The Music Thread

>sequel fucks up the setting
A tale as old as History. What happened?
This should go on in the game rants thread if it goes on further, but in short...
-Set 100 years after 2. Forget any other character in 1 and 2.
-No real followup on any of the sequel hooks 2 had.
-Gunvolt is not even the main character. Hell, if you use him too much, you get an automatic game over.
-The plot is a fucking mess not connected to anything in the first two games. Players called it it that this should not have been called Gunvolt 3 but something reflecting the battle priestess you control at least.
-The true ending is also a fucking mess, GV basically banishing himself into space to buy time for others to find a way to seal his rampant power properly. Some said the bad ending where he die instead to be way more conclusive than this crap.

Need I go on? Ironically, the gameplay was great.

Guys, I need help.

First heard this song a few days ago, playing Cat Fantasy. Never heard it before in my life. Good song, but...

What fucking song shares that melody at 50 seconds!?

It's so goddamn familiar! But I cannot remember what song includes that exact sound! I remember it being a good song, a very dark song, but I cannot for the life of me remember what song it was, any of the lyrics, anything but that tune!

It's driving me crazy!

Anyone who heard Japanese music ( the one not made for Japanese TV shows, animes and etc) what do you guys think off it? I always felt like their vibe is all over the place. It's like they don't have a specific thing or motif in mind.

I like T.M Revolution.

Not sure if it's related, but I understand that if you listen to the radio in Japan, the host doesn't really stop talking during the music because they don't give a fuck about lyrics, or something. They don't assign meaning to music through words, or something.

The fuck. Seriously?
A biiit more complicated than that, but effectively.

You even see a lot of Japanese singers use nonsense words. Often borrowed from other languages (English, Latin, Russian, and Spanish the top four in order of popularity) or straight up making up new words that fit the sound structure. Though usually they use Japanese words, just in ways that make no sense.

It's not that weird. Shakespeare did it, too. He's responsible for the word 'cock' being associated with 'penis'. Because he wanted a dick joke that rhymed.

Japan does go further than most with it, however.

Take the Ar Tonelico series' "hymnos"- an entire fucking language invented for the sole purpose of being sung (mostly by taking a cleaver to Latin and then stitching shit together). They built a conlang from the principles of music theory.

It's beautiful.

That one's particularly fun in game because it's basically the spell "Summon Orbital Laser Cannon". It will just straight up override the final boss music.

But the point of this conversation is... unless you're really dedicated or someone's gone through the trouble of subtitling the whole thing... you're not going to know a damn word of it regardless of the language you speak.

Though some of the songs, especially early on in the series, have a bit of Japanese to bridge certain gaps.

Right, there is this I want to share.

How do you feel about a song recorded before a singer's death but published after? Something you FEEL he knew his end was coming and yet still feel like leaving something to his fans?

It's in French, but I found out someone did an english cover of it and after listening to it, manage to capture the feeling of it pretty damn well.

So, posting in both languages, the End of the Show.

Anyone know the name of the song played when Itadori Yuji hits Mahito with one big powerful BlackFlash?

Only one. Requiem in D Minor.

Or "I fear I am writing this requiem for myself"- Mozart

He never managed to finish it. Appropriate, considering how young he was when he died.
