Sorcery! Quest

[X] Chill out and take in the sights.

Let's not try to apply our nonexistent first aid skills, while she's having difficulties driving in a straight line.

doesn't take a lot of skill to try and keep the bood on the inside.

It does however take all of her attention not to crash the car.
Not to mention that we don't have any first aid skill at all.

honestly, i can hardly see how we can make things worse unless we just start jamming our fingers directly into the wound.

grab a cloth/rag, press over wound

its not like i'm suggesting we extract the bullet or something, just try and keep her from bleeding out until she gets whereever she's going.

she's already having trouble staying conscious and she only just started driving, if we spend the entire trip gawking around like a particularly dumb tourist, then she's probably going to pass out and crash half way.

Actually, i think this is the only time i have ever been in a quest where I actually wished we picked"First Aid" as a skill in Character Creation.

seriously, how often do you have to care for a wounded ally in quests?

regardless, the "take in the sights" option just seems a little carefree, if we aren't actually going to do something useful, i would still prefer a write-in to the tune of "keep an eye on purple and try and keep her from passing out"

[x] Rip off a piece of cloth, press it against the wound and apply pressure. we don't know much first aid but if she is going to survive we need to at least slow the bleeding.

Keep the Red Stuff on the Inside.

This device was amazing, the buildings racing by even more so, but you are rather concerned with the way Purple's hands shake on the wheel. If she faints while she is controlling the thing, you suspect you'd be in for a rather nasty collision.

You reach down to the hem of your sweat-soaked (now turning crusty), smoke-scented robes and begin tearing off strips. After a few moments of tearing, you find yourself with a wad of slightly crusty black cloth and a pair of scandalously naked ankles.

You look up to see Purple glancing at you, then switching back to watching the road, with accompanying swaying of the vehicle. You hold up the wad of cloth then gestures toward her side. She hesitates, then nods, mumbling something in her intelligible tongue.

You press it firmly to the wound at her side. She hisses and the vehicle swerves, very nearly ramming into a nearby building before straightening out. You stay there, keeping pressure on the wound while trying not to jostle her. You're not sure how terribly effective your crude fumblings are, but she hasn't fainted yet. You'll count it as a win.

You continue to hold it to her as the minutes pass. Your muscles begin to ache as you feel the wake of fatigue falling down on you like a leaden curtain. You know you possess a vast well of stamina, but it is not limitless and you have pushed yourself hard these last few hours, with little rest in the days before.

The strange wailing you heard before recedes into the distance. Purple evidently took a route that avoided whatever was making it.

The buildings around you get taller and closer together as you travel toward the city center. You see people as strangely dressed as your Purple friend, yet in different fashions. It was… odd. You marvel at the sights as best you can while still keeping the wound sealed.

You're not sure how long it is before Purple slows to a stop along the side of the road, near an alley between two abandoned buildings. She swipes under the dash, disabling the device.

She puts her hand over yours and you withdraw, allowing her to take possession of the impromptu bandage. She stumbles out of the metal wagon, hand clutched to her side, and, leaning heavily on the thing, begins to shuffle painfully toward the alleyway. You scramble out of the car and move to help, allowing her again to lean on you.

She guides you to a metal container brimming with refuse. She manages to reach behind it, half pulling out a bag…
Then she collapses, and you're left in an alley with an unconscious thief.

Actions?

[X] Your extensive medical knowledge says fainting is bad. Slap her awake.
[X] Get help! Plan? (Remember, you don't speak the language)
[X] Check the bag. Maybe there's something to help in there?
[X] … Whelp, she's dead. Time to wander off quietly.
[X] Write-in.

Note: Props. Most of the other routes ended in trips through the windshield, cops or both. Of course, if you rolled badly on your heal check, so did this one.

heh, check the bag and try and wake her up i guess.

depends what's in the bag.

[X] try and slap her awake, if that fails go for the bag.

anything in the bag will most likely be impossible for us to recognize or use, so waking her is our best bet, hopefully there will be something that can help her, fuck knows what though.

does she have contact with the batclan at this point? if so then a spare radio could save the day, or perhaps its a bag of plain-clothes?

if the latter, she could actually seek medical attention

she did come all this way for it, we have to hope that its something that can save her, but its likely that we won't know how to use it without her.

really hoping our new friend doesn't die.

Hey, I like this quest and don't want it to die !

[X] Check the bag. She was REALLY desperate to get to it, so it must be something important!
-->[X] ... You have no idea what this is. Hey, purple-girl, get the fuck up and help!

heh, my vote was pretty much this already, I'll jump on this one though, its phrased better.

Rude Awakenings

You quickly grab the bag and rifle through it. She was desperate to get to it, so there must be something in there you can use. To your disappointment, you find only an assortment of strange garments, a set of keys, a small black brick you suspect does something, and a large white box with a red cross emblazoned on the front. Opening the box reveals an assortment of bandages, threads, pills and other things you have no clue how to use.

You look at the things revealed, then shake the bag to see if anything else comes out.

Nope.

Well… Fuck.

You turn to regard Purple who is still lazing around, unconscious from blood loss or something. Pshhh. Light weight. Your own wound has soaked the side of your robes in the sticky warmth of shed blood, but it wasn't particularly worrisome. You'd done far worse to yourself when you were young(er) and stupid(er).

