Chapter 7 ~ A Silver Damsel in Distress New

The birds were chirping as light shone through a dusty window from the abandoned warehouse.

Groaning from the undressed mattress and pillows I got from the local Walmart, to which I dragged back to the same warehouse I threw the gangsters— or whatever they were—out of the building and down the street to which I called the police with paperwork of evidence on top of The Fister's stomach.

I was honestly expecting to hide out for an extended period of time as soon as the sad bastard's ratted me out…except they didn't?

A few days went by as I was on edge,…only to spot that the news had the "supervillain" apprehended by a new vigilante.

Currently, on my "bed", my eyebrows scrunched up at the memory of yesterday that apparently, I didn't need to hide out…they didn't even bother looking at the warehouse, they just left it be for me to use…

Honestly, I didn't know what to think about it.

I got up from the bed, it wasn't cold, so I honestly didn't need to get a blanket, I could feel Puck was back in my Familiar Space, very much tired from constant summons.

Maintaining physical form is apparently tough as balls, something he needs to constantly save up mana from.

I now barely have enough for standard mana sucking thanks to President Lion, but considering the size of Puck's reserves he either needed to slowly absorb the mana in the air to not ice age everything, or find a better source of mana.

I got up, giving a good ole stretch, before I was hit with the smell of a heavenly omelette, with a good suspicion over who was currently cooking.

I hummed to myself as I dressed myself into comfortable clothing, and strolled into the equivalent of a mini kitchen.

Peeking in, I can see my—quite frankly favorite—rat boy on hind legs walking around the stove carefully, spatula with both hands flipping egg goodness I bought recently.

Two plates, one of them filled up with the meal, my dear Remy, finishing up with his own portion and plopped it down on the plate.

He then spotted me and gave me a good ole wave, "Thank you Remy," the guy saluted me, as he gave a good ole sniff and started slowly biting into breakfast, savoring it.

I was frankly doing the same, I could never go back…

This guy made me like cooked vegetables that I used to dislike, I don't give a fuck if the Gacha is calling him a common pull, Remy is god like, apparently being the finest chef in all of France.

Puck himself didn't need to eat, if he did he preferred snacks of all kinds from cookies to all kinds of sugary delights.

I should probably watch myself on the money though…I am down past half, especially since I went out and wooed a whole bunch of the fairer sex.

My god, was Path to Love an utter cheat…with it equipped it made acquiring bitches all…too easy to be honest, and with Lovers it was also easy to have them understand it was a one night stand and stop the unnecessary drama.

With Path to Love, I instantly knew their likes and dislikes, I knew what looks I should disguise myself with Foxfire, with every girl that caught my eye, I was their ideal type, who knew just the right words to put them in the mood and have a good day, who knew just what activities they utterly enjoyed, what 5 star version of their favorite food made by the best rat chef is.

If I didn't have Lovers, it would probably be entirely too creepy that a random guy they met on a train or cafe knew so much, but I just made it seem like I liked the same stuff as well, as I showed them a good time…while in the end getting in their pants.

It was amazing, even when not thinking about the Gacha tickets, I got a sweet ring out of it that regenerates stamina for me.

I was not entirely sure if I should be happy to have Lucky Sukebe, but considering only with its help that I managed to run into a pretty gal in mid change, while at the mall sampling clothing, and the door was accidently unlocked?….

I felt a soft smirk grow on my face, as I extended the hand with the caught book to her, "I believe this belongs to you? You sure seemed to be in a hurry," She glanced down at the book…a Bible apparently, she reached for it only to pull back an instant later, before deciding to actually get her book back before she clutched it to her chest, taking a step or two back as watched me warily

I waited a good minute for her to recover from a pick up line that in two decades time would at best get an eye roll out of someone, before I heard Puck's voice echo in my mind.

"Mortimer! Be on a look out, the guy coming up behind you, it may not be aimed at you, but the hostility is practically dripping from this guy," Puck, in spirit form, saving mana by remaining incorporeal warned.

"Hey…" a guy called out from behind me, looking back with a bored expression replacing my grin. I took a look at the guy, "We have been looking all over for you," he said in an attempt to seem friendly…but Puck's warning and Lovers were very obviously pointing at me the opposite.

He stood a head taller than me, most of his face was covered, I can barely make out he had black hair in the roots while most of it was obviously dyed gray, with a dark hoodie.

"Yep…she is also scared like there is no tomorrow," I looked back and saw that she indeed looked like she spotted death behind me, "This guy is bothering you?" I asked gently and nonchalantly, I could practically feel the tense situation worsen but also kinda pause.

"…ah he didn't like that, he is also now looking at you with murder in his heart!…want me to take care of him?" I was getting the distinct impression that he was pounding his fist paw in the palm of the other.

"No need," I called him off, of something goes wrong, Puck is probably already readying up with a ice shield and icicle.

"Buddy…this is none of your business, she need to come with me…you stay out of it-" I can practically taste the foul irritation in his tone, not that I cared much as I cut him off.

"Hey…" I called out to the girl, to which she locked eyes with me once more, "Is he bothering you?" She tensed up, as she didn't know what to say to me.

"…do you want to go with him?" I tried a different approach, her shoulders shook as she shakes no.

"Pal, back off, I am already in a bad mood, so back away before I crack your skull-" the guy didn't get to speak, as in a matter of moments, I turned to my side, fist clenched, stance squared and stable, and cleanly hit him in the jaw with the back of my hand as he was sent flying to the wall.

…I waited for a moment…only for nothing to come from it, the guy knocked out, slumped over the red brick wall…and no ticket to show for it.

Which means, the guy was all bark…what a let down.

I turned back, the girl was looking wide eyed at me and the aggressor, I could tell she didn't know what to think or do in front of this violence,…thankfully there was practically no one here today.

"…Wanna grab lunch? My treat" I said with enthusiasm and gave her a cheesy smile and pointed at myself.

She stood there like a statue before she finished processing what just occurred, "…I-"she started, before much to her mortification, something interrupted us.

RUMBLE

She flushed crimson, I snorted in laughter at the fact that she was already spoken for.

"It seems your stomach agrees with me…come on! I know a good place nearby for a quick bite!"
