I wrote up a short story where David Bushnell had two years and a little extra help and inspiration for building his Turtle Submarine... And the mission against the British fleet in New York Harbor on September 6th, 1776 goes dramatically different.

Please check it out on my Patreon. I will post the full thing in time.

But in short: This Turtle has a lot more upgrades and innovations than the original because Bushnell had more money, backing, time, and a bit more inspiration from Franklin to develop it. Still within the limits of 1770s technology, but enough to make a difference. The biggest is that it uses a spar torpedo instead of a drill in mine.

And it's a two seater. Sergeant Ezra Lee and "Captain" William Reese Spiers, a Charles Town shipping magnate's son and engineer, are the crew for the Turtle.

Time to blow up some British boats.