Eh, no help for it. "Wake up!" you say. She stirs. You lean over and slap her across the face to emphasize your point, and then again with a backhand when she still doesn't wake.

Aside from a small groan of discomfort she doesn't seem to react. You study her for a moment, wondering what to do… Then you decide to go with what feels natural and slap her hard on the wound in her side.

She wakes with a start, a choked scream and a punch that sends you sprawling. She begins muttering to herself (curses, you suspect) and shaking her head, as you scramble to your feet, not really minding your bloodied nose. Then she takes stock of where she is, noticing the spilled contents of the bag.

She pauses, glances at you, then sighs behind her mask. She pulls off her mask, lowers her hood, then shucks off her shirt entirely.
You examine her unabashedly. Tanned skin, blond hair, blue eyes, a healthy figure held in check by some sort of white undergarment.

Ah, yes. And the raw, bloody wound in her side. There's that.

Still looking rather wobbly, she reaches for the white box and begins treating herself. She pops pills, bathes and cleans the wounded area with some fizzy, hissing liquid, then starts stitching herself up with needle and thread. That's the interesting part, and you find yourself watching intently as she works, entranced by the way the needle pierces flesh, by the way the wound closes like a mouth at the tug of the black thread…

Sadly, she moves with some efficiency and is soon done with that part of the process, moving on to bandaging the wound (much less interesting) and collapsing in an exhausted, pained heap on the dirty ground…

You're not sure that last bit is part of the healing process. In fact, you strongly suspect it is not.

She looks at you from the alley floor, her blue eyes still tear-bright with pain, and then nods, her eyes closing as she once again falls into unconsciousness.

Was there… trust in her eyes before they closed? You're not sure. It's a rather foreign emotion in relation to you. Even the Old Man didn't trust you so much as he trusted his own power to put you down…

You shove those thoughts away. You had other things to worry about, namely the fact that you were stuck in an alley with a half-naked, wounded girl, in a strange city where you suspect no one speaks your language.

What do you do?
[X] It's not safe to move her. Make her comfortable and play guard the rest of the night.
[X] It's not safe here, especially with a stolen chariot nearby. Get her out of there (where?)
[X] She may be out of immediate danger, but she needs help. See if you can find someone to help.
[X] You did what you could. The rest is up to her. Leave (and do what? Default is just wander around).
[X] Write in.

did we just bitch-slap her wound? horrifying and hilatrious.

hmm, shes out of uniform now? right?

how human do we look?

if we pick her up and wander around, someone might help us get to a hospital, or we could guard her.

...

[X] stand guard.

[X] stand guard.

You slapped her wound. She punched you in the face. It's the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

She is half out of uniform. Specifically, the top half.

And you look completely human. You just exude an aura of "rabid, psychotic bitch" that tends to put people off.

Update in progress.

All's Well… Not.

Hmmm… You don't feel comfortable moving Purple right now. Humans are just so damn fragile. It wouldn't do for your new friend to reopen her wound and bleed out…

When you try to put her tunic back on, she lets out a pained moan and twists in her sleep, so you just wrap her in her purple cloak. You sit down behind the dumpster and pull her so her head rests in your lap. She makes another small, pained sound but quickly settles back down into sleep.

You look down at her, your new friend… You think this makes you friends, in any case. You killed her enemies and she helped you escape afterwards. It seems like firm foundation for a friendship. You smile and lean your head back against the rough rock of the building behind you.

It has been a good day…

Your robes are now kinda crunchy, soaked in dried sweat. The wound in your side still throbs angrily and weeps a thin trickle of blood that further soils your robes. You are infinitely far from any place you would consider home, from the only person you would consider kin, stranded in a foreign city among barbarians.

And yet as you drift off to sleep, a contented smile still graces your face.

= = =

You dream, not of fire and screams and other fun things, but of the pattern you walked, flickering with golden fire, shot through with black fissures that seem to yawn like chasms… You remember every beautiful flaw as if it were imprinted on your very soul.

= = =

You are awakened by a string of senseless gibbering, this land's common tongue. You stir mutinously, wondering who you had to set on fire to get a decent night's sleep. It takes a moment to remember where you are. You peek out from behind the dumpster.

Strange red blue lights strobe your stolen carriage. After a moment, you see a man dressed in dark blue walk up to the carriage and examine its open front door and the front seat with a light wand. You shift back behind the dumpster, one thought running through your mind.

… Who the hell would make a wand for a cantrip?

Whatever… In any case, a man of unknown intentions is investigating your general location.

What do you do?
[X] Stay put and hope he doesn't come over here. It's not like you could run away with Purple like this.
[X] He could be friendly. Call for help.
[X] Draw him over to you and then Color Spray.
[X] Fire. It solves everything.
[X] Distract him with Dancing Lights and make a break for it with Purple.
[X] Write-in

yeah, because we can toally do that, right?

no.

personally i think setting a policeman on fire is a fucking terrible idea.

[X] he might be friendly.

Color spray is Mook Bane in every campaign ever.

Who said anything about setting him on fire? Throwing a liberal amount of fire in his general direction should be enough. But if the precision need to be made.

[X] Fire. It solves everything.
-[X] But not actually at the man himself. Scare him away.
