactions with a world's plot than if Jaune was by himself. Without her, I see him just meandering in most universes, oblivious, before leaving. The story would stall as it requires twice the wordcount in setup to put him in the middle of events, and even then a lot of context would be missed altogether unless he stays for twenty more chapters.

I'm just wondering when Jaune will unlock his Semblance. He's fought against Leviathan and now Accelerator, two opponents vastly out of his league, yet still no Semblance. I honestly expected him to awaken his Semblance by now via an asspull-esque desperate stand against overwhelming odds. But even after jumping like five worlds, still no Semblance.

The canon way he unlocked his Semblance was by saving Weiss's life, but that sort of thing can't really happen in this fic, since Jaune has ready access to stimpaks and other healing items. In that sense, you've written yourself into a corner. Curious to see how you'll do it in this fic, or if Jaune will even have the same Semblance.
I did have it activate in the story already 😁
With a comparison to another time he activated it in canon RWBY, too.

It's incredible that she's worse here due to anime-isms.

She isn't nearly hot nor likeable enough to forgive NYEHEHEHEH.
Gasp! How can you say that?

Foolish. Tattletale is foxy and cute. Everyone knows foxes are the most trustworthy animals.
Exactly! Foxes can do no wrong.
And if problems do arise, Tattletale would say it's the world's fault, not hers.

I love how Tattletale realized that they just tried to take out this world's equivalent of the Triumvirate, and how lucky they are to still be alive.
It would have been very useful to know before they attack him 🤣

Their dynamic is amazing to read, after seeing hound dog in action I'm hoping that the next setting they go to is metag gear solid shadow Moses addition, the shenanigans that could occur, to bad jaune hasn't discovered his semblance yet, I'm not sure but if he used it I'm not certain he would be as messed up as he was. It was enjoyable to get to see tattletale deduce the motives of that esper.
Putting these two in a stealth segment would be interesting. And hilarious.

Well, this went exactly like everyone expected. Glad that they solved misunderstandings so fast.

I'm pretty sure that people who complain about Tattletale being MVP in this world just wanted Jaune to do something cool to remind who is the main character here. But good story writer knows their characters strengths and weaknesses. Jaune being almost useless here is very believable. After all, in the world where people can stop rotation of the planet and have mini Death Star that cuts continents, being just more durable than others will not really help. That should be a good motivation for him to learn more and become stronger.

Tattletale sure knows on what buttons to push. Even Accelerator became victim of her words.

Thanks for the update.
Yuuup, each character has a place suited for them, and as a fighter it would take more than what Jaune is right now to style on the multiverse.

Yet another chapter of P E A K. Thanks.

I don't really have the baggage a lot of others have with Lisa cuz I never read Worm so the following might be controversial but I truly dig her growing bondship with Jaune. Her being more motivated and able to use her powers here was nice to see. And I agree with that other guy that she's more useful here than Jaune due to their unique load outs.

Really appreciated Blank being shown to not be a be-all-end-all thing and that it can be circumvented or simply ignored ala Accelerator here with his calcs being good enough.

TLDR: continuing to ship the fox and golden retriever. Accelerator was badass.
I'm glad you've enjoyed the chapter.
Well...he can do it because vectors are simple. In this situation where he can't perform a new calculation regarding Jaune, he can fall back on what he knows, and he knows exactly how much force it takes to kill a person. Add a bit more to account for deviations and then he's golden, even if that wastes more of his finite battery than he would like.

'A mountain'? That's an attack measured at over an exaton of TNT. It makes the Tsar bomba look like a firecracker.

Better to say all of Asia, at a minimum.
lol
Tattletale - "That's enough to blow up all of Asia!"
Jaune - "And where are we?"
Tattletale - "Asia."
Jaune - whimpers

Five finger, I bet. This is just Tattletale being Tattletale, since I've been to Japan and those umbrellas are indeed dirt cheap.
Haha, yes! Jaune was told that she paid. She lied.

Honestly I think this is a great learning experience for them. Knowing that power scale can get this high and that The Endbringers arnt a one-off in the universe is a very good lesson to learn.Better they learn now than potentially somewhere worse like a shonen series. They also had their first screw up and ending up working for the wrong person so they should be more cautious in the future as well.
Right? There are worse places they're so unprepared for, and experiences like this are how they grow.

