The Dao That Can Be Taught (A Xianxia Teacher Quest)

[X] The Southern Court

Greater independence and freedom of action vs greater influence on some up-and-comers and greater direction on what to do. Hmm, tough choice.

I'll go for independence and freedom myself.

[X] The Southern Court

[X] The Northern Court

Looks much more interesting then southern one.

[X] The Northern Court

Tough choice. I wonder what our rival is like.

My only worry about the Northern Court is that it's queen is part of a sect under scrutiny, and the sect is considered a cult by some.

Northern Court
Epitaph of leader: White Flower Serpent
Major School = Spring and Autumn Scripture School
Four Pillar = White Lotus sect/cult, the Three Teachings Sword School

Southern Court
Epitaph of leader: Fiery Thunderbolt
Major School = Southern Immortal Star School,
Major Clan = Thinderbird Clan
Four Pillar = Dragon's Gate Sect

The Rival
Four Pillar = Heaven's Rain School

The Unaligned
From the Six Major Schools, Four are Unaligned: the Hundred Herbs School, the Eight Virtues School, the Water Mirror School, and the Seven Stars Sword School.

The Three Major Sects are unaligned:: the Clear Wind Sect, the Twin Dragon Sect, and the Peach Blossom Sword Sect.

From the Two Major Clans, one is unaligned (maybe): the River Snake Clan.

The One Major Association is unaligned: the Black Cat Brotherhood.

From the Four Pillars, none are unaligned.

====================================

That's 9 neutral factions out of 16 factions total. 7 factions could become invoked in a conflict.

Depending on this choice, the Northern Court can have three of the four pillars on her side. Or the Southern Court and the Northern Court could have the Four Pillars split between themselves.

The Four Pillars are Mighty Sects, while the Schools, Clans, Association, and Major Sects are classified in the same blob of "Major Sect" level, below Mighty Sect.

[] The Southern Court

This one seems like they would be more close as people/friends, while the other seems like they'll be close as allies.
I'm fine with either though.
edit: since im fine with both im not voting anymore :p

So far it's 6 for Southern and 5 for Northern. It's a pleasant surprise that it's this close, actually; for some reason I kind of figured it'd be a pile on to the Southern Court.

The "Characters and Lore" threadmark has been updated with some general information on the most powerful sects in the kingdom. Feel free to check that out.

You didn't give a lot of information, and it helps that it seems like some looked at the choices and went "Less obligations vs More obligations".

More information on the politics of the Northern and Southern Courts is unavailable at this moment. As the political conflicts of the two groups have not yet become well known and the protagonist is a loose cultivator who would absolutely get pulled into one of the factions. Either by inertia, or the benefits the protagonist can give a faction. The Northern Court is where he would best fit, he'd have a stable job, safety, and political clout for being a founding member of what looks like a group wanting to become a "Emperor". However their political agenda and what they intend for the future is hard to puzzle out beyond "war". The Northern Court are the radicals.

The Southern Court is very free, and they're political stance is hard to puzzle out. It looks like they might be the traditionalists, wanting the status quo to remain the same and unchanged. But they could be a force for change. One xianxia I read went into political issues of a xianxia world. One of the biggest things that stayed with me was that the righteous sects used slave labor to get supplies. In a might eat weak world, that makes terrible sense. Being good is hard.

To me, the choice is not black and white. The Northern Court has a plan for the future, while the Southern Court has no plan for the future. But the Southern Court would have the benefit of being strong at the start, a friendly atmosphere, and a positive reputation..

The southern queen doesn't seem to really care about that position, so it looks like joining that would end up with us needing to do more to keep it going.
North has someone competent already, and I'd rather be on side instead of facing off against them when the southern queen doesn't care

[X] The Northern Court

More politics!

Don't necro. This is against Rule 7.
This quest is really fucking ridiculous! It been a year and still in character creation.
