I am writing an epilogue. I generally state when a story is over.At least Hermione has found her grand parents.
So is the story over now, or are we going to see another chapter?
Thank you for the story. I found the setting to be interesting and to make sense.
The below is my opinion and hopefully some constructive criticism. However, I am not a writer, so feel free to ignore anything stupid.
In my opinion Hermione, after discovering how Malfoy gathered, shaped and lied to the Wands became somewhat lacking. To me it seemed that after this occurred she stopped acting on her own or reacting to the situation, if I can put it like that. She did not make plans for in case Dumbledore and the exiles were less than truthful, did not try to guide the Wands in leadership positions to discover anything, did not do or try and arrange anything for "just in case". She just did what was asked or ordered by Dumbledore, did what was publicly required of her as a Wand, and not much else.
I am of the opinion that showing Hermione trying to set up some "just in case" options for herself and the Wands, succeeding with some, failing with others, fearing discovery by both Dumbledore and Malfoy, feeling guilty about hiding it from Ron and being grateful not to have had to use them and that Dumbledore did not find out about them. (Perhaps keeping some around after the victory and keeping them updated, just in case she misjudged things again, hoping they would never be necessary.)
Well, that's my two cents. Once again thank you. I appreciated your hard work.
Well, with regards to contingency plans: Leaving aside the question if she actually wanted to enter politics, what could she have done? She considered telling the other Wands, but didn't see a good way to achieve it, not without risking discovery by Malfoy. And once Malfoy was dead, things happened very, very quickly, until the Dark Lord was dead. Malfoy died on September 22nd. The Ministry contacted Dumbledore a day later, and met with him the day after that. The truth about Malfoy's crimes against the Wands was revealed on 26th/27th, and she talked with the Wand's leader as well - I'd think that would count as "nudging them". 28th saw the discovery of Snape, and Voldemort's attempt to split the Ministry and Dumbledore up. And at that day, Sarah the Wand-Commander made it clear that the Wands would not be Dumbledore's tools - what else was needed at that point? The Wands were no longer under anyone's control, at least not in fact, and the war was still on. Voldemort died on Ocotber 2nd.
I'd say she did what she could to achieve what you wanted her to.
Politics? That's a dirty word! Go wash your mouth out with soap!
But seriously, let me think about a few possibilities. Writing a letter with details about her discoveries and hiding it in a place that would be searched if she went missing before she went to meet the twins and/or to meet Dumbledore seems doable. In fact, if she has the ability to obliviate herself, perhaps she could write such a letter and put it in any paperwork that she's working on, something that would't be looked through by others in the normal course of things.
After meeting with Albus, and remembering that Malfoy also seemed trustworthy, how about hiding some supplies for herself in a safe spot, things like food, water, clothes (for herself and possibly Ron) and any healing and general utility potions she could reasonably get without arousing suspicions. In fact, if she could get away with it, hide a lot, enough that a number of Wands would be able to use this cache if the Wands had to run because of Albus not being what he seemed.
As to the Wands, just trying to subtly find out whether there are potions or enchanted items that would block legilimency is a possibility if she want's to spread the truth. Whether there are any, there aren't any or she's just unable to find out without arousing suspicion in the time she has available (probably the last) would't be the point. The trying would be the point.
But, once again, that was my opinion, and considering that I'm too unskilled to write stories myself just ignore it if it is stupid.