I loved the chapter, I'm completely addicted lol. Besides, I was rooting for Tattletale to grant an aura to Accelerator so that he would spare them. Imagine if the aura healed him completely, restoring his full power! But even weakened, he's really awesome.
Lastly, I really wanted them to stay longer in this world to see Tattletale's reaction when she saw magical gods capable of wiping out the Endbringers with a snap of their fingers. That would be hilarious lol.
Happy you liked it.
I think she would actually cry if she learned more about this universe 🤣

'shitty adults'. I'm getting Persona 5 flashbacks from this line. Nobody talks like that IRL. Not even teens with attitude.
... then again this is an anime setting so maybe they do.

... damn. That's some... range. Is this canon?
Canon on both counts. He is that strong, and he does have that worldview, as do a lot of the espers within the story. Academy City does not have a case of incompetent adults like in some novels, it has a case of 'exploitative for the sake of science and profit' adults, with scientists seeing the students of the city as just another resource.

So that was awesome. I like how you're presenting the different power systems. Aura is really good, well rounded, and has a little bit of flair from semblances. It is excellent for making supersoldiers. ESPERs are great for making bullshit.

I sort of prefer the Semblances that are more subtle. Gimmicky, and not always the answer to the problem. Supports the person without becoming the core of their strength. That type of thing.
Teleports are too useful, and I would just spam that for every fight I write if they have it.

Just found and binged this story. Ngl I didn't expect to like tattletale this much
Thanks for reading! Good to hear she's amusing you.

170k words into the fic, I wish people would stop complaining about the deuteragonist.
At least the intensity of those complaints toned down. It has been quite an experience to get so many calls for her death.

Great chapter! Thanks for posting :)
Thanks for reading!

The laws of anime in the Raildex universe/multiverse(?) are definitely affecting Tattletale and Jaune. Their reactions and thoughts are becoming more and more like anime characters.

It started small, little details, and its growing more and more over time. They behavior moving more and more in line with the residents of Raildex. It's interesting. I wonder if future universes/multiverses will affect them in similar ways. I'm curious how long it'll last after they leave and if Tattletale will notice.

'A mountain'? That's an attack measured at over an exaton of TNT. It makes the Tsar bomba look like a firecracker.

Better to say all of Asia, at a minimum.
Experimentation showed that the destructive radius of atomic bombs plateaus off after a certain yield and only increases very slowly thereafter. The issue is that once your fireball is big enough to reach the edge of space there's no longer anything confining the explosion and it's easier to shoot more energy out into space than to continue expanding inside the atmosphere. Essentially the earth is acting like the tamper on a shaped charge.

Gasp! How can you say that?

Exactly! Foxes can do no wrong.
And if problems do arise, Tattletale would say it's the world's fault, not hers.

Only if the Fox is cute. As a gritty grimderp world refugee, Tats is not cute.

She is in fact, by local standards, potato faced.

Thus she is wrong. All the time.

She just can't get away from being used for exposition. Her role from canon has now been used properly in a fanfic.

Noted. Don't expect her to magically change. Personality clashes and imperfect team dynamics are interesting to explore. Harmony in chaos and all that.

I don't think they asked her to change, only to have someone else there to go "Shut you bitch ass mouth, Lisa, you don't know shit!"

Jaune goes along with her too much and when it blow in their faces he doesn't call her out, he goes "Oh you~" or just deapan at her and it written off as comical rather than a serious check, so Lisa doesn't learn anything, doesn't think about her actions and does it again another time.

Also doesn't feel good reading him completely being manipulated by her even when it's for a good cause.

This is not a criticism by the way, both are in character and for me personally it's still a fun dynamic (Though I am expecting it goes somewhere, like develop into something less toxic, maybe by Jaune growing more a aware and growing a bigger spine or Lisa getting character development and becoming more genuine), but I admit the thought of a third travel companion or something that can go "Shut up, Lisa" and slap their finger in Jaune's face and go "She's playing you dude" is nice.

Tattletale is suprisingly op in anime settings like these.

A lot of fights usually depend on understanding the enemy and she can do that with a glance.

That and the power of talk no jutsu...

Its like if you gave Naruto the Sharingan.... If Naruto was an asshole.

The best part is that it isn't perfect. She's smart enough to untangle Accelerator's mess and point out all the ways academy city is still trucking him over, but attempt #1 was to straight up shoot the kid like it wasn't just going to bounce back at her. Immediately after she saw him slap Jaune through the building.

To be honest, I don't understand why Gossip Girl doesn't foam at the mouth and convulse at the mere sight of Kamijou, Misaka and Accelerator. Her shard should vibrate with happiness being in the universe of the Index and receiving a stream of clean data from local residents. Espers are not magic, their powers are based on scientific principles, they are amenable to the analysis of the Shard, and it should be crazy about the local potential. Moreover, the analysis of this trinity should bring gossip girl into a coma: Kamijou the Dragon King, Misaka and Accelerator are true angels, all three are multi-dimensional entities, Misaka has just recently undergone the process of transition to another life form and have residual telesmic emanations, Shard should be in madness. Even if we discard this aspect, gossip girl herself should be shaking like a bitch, from the realization of the power of Accelerator (in solo the whole earth Beth, with platinum solo Scion) or Mikoto (in solo triumvirate), and she's acting like an immortal.

That's fair, especially in this story. It gives a minor boost but nothing that makes the shop pointless. Looking forward to where you take it.

Holy shit, wait til her power reacts to Upper tier bullshit magic (if we even get to that, but this is the arc with the artificial angel right?). From what I remember of reading the light novels, this version of Accelerator is probably one of the weaker ones.

Because if everything is functioning properly, she doesn't have a shard anymore. She just has her power working as written in canon.

Edit: Clarification. Meant working as it was in canon.

"The earth's rotation just changed! We're five minutes behind than we should be!" she shouted. "The madman up there redirected all that energy into an attack on something!"
Negotiator is having an absolute blast. It's going to be so unbearably SMUG once Lisa goes back to Earth Bet with all this unique Data to show off to the other Shards.

The Himalayas is just a mountain too. And so is Olympus Mons. Lisa didn't specify which mountain Accelerator could have blown up with that amount of energy.

The Himalayas are a mountain range, while Olympus Mons is also not on earth.

Either way, both of them are still too small. Again, an attack measured in the exatons is a LOT more potent than you're imagining in terms of energy.

I wonder if this story going to have a timeskip. And if so, how is it going to happen? Would they stuck in one world for a very long time or travel to many different dimensions off screen? Will we have a hyperbolic time chamber?

I recently started watching Doctor Stone and thought about how being petrified would help Jaune and Lisa to power up. Maybe, Jaune would try to use aura amplification to break free but because he can't use it on himself to physically break the stone for more than quarter of second, he will need to practice until he manage to do it. After awakening, he would be able to take even more damage than before and use aura amplification on himself to enhance his physical abilities to completely new level. For the rest of the arc his mission is to find Lisa and get out of that world. And maybe fight in Stone wars.

1- Passive Aura healing should help build neural pathways.
2- Yes he does, neurological damage impacts his quality of life.
1. That is, you suggest finishing him off. Apparently, so he doesn't suffer.
2. It affected him to the point of white wings. It's just a method of masochism. Don't stop a person from having fun.

1- If building neural pathways, something we do consistently will kill him then he'd be long dead already. He simply has low neuroplasticity in the area he got shot.
2- It's affecting him now as Jaune interacts with him.

1. Okay, I'll explain it more simply: Aura will kill him.
2. No, it doesn't. He likes his own impotence. So I'll repeat myself, don't stop a person from having fun in a fit of masochism.

1- Aura isn't magic if that's what you're going for, if anything I speculate it's likely to synergize rather well with the passive personal magic that espers use. You'll have to explain to me how it'll kill him.
2- Nope, my wish doesn't care for what his various traumas deem best as a coping mechanism.

1. Aura is magic. Ozpin said so. So aura will kill an esper, especially with such a passive presence.
2. It's funny, you don't care, and you don't care about the character's feelings. The main thing is what you want. For example, I also want Ax to stop messing around and finish off the clones. But alas, his life is in his hands.
